Hooray for the contagious courage of Democrats Sen. (and Captain) Mark Kelly (AZ), Sen. Elissa Slotkin (MI), Rep. Maggie Goodlander (NH), Rep. Chris Deluzio (PA), Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (PA), Rep. Jason Crow (CO).
This must be especially painful for Gabby Giffords to hear the threats to execute her husband. It is unforgiveable. It's time for dt to GO because The Traitor is in his mirror.
It isn't going to happen, but the danger is the stochastic terrorism Trump depends on. It starts with death threats, swatting (already dangerous), and potentially actual assassination attempts.
The threats there are to keep whatever part of the GOP is still there on his side from abandoning him.
I think it all shows desperation. So in that sense it is a good sign.
Simon wrote, "And we must be more ambitious with it now for as bad as Trump has been - and he has been very, very bad - what he is on the cusp of doing, in this moment of profound 427 to 1 repudiation and undeniable failure, is some of the most dangerous things he has ever contemplated. And we must become more ambitious and imaginative now in finding ways to stop him. "
Here is an essential discussion from the new On Offense podcast hosted by nazi hunter Kristofer Goldsmith with public historian (and veteran) Tad Stoermer, author of the new book A Resistance History of the United States
Where is the discussion about impeaching trump for treason? He is openly siding with Putin, entertaining msb at the White House , a terrorist who slaughtered a journalist and is now considering selling/ giving Saudi's F 35's, for starters . Trump is openly destroying our country. I do not get why there aren't articles of impeachment being prepared.
It appears that a very important line has been crossed by Trump. The members of Congress who spoke out -- all ex-military or ex-Intel -- reminded our military of their sacred oath, and that it is NOT to a person, but to our Constitution.
True to form, Trump considers such a message "seditious." IMO, loyal Americans must put great pressure on their representatives in the House. I consider any who have taken that oath -- "that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion" -- and who then puts Trump (or any president) over our Constitution to be traitors. We continue down this path at great peril -- now that the danger has shown itself so clearly.
Just called our two GA Senators for this very reason. I said that 47 has broken norms, ignored laws, and has crossed way too many lines, but this is the most egregious line and that it should end his presidency. I asked they begin to work across the aisle with their R colleagues to get him to resign NOW b/c the American public is sick and tired of him.
Since September, I have been signing off my communications to my GA MAGA rep with these words: "Accountability is coming." He sends out his weekly update to constituents today. I let him know that people are recording everything he says and does publicly -- and things he chooses NOT to say. And this open threat to members of Congress would be one huge omission.
We need to elect a Democratic governor as well as re-electing Senator Ossoff.
Got an update from Ron Filipowski’s bulletin re: HR 6019:
“… Sen. Lindsey Graham, who was behind the amendment [in the shutdown bill that creates the handout] along with Sen. Ted Cruz, said he doesn’t care about the unanimous rebuke from the House . . . .
. . .
… Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) asked for unanimous consent in the Senate to pass the House bill, which would have happened since it did not appear any senators were interested in defending this anymore, but Lindsey Graham objected. Now it will have to be voted on by recorded vote.”
That last bit would appear to mean that there’s a shot at getting the handout repealed if HR 6019 is brought to a vote.
Calling my senators and telling them I want HR 6019 brought to a vote and passed. I do not want my taxpayer dollars in Lindsey Graham’s stock portfolio. No handouts for us taxpaying minions, they always say. No handouts for J6 senators either, then.
I want to know how we save Ukraine, keep our congresspeople safe and not allow all the farms to go into foreclosure.... I am sick to my stomach with tears streaming this morning....how can this be our world... What are the words I need to use... what should my protest sign say...
Stay strong and know you are not alone! There are more of us than there are of them. We’ve got the momentum here and we won’t let this administration’s scare tactics intimidate us. We will keep pushing back every day, each in our own capacity. Together we will win this fight.
Hey Cece hang in there. I think most of us have days where it all just seems too much. For me, taking action with other people is really a good antidote. What's something you feel most strongly about? Focus on that maybe, and actions you can take there. Or sometimes I just need a no news day or weekend to get my feet under me again. We'll get to the other side of this.
Marjorie Taylor Greene, starting with the Epstein files is on her way to a great comeback. She was witch of the year but could end the year as switch of the year. But I need to make one thing known.
She once claimed it was Jewish Lazers from space that caused California fires. Well, for full disclosure-- she was right! I'm Jewish and am coming clean. They were Jewish lazers. I DID IT!
I went to her website to thank her for standing up for the Epstein victims. I saw on her front page "NO US AID". I changed my mind on thanking her. She hasn't changed much.
WE SHOULD NOT be surprised by Trump's recent call for "hangings". This was his SECOND attempt at incitement of violence against lawmakers. Congress must not let this go and act to impeach immediately before we descent into total lawlessness.
Hello! I sent out 300 postcards my group wrote for Rep Aftyn Behn in the TN 07 special election. This election is going to be my personality for the next week or so. Postcards to Swing States postcards go out today. Postcard to Voters postcards are all done, and all addresses were finished!! GOP is running scared - she is within 4-5% margin in a GOP + 20 district!! Jeff Yass has pitched in money to GOP and when that happens, you know you are on a winning side (his $$ for PA and CA did nada).
Thank you, musician and Dem. Governor candidate Ditch Kurtz, showed he got 2 postcards in the mail. One from St. Louis and the other from Boston. So nice to get these cards from out of state folks. By the way, he already voted for Aftyn Behn, but nice he showed us the cards on Instagram.
Postcards matter. They make Dems happy and feel loved. Here is a letter from a person yesterday, who got our county Party postcard we sent to Dems.
"Hey Fellow Dems,
I received your postcard in the mail today and was SO happy to see it! I think it's the first democratic postcard I've received in my 24 years of living in Sequatchie County. It was like getting a letter from an old friend. Thank you. Please add me to your newsletter, when you get the chance, and thanks again for all you're doing.
Please support Aftyn Behn who is running in a special election to flip house district TN-07. The GOP is pouring money into the race. I'm surprised that I've never heard Simon mention it. You can donate and phone bank. https://www.aftynforcongress.com/
Thank you for contributing to Aftyn's campaign. The news is saying the Dems are being outspent by Republicans on t.v. ads. We don't watch Fox or mainstream media news (just finally back to watching a little of MSNBC) we listen to music or watch Netflix. What Dems are doing that Van Eppstsein is not doing is canvassing. There are a couple of other men running as Independents, I hope many of those indies peel off the votes for Van Epps. Dems are united and excited.
About yesterday’s theatrical execution hysterics- remember he yelled that he wanted General Mark Milley executed after Jan. 6 for getting on the phone w/ China and assuring them that basic political stability wasn’t lost as the coup attempt unfolded.
If this had happened several months ago I would’ve been more stressed. But it’s super obvious that he’s weakened and does not currently have the political clout to pull off that level of dictatorial illegality. I can’t even imagine the most goonish Border Patrol goons being willing to try. Trump’s a wannabe. And with his dementia progressing, he’ll stay that way and keep spinning the drain. It’s ugly and pathetic.
People will continue to get hurt but it’ll be the likes of Kilmar Abrego (still incarcerated, still fighting to go home to his family), not Senator Slotkin or Kelly.
Had Minnesota's Melissa Hortman and her husband not been assassinated earlier this year, this might could still be considered performative hysterics in my book, but we don't seem to live in that world anymore, sadly. To that end, I take his remarks very seriously b/c he still holds influence on very dangerous individuals, and I just contacted my 2 DEM Senators expressing my outrage and my expectation that they will work with their R colleagues to pressure him to resign, NOW!
Oh, yes, agree, the risk of vigilante violence happening and getting the POTUS’ wink-wink is very real.
I was referring to the risk of Trump successfully having people extrajudicially arrested and executed. You know, dictator stuff. Stuff he would love to be able to do but lacks the clout.
Here in NC we are collecting cash for groceries and support to our immigrant neighbors via our Durham Public Schools Foundation and have teams gathering at drop off and pickup not to protest but to make the process joyful and feel safer. We had a great organizing zoom with Rogers Park in Chicago last night to help us navigate dealing with ICE. Essentially, ICE doesn't like to be observed doing their gestapo nonsense so we all need to be there witnessing and filming and telling them to F off!
Calling Ted Budd's office is stomach-turning because his staffers are deluded and still think they are doing God's work. I disabuse them of that notion all the time. Tillis's office is always a voicemail. Calling the local office for my Rep. (Foushee, who's doing great work) is always my palate cleanser since they are 100 percent with us.
Thanks for all you are doing to support the NC Dems, family! We will flip this state with you behind us!
Dear Simon, great newsletter! Lawrence O’Donnell the other night (who I greatly respect) did a whole segment o. How Trump’ Presidency is crashing, and likely irreversibly for him at that 🙏.
On a separate note, off the heels of more promising news in leadership prospects, I am thrilled Congressman Eric Swalwell announced his bid for Governor of CA. Smart move! He would be my pick! Popular, effective communicator, endearing, earnest, and tough. Also, I can honestly see him winning.
I respected Katie Porter in the House and I respect Barrerra, but Swalwell in my view, is the strongest choice and I have a feeling the combination of Newsom, Harris, Pelosi, and more will ultimately put their weight behind him, helping to put him over the finish line.
Idk who the GOP candidate will end up being but given Newsom’ surge in popularity especially given his popularity was sincerely blurred for a while (economically) until this year saw him leading the fight (assuaging even Republican voters), Swalwell now has more of an advantage as a Dem candidate than even six months ago. Hope this all bodes well for him.
I still agree with Harris having stayed out of this particular race. In my view, she needed time (would have been too soon after the ‘loss’). Smarter move traveling the country, able to speak freely, criticize freely, and able to more genuinely gage the state of her influence on the electorate (encouragingly, her tour is selling out and the crowds have been both huge and vibrant all over the country). Plus, she knows she’s still meant for higher office which is why at minimum, I still see AG or a cabinet secretary in her future.
The party I think knows they screwed her over throughout this past election in various ways and given the palpability of both hers and Newsom’ long standing relationship, I think they’re all conversing in the background (almost regardless of who becomes the Dem nominee in 2028), working to ensure she is aided in making an appropriate comeback as I feel she deserves.
Harris may run in 2028 again but, if so, I imagine solely with the intention to both resurge her national standing as well as to secure herself a cabinet position. That said, should she exceed expectations (mind you, I’ve long now emphasized how I feel she remains severely underestimated, and given her popularity throughout the campaign and the unprecedented finances and coalition achieved in such short time), then that’s a whole other ballgame.
Especially, against a the likes of a GOP candidate who is NOT Trump (but maybe too akin which I have a feeling by then, will be a major turn off for most…many Republicans included). That aside, AG at least for sure, hopefully 🙏.
But back to my original point 😆, let’s go Swalwell 🙌. Idk if Hopium will decide to back his bid (as i understand we wait until primaries commence) but per the topic in general, I feel hopeful overall ✌️.
Remember California has an open primary, with the top two going to the general regardless of party (unless the top vote getter is over 50%) So it could be two democrats in the general. It is unlikely that the GOP will have a seriously viable candidate for Governor, although they sometimes get the second spot because of the split vote in the primary.
The Democratic legislators ended their message to the military with the saying, "Don't give up the ship." This originally referred to the USS Chesapeake, but has come to mean much more. It reminded me of this poem by Longfellow that I think is appropriate for this group of plucky patriots:

Here is our Aurora, CO Congressman Jason Crow's response: https://www.denverpost.com/2025/11/20/trump-military-video/?
He is a future Presidential candidate!
It isn't going to happen, but the danger is the stochastic terrorism Trump depends on. It starts with death threats, swatting (already dangerous), and potentially actual assassination attempts.

Thou, too, sail on, O Ship of State!
Sail on, O Union, strong and great!
Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
Is hanging breathless on thy fate!
We know what Master laid thy keel,
What Workmen wrought thy ribs of steel,
Who made each mast, and sail, and rope,
What anvils rang, what hammers beat,
In what a forge and what a heat
Were shaped the anchors of thy hope!
Fear not each sudden sound and shock,
'Tis of the wave and not the rock;
'Tis but the flapping of the sail,
And not a rent made by the gale!
In spite of rock and tempest's roar,
In spite of false lights on the shore,
Sail on, nor fear to breast the sea!
Our hearts, our hopes, are all with thee.
Our hearts, our hopes, our prayers, our tears,
Our faith triumphant o'er our fears,
Are all with thee, -are all with thee!
We too are not giving up the ship!
Thank you - totally appropriate!
About to call Sens. Booker & Kim and Rep. Chris Smith (Traitor-NJ04) and demand they make statements denouncing the violent rhetoric from Orange. Also going to mention the 5 point plan - sent to them via email earlier this week. Also going to demand they make a statement in support of Ukraine & denouncing the WH "peace plan." [eye roll]
If that fool thinks NJ astronauts (that's right, Mark Kelly is from the Garden State) and former CIA agents and Army Rangers are afraid of him, he's got another think coming. The clown is playing with fire and I for one will not stand for it.
Keep going!
I'm planning to do the same with my own legislators later today.
thank you!
So grateful for all the great work that you're doing to support rising leaders across the country. I would like to suggest that you also consider supporting Hallie Shoffner who is running against Tom Cotton in Arkansas for the US Senate. Although I don't live there, I saw her in a lengthy interview on IG and was very impressed with what a deep knowledge she has re the farming crisis in the U.S. She has an impressive background, is from a 6-generation farming family, and understands the issues, including climate change, tariffs, and the agricultural mega businesses. So, even tho' I live in NY, I have started donating to her campaign. She is going all over the state, meeting and talking with people. I hope you will check her out. I think we have many exceptional people who are ready to step up!
It seems quite odd, strategically, to do everything Russia wants at a time when there's evidence that suggests that Trump is being blackmailed by Russia about the Epstein files. I hope our leaders are drawing this connection loudly.
Just made my donation to the retake the house fund at Hopium. Good luck to the 4 candidates. I agree with Simon that we need to donate now, not later.
