Senator Ossoff is my senator. He has done more to help my state than any senator in recent memory. He and Senator Warnock are a powerhouse. The Republican Party here is desperate to replace him. Echoing Simon Rosenberg, please help support him and donate to his campaign in any way that you can so that we are able to keep him in the Senate.
I am so excited to see this interview that I am waiting until tomorrow morning to give my brain a rest. It's been a long day, and I don't want to space-out for any of it.
I remember the thrill of learning about Ossoff's and Warnock's historic victories. For this Yankee, I was over the moon. And Warnock has stayed the course; Ossoff, to me (again, he's not my rep), has done his job with dignity and integrity, sometimes getting all sorts of shit for following his North Star. Courageous in these times.
This is a gift I look forward to early tomorrow morning! Thanks, Simon
One of THE most exciting campaigns I ever worked on in my life was the run-off for both Senators Ossoff and Warnock in GA in late 2020/early 2021. It was wild, non-stop, and very invigorating. The only downside was that we were still curing ballots on Jan 6, 2021 for that race and we were in the middle of all day training Zoom-paloozas back to back. The show had to go on, though many of us were holding back tears as we trained other vols while we watched the insurrection unfold in front of our very eyes on TV (and less than 10 miles from my house).
I have already contributed $$ this year to Senator Ossoff and will do so again. Will also work with GA Dems ( a great group) next. year. For a child brought up in NY, to see a black Senator and a Jewish Senator win in the state of GA was more than a dream come true. I'll do whatever I can to help Senator Ossoff win again as I did Senator Raphael in his re-election again.
I live right across the Potomac in Arlington, VA and we did all this work virtually. Yes, it was during COVID while everything was done virtually, but so much of this work is still done via Zoom, etc. in order to get a national effort for these key state races.
Me too Clair! Those were exciting days! I did ballot cure canvassing for the runoff, and the energy on the street was electric!
People were so excited that Biden had won GA and their votes had finally made a difference! Wherever I canvassed throughout the month of December (all around metro ATL) people who saw us in our campaign shirts approached us with questions about when, where and how to vote in the runoff. We felt the support from GA voters but also from all around the country.
We got Warnock reelected, and we’ll do it again for Ossoff!
What a great message from a true leader with real ENERGY and vision. Have others wondered what it would be like to not think about politics, threats, any president much less this one, for just ONE DAY! Just live your life, be creative, think about philosophy, or something, and check in with the news once in a while? Because our government would be full of people like this.
So I've wondered lately about how to incorporate that idea of "aren't you tired of thinking about this guy, the chaos, the abject incompetence?" Promote a vision of a return to normality. Folks just want competence in leadership, which keeps us all from having to think about this stuff all the time. I get even more irate at the Morange (as we call him here) for robbing me of this kind of peace in my retirement years, but MORE SO that he has dominated my young grandson's lifespan.
I also am picking up that former lukewarm Trumpers are appalled at how "mean" he is, especially about immigration. Make America Nice Again, or something, I think will tap into that sense that he's gone too far.
Helping stuff literature for Abigail next week, and made a recurring contribution to her campaign.
Thanks for all of these great interviews, and your work, Simon.
I like the anti-corruption message. I think empowering ordinary people instead of billionaires, anti-corruption, and running on values and empathy are where they should go. I will kick in another contribution to Senator Ossoff.
I also really like the hopeful message. It's so important. I was seeing so many people today spouting the same nonsense about how there won't be midterms, etc. I tell them to knock it the fuck off because it is self-defeating.
I really think that if we fight, and given Trump's unpopularity, that we will defeat this. Either complacency or fatalism are deadly to us.
Agreed. Which is what is so vital about Simon’s Hopium - addictive to hope! No defeatism! Look at the billionaires so scared of Mamdani in NYC that they’re rallying to push the craven Cuomo into being their mayor.
I learned from a woman in the comment section that Senator Ossoff is doing a terrific job, essentially with streamlining the Post Office, including supplying postal workers with a fleet of electric vehicles. Good news indeed and so glad I contributed a little something to his campaign 😊
Peter please go back into your post and correct the spelling of his name. Ty - S

I made calls for his election in Georgia (even though I live in Texas) and I'll be happy to do it again!
Inspiring and empowering! Thank you, Simon and John Ossoff

and I just sent him some $, too!
We ask sincerely that you step up to lead the Senate instead of senator Schumer!!!!!!❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
I’m going to donate. I’ve had trouble sleeping lately. I needed this. Has a real “when you walk through a storm” quality. Thank you.
MY Senator!!
Proud to claim him and Senator Warnock as my US Senators. Please help support him!

Thank you! I too was brought up in NY and feel the same. And have been avidly supporting them both, though not on the campaign trail.

This is one of the major advantages today as opposed to even 4 years ago - the ability to Zoom and communicate through Substack. A united force!

Carol, great to know that you are tuned in here. Keep up the good work!!
Excellent interview! He is a positive and powerful leader! I donated to him a couple weeks ago and will continue to do so through Hopium!
Thank you for this interview. Donated $200 to his campaign.

It’s pretty sickening, isn’t it? Also pathetic.
My sentiments exactly. I refuse to lie down for this loathsome individual and his cronies.

Donating now!! Very impressed and always have been
Need more like him
Thank you Simon and Jon. I need some HOPIUM.
