Simon - great to hear from Speaker Scott! Thank you. Virginia is such a beautiful state that deserves proud Democratic government. One word on the minimum wage. I am so old that my first jobs in high school were for less than $3 per hour in the early 1970s. The thought that there are folks in our country working for just over double that - fifty years later - is absolutely obscene. In Illinois, where I live, the minimum wage is $15 and needs to be raised again. We lost something very important when we lost the time when a laborer - someone we all count on in our society (garbage collector, customer service rep, street crews) - can't raise a family on their salary. I wouldn't be mad if Governor Pritzker raised ours again to $18 or $20 an hour. It would still be damn difficult to raise a family on that. Let's stop demeaning people who do work we count on.
Thanks for boosting Virginia Dems once again. It didn’t come up but the disinformation campaign against the YES vote, funded by Peter Thiel has been very extensive and very nasty. All Repubs know how to do anymore to try to win is lie their a**es off and hope to leave voters confused and deceived enough to be picked off. One more reason they so deserve to be beaten.
It has been such a delight to see how profoundly Trump’s attempt to push for even-more-extreme Republican gerrymanders has backfired. That’s in huge part thanks to savvy Democratic politicians such as Don Scott of Virginia. Yet another great interview by Simon.
I see why you're so impressed with Speaker Scott, Simon. Wonderful and inspiring conversation. I don't suppose Scott would consider moving to Montana ... heh, heh.
What a dose of Hopium to listen to Speaker Don Scott!
He's a very impressive man, and as Speaker has made very impressive accomplishments. It's so great to hear about WINNING the fight for everyday Americans.
What an impressive leader is Mr Scott!

Agree on the travesty of $7ish minimum wage. And that it's a great loss when people at the bottom of the pay scale can't afford to bring up a family.
RIGHT ON!
Great interview! Thank you Simon and Speaker Scott. I’ve been spending my weeks writing postcards to VA (for April 21) —
Sounds like Virginia is doing great things under Democratic leadership. Very impressive!!!
