I applaud the spirit and execution of the Resolutions Project. If you don’t mind, I’d like to toss a different kind of project into the ring, one conceived to convince enough House Republicans to declare as independent, caucusing with Dems, to #FlipTheHouseThisSummer. That way we don’t have to wait until January 2027 to start shredding and impeaching throughout Trump’s #OverreachRampage.

I call it #ProjectCarrot, including tactics after establishing our #BlueHouse including the notion of presidential censure.

Spoiler alert: What if Trump knows that if he’s impeached and removed from office he can’t keep his $400 million jet?

Here’s the link. Please read and ponder the possibilities.

I have writing to my two senators from NC and my House of Representative of what they must do. Here is a copy of that letter that I did today:

I wrote you in the last 2 days of 4 things I would like you to do. It is important and this must be done. There is no other option than to do these things. I want the USA to still be the USA that I know. It is slowly turning in something that I never grew up in. You must do what you can to mitigate the damage that Donald Trump is doing and what MAGA is doing. Doing the right thing is not easy, but you must do this. Here are the 4 things that I would like you to do:

1) Stand with Ukraine and work to block Trump’s selling out of the West to Putin 2) Roll back Trump’s terrible tariffs 3) Block the expansion of ICE and the use of the military on our streets 4) End the war on science, higher education and the public health of the American people, and demand the removal of Bobby Kennedy (aka “the quack) from the leadership of HHS.

Please do this as there is no choice if we want the USA to be the USA. What MAGA is doing is unAmerican and must stop.

Sincerely,

Matthew

Awesome, just awesome! The Resolutions Project is communities all across America speaking up in a loud and crystal-clear voice to defend our Constitution and democracy against the attacks of Mad Wannabe King Donald.

I applaud the great work of Deborah Potter and Rachel Poliner. They are showing us how good, intelligent resistance is contagious!

Sorry to not engage with the material, but does anyone know where more information is on Ken Martin’s effort to get Dems registered? Just saw more statistics on the drop in democratic registrations between 2020 and 2024 and know that was going to be one of Ken’s priorities. I remember he mentioned it a bit in the interview Simon did with him.

Yes, I reference that NYT story and recommend watching my discussion with Tom Bonier. Tom has been the one bringing this to the family for the past few years and the NYT analysis builds on his. As Ken Martin and Jane Kleeb has told us in their visits to us part of the unprecedented money the DNC is pouring into state parties is to once again doing partisan voter reg, something we stopped doing 20 years ago. Ken Martin is turning a big battleship around and we cannot expect immediate results. But everyone understands the problem; we have an initial solution; and as I have said here a million times I hope everyone at Hopium volunteers with their state parties to jumpstart these necessary efforts.

Awesome, thanks! Yeah I was really happy to hear that was part of the strategy going forward and increased my financial commitment to the DNC after the interview. I’ll go watch that interview with Tom. I might have missed it.

Simon…….you brought us 2 great examples of how the “white haired old ladies” that miller mocked yesterday will light his despicable behind on fire and defeat his disgusting world view. Thanks……from another white hied lady!

Fantastic work by Deborah and Rachel. My really red town is not going to take this on and NJ does have projects elsewhere in the state, so I'm working to re-elect my great Dem state assembly candidates and elect Mikie as our next governor. Today I'm meeting with my activist posse to strategize about what we're doing to help move these state elections in our direction in November.

A great piece by Quinta Jurecic on how the regime can mess w elections without any legal right to do so - and what we can do about it [gift link]: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/08/trump-mail-voting-election-machines/683934/?gift=woWIUxw7PQkPWVjhh-qn3rxomR_RXwfXZlvae5ipT3o&utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share

Writing the VA postcards, and prioritizing self-care. I really must stress to folks, please don't burn yourselves out. I force myself to take a day off social media/tech each week, and try to get outside and walk every day and it really helps. In the gun safety community, we really prioritize this because the work is slow and incremental, and it can be draining and debilitating - as Shannon Watts used to say, it's the "unglamorous work of grassroots organizing." Our fight is slow and incremental, too - we will not see the results immediately, but each of us in our own way is moving the cause forward. Keep showing up, and keep doing the work, and take care of each other!

Keep going!

Love this, and yes, please do take care of yourselves, everyone! As it happens, I spent the morning writing a piece about the meditative benefits of a backyard wildlife habitat, and how to create one, so your comment really resonated with me.

Go outside and look at something green and leafy, all!

"we will not see the results immediately, but each of us in our own way is moving the cause forward. "

until we do... Sometimes it just "pops" and you never know when that will be or what will precipitate it, so that is why we keep showing up and doing the work.

A friend and I have been doing the One Million Rising training in which the Indivisible organization trains people to train others in their communities about authoritarianism and non-cooperation. Tonight, in our third training in our community, I am going to talk about Hopium's Resolution Project, and I hope to get some volunteers to help me bring forth a resolution to the East Providence, RI city council.

Emily, that's great and I'd bet it'll be easy to find RI history to include. Have you read Stow's resolution yet? It's another good model that includes local impacts. I imagine East Providence will be hard hit from the ugly boondoggle bill.

Thank you for the link to the followup of the original Mothership article. Just this morning I had an email from one the scam PACS, STOP TRUMP trying to get money out of me. I'm really tired of my email address being passed around to these scammers. Apparently I fit the demographic for these predators. Sorry PACS but I have all my faculties and you go onto the unsubscribe list. Go Rachel and Deborah. My weekly Fox Takedown motorcade is this Saturday. Next week I'm signed up for my rep Greg Stanton's town hall.

Update on my "what ya gonna do when ICE shows up at your workplace/business/church" project, in which I'm asking my own network what the plan is where they are, and providing them with resources:

Passing around the link for printable "Know Your Rights" wallet cards, to everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, or immigration status. Can be printed on ordinary printer paper at home. Put extras in your wallet to give someone else.

ICE whines about people knowing their rights, so let's make sure everyone does:

During the 250th Lantern Service at Old North Church in April (as in, lantern that showed one if by land, two if by sea), Heather Cox Richardson and Mayor Michelle Wu both spoke. One theme across both was just that - not only is no one born a hero, they likely don't even know they're a hero in the moment.

I think it was Mayor Wu who mentioned something Paul Revere wrote in his journal (apparently, he kept a journal!) on the day of the big ride, that he had a ride to do that night and wasn't sure it would matter.

Looking at the Resolutions (in progress) page, is it safe to conclude that there are no resolutions in Georgia yet? (Completed or in progress.)

I forgot to say: Please, don't everyone respond at once. I guess this means there is no one who has awareness of all the resolutions in progress.
