We voted on Saturday here in Arlington for the first day of Saturday early voting. The lines were long! I hope that's a good sign. However, we do need everyone who can to help out on the phones. Over the last few weeks, we've received at least a dozen nasty VOTE NO mailers filled with disinformation and maybe 4 or 5 VOTE YES mailers. There's lots of disinformation out there and we need all hands on deck. I'll be working as a poll greeter at my precinct on ED handing out VOTE YES info. Thanks, everyone.

Yeah, they're even saying President Obama's against the measure. Absurd.

Um.. should we recommend that Trump take the Montreal Cognitive Assessment test again and pay attention to the question about what a doctor "looks" like and what a Red Cross worker "looks" like?

'cause, I dunno.....

I’m working at Courthouse in Arlington tomorrow and Thursday to encourage voters to vote YES! I volunteered to do the same in Lyon Park on Election Day. I’ve already sent plenty of postcards to voters all over the state.

Hi Robert, We voted at Madison on Saturday. I'll be working at Williamsburg Middle School on ED. I've also sent lots of postcards and made phone calls on the Rural GroundGame/Network NOVA phone calls. Claire

Awesome, really looking forward to watching this interview a little later this afternoon.

I did the phonebank for VA last Thursday and am signed up for the one this Thursday. A quick word to my fellow "oh god I could never be a telemarketer" introverts. This ain't that. You won't be trying to sell someone something they don't need or get them to part with money. It's calling people who are most likely to vote yes anyway, and just encouraging them to vote, giving them information like polling location if they need it, and really just letting them know that another human being really cares about their vote.

Check it out. The folks who put this on are a lot of fun, with good energy, and you'll start off with an inspiring talk from Simon. Then a really good (I've had some phonebank trainings, this one's top notch) training on what to do, background information, and so on. Then you start making calls, but always with the Zoom call still open in the background so you can get questions answered, report good calls, or get support if you get the rare unhappy call.

For me, it's really rewarding. I always get people thanking me for volunteering, and a lot of people who plan to vote soon. I usually have at least a few calls where I feel that I helped someone get information they needed, or was able to at least support the idea that their vote mattered. The best part is when I relax a little after the first few calls and I'm just talking to another person on the phone as one human to another. Hope to see you there!!

Hi John, Thank you for your message. As a long-time phonebanker, I echo your comments. As I wrote to one of our Community Meeting members (Glenn Kirschner) who is brand new to phonebanking, it's always the first few calls to get you going. Then you are at your best when you feel like you're chatting with someone in a coffee shop. She got back to me last night and said other than some tech glitches at the start -- which happens to almost everyone -- she finallly got going. She plans to come back and make more calls!

That’s a great way to put it, “like chatting with someone in a coffee shop.”

Thank you SO much for that explanation, John! We dedicated introverts appreciate the enthusiastic pep talk and solid info to nudge us to the phone banks.

I’m struggling to get the link to work to sign up for the Hopium phone banking. I’m sure it’s me but can anyone point me in another direction?

The link Simon just provided worked for me on my iphone and on my dinosaur Windows computer using the Edge browser. I noticed when I googled "Rural Ground Game Simon Rosenberg" the first result gets to the same place. (Rural Ground Game is the Virginia group running the phonebanks).

Off topic from Aurora, CO: Indivisible just published results of a commissioned poll about the recent No Kings 3 rally/event at https://indivisible.org/news/national-survey-on-no-kings-3-protests/? There is also a link to the crosstabs for the data nerds.

Huge participation and involvement!

Great call with Don Scott. Had not heard him speak, he’s a terrific communicator. It seems like the energy in VA is similar to what was in CA - the referendum is becoming as much about fighting back against the crazy and illegal things Trump is doing as it is about simple redistricting.

Did a VOTE YES bridge brigade in South Reston, VA last Tues, phone banking on Thurs eve and a visibility event Saturday afternoon in Reston which got fabulous feedback from drivers! Almost more so than NK rallies. Feeling cautiously good!
