Simon - I believe you are on the right track in your ideas for how to focus and fight. We are much stronger together and we need to "think outside the box" in terms of stopping the destruction. I love how you are finding and highlighting great people and examples of this concept that are already in place and have been successful (at least in part). Thank you, and please take care of yourself as we all "go up a gear"!
I have an idea that might be helpful to get more out of us Hopium folks - suggest you put together a very FOCUSED action plan and ask us all to participate (like you do with the donation suggestions). For example, make a short script and ask us to CALL Shumer and Jeffries and beg them to do some of the things you advocate. Ask us to call our electeds and encourage them to put pressure on the congressional leadership to set up these committees and have more public activities so voters can see them resisting (but please focus on one thing at a time - I can't call and recite 5 paragraphs about different things at the same time). And maybe highlight some of the organizations that you feel are being creative with addressing this new world for donations in addition to candidates. You are a fantastic strategist and I think the Hopium community is a tool that could be even more effective - use us to help jump start things, because as you say we need to act with urgency, so many things are getting destroyed right now.
thank you so much for all you (and your team) do!!
LOVE these discussions! They give us information, hope and stiffer spines. You noted in your earlier post today the hearing Ds were having regarding the lawlessness of DHS. I watched some of it--victims, American citizens, from Chicago, LA, Minneapolis testifying about the horrors they endured, some of which we've seen on video. And Renee Good's two brothers also testified. I was running on the treadmill while watching and felt myself suddenly running faster, my heart rate and breathing accelerating with anger. These witnesses were SO brave. And yet SO selfless--each one said they were speaking not for themselves but for the tens of thousands of detained and deported who are separated from their loved ones. It was inspiring and infuriating.
Hi everyone, I am re-posting my comment from yesterday regarding Resist and Unsubscribe. The more people who can unsubscribe from just one of the list companies, the more leverage we generate. The great things about Democrats is that we are able to walk and chew gum at the same time. 😀 Thank you.

The another area that is not getting enough attention is the complete silence of Corporate America. What is the purpose of "f*ck you money", if you don't tell this Administration to f*ck off? We need to call out their silence and inaction and put real pressure on them. It is time for them to stand up, be accountable, and tell this Administration to stop this un-American actions.
Please check out this site. https://www.resistandunsubscribe.com/ This is an organized, sane way for the average person to apply the only pressure that Corporate America understands, money. Simply unsubscribe from as many of the listed services as you can. Does not matter on how many you can unsubscribe from, just one is great. Each of us have are own circumstances, do what you/ your household can do. The key is duration. It needs to be a minimum of a month. Hope you will check it out, act and share.
FYI: Don't think this kind of pressure campaign doesn't work? The most recent example of how well this works is when ABC cancelled Kimmel, million of subscribers cancel Hulu. All of a sudden Kimmel is back on the air.
Thanks, Hank, for re-posting this. Several Hopium members have referred to Resist & Unsubscribe since your original post and I think it could catch on within our community. In my view, our puchasing-nonpurchasing power is one of the areas where we have the greatest leverage over a group that has showed little inclination to stand up to the injustice of the current administration. Hopium member, Tom Thumb, made this point in one of his comments in an earlier post today, and certainly Galloway makes a convincing argument to this effect.
Happy to do it will and will try to re-post daily through the end of the week. Hopefully people are sharing this with people in their social circles. The more that this gets out, the better.
I'm in agreement with you and Tom Thumb. Actions like this give us agency and fulfills a need to do something immediately. Protesting, donating, volunteering, etc., etc. are all great but the tech billionaires and this administration don't care. They don't care about public option. Only when the S&P 500 or bond markets react negatively to one of their actions, do they change course.
My hope is that this will scale up nationally to the point where 10,000,000s are taking action. BTW 3.5% is ~12,000,000 people.
Thank You 🙏🏼 Simon, for this fantastic piece that pulls together content from numerous sources, including your own contributions, it really helped raise my hopes today just when I was feeling depressed and discouraged by all the 🤮💩 I’ve been hearing about Trump and his lawless feckless behavior‼️ I was so inspired by Julia Spiegel and what she is doing for us with GovAct that I immediately decided to set up a recurring monthly donation to the organization to help fund (and hopefully expand) their incredibly important work‼️ I am repeatedly reminded, as you point out in your discussion with AG Rayfield, that in many ways what is keeping us from falling directly into authoritarian dictatorship here in the USA is FEDERALISM‼️ It’s not going to save us from this assault on its own but it provides an important bulwark against the MAGA onslaught and we need to continue to leverage it and strengthen it as we move forward. And now, where are all those Republicans who were all so indignant about Democrats infringing on the sovereignty of state‘s rights⁉️😡😵😱🤬
In honor of Black History Month and the iconic Montgomery Bus Boycott, I’d like to share this page, “RESIST AND UNSUBSCRIBE”, from Professor Scott Galloway of NYU and Prof G Media: https://www.resistandunsubscribe.com. Dolos and the Tech Lords care a great deal about their growing pile of “Benjamins” and the stock market. So, they will likely become unhappy if they lose customers on a consistent basis. Funny, “The Masters of the Universe” often forget that the USA is 70% consumer spending: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/americas-19-trillion-consumer-economy-in-one-chart/ . So, we vote with our purchases (or not) every day.

Folks:
Always remember that the current regime is about eliminationism; therefore, they need to create a network of nationwide filtration camps and the unaccountable staff to operate them (i.e. ICE, CBP, and so on). This reality is a war on the nation’s changing demographics. So, the greatest fear of MAGA/Republicans, Miller, Bannon, Seven Mountains Dominionists, Opus Dei, the Klan, and Nazis everywhere is relative birthrates (e.g. controlling access to abortions and contraceptives).
The CDC data now confirms that “minority” women now produce just over 50% of the live births: https://abc7ny.com/post/minority-births-make-majority-us-first-time-new-study-zucker-school-medicine-finds/18510216/ . More importantly, these “minority” births are the only thing keeping the economic demographics positive for this country. The die has already been cast, and the objective of racial cleansing by the eliminationists will fail as it did with their predecessors decades ago.

AGs interviewed - I think you interviewed MA AG Andrea Campbell last fall? She didn’t make it into your answer to AG Rayfield’s question. 😊
There are a lot of people who don’t understand Federalism. If you don’t have a good knowledge of US history/government, the name itself might be confusing as it can be construed as focusing on the Federal rather than State governments.
Paramount on our collective mind right now is the plan the regime have in place to take over elections in blue states. It would be helpful to learn what states are planning in the effort to counter interference in the '26 midterms and the presidential election in '28. I've read about ideas people have and many sound good. We need to see a blueprint. Soon.
Simon - Jim Acosta is very concerned about the Kennedy Center situation - can you loop him in on your efforts to elevate the issue and push for opposition to Trump’s plans? Jim has a good profile and reach, and could help galvanize opposition.

Yes, a great interview! Simon included AG Campbell in the write-up and her picture made the video (20:49).

Thanks for this one. I had missed the other six and will have to catch up.
Federalism is a huge angle in our response. cf Trump's statement today about the states as agents for federalizing elections.
(Also I get a sticker for having voted for him.)
