Abundant August Fare - politics slows down in August, and so will Hopium. To keep you going during this lighter month I’ve put together a post with some of our most important recent work - briefings, presentations, discussions, pods, posts and encouragement to get involved in FL, OH and VA.
Get to these things as you can over the next few weeks. The top lines on it all - Joe Biden and the Democrats are having a very good summer, and Republican talking points are having a very bad one.
Ohio’s Last Day of Voting is next Tuesday, August 8th - You can learn more and find ways to contribute and volunteer here. Still plenty of time to sign up for a shift of calls or texts, and make a donation. Recent polling is encouraging, but we need to keep doing the work. More Good Economic News - Lots of good news in recent days:
Second quarter GDP growth hit 2.4%, significantly higher than anticipated
Consumer confidence hit a two-year high
Another inflation measure, the PCE, came in at 2.4% annualized. This is very good news.
2nd quarter growth in Europe higher than expected
The monthly jobs report comes out this Friday. To prep be sure to check out my write-up of the last jobs report, which is full of good data and talking about the success of the Biden economic plan.
DeSantis Hits Single Digits in Ohio - Bad news for this very bad candidate keeps coming, daily it seems. The latest bit of terrible news is that we now have a poll with him in third place, and in single digits. Brutal stuff. Via 538:
Big Shout Out to Ruth Ben-Ghiat - On Friday, I was lucky enough to join the historian Ruth Ben-Ghiat for her weekly get-together with her Substack community. It was a great conversation, and I strongly recommend subscribing to her Substack, Lucid. Dr. Ben-Ghiat has been one of my most important teachers in this age of Trump, and getting to know her work is very much worth your time.

When you SEE the US map covered with dots representing projects the BIL is funding and toggle to private investment projects
by state and understand Biden is forcing these projects to use American workers with American made materials....it is so much easier to understand how Bidenomics is doing the heavy lifting & leaves me asking WHY hasn’t ANY of President done this in the last 30 years! ( Corporate greed is likely).
This investment affects mostly rural areas and those voters need to understand BIDEN is breathing life back into their forgotten towns, not any R’s or their word salads.
