Today, I called both of my senators to thank them for their efforts to thwart this horrible regime. I, luckily, have proactive Democratic senators.

I used 5calls.org. to let them know that H.R.1 (Big Ugly Bill) is NOT acceptable and to oppose it, unilaterally.

There are SO many “nuggets” in that bill that will harm 99% of Americans. From cutting hugely popular and needed social services to selling off public woodlands for the wealthy to profit, and SO much in between.

Hopium – "Hope with a plan." And now seeing the results after thousands – millions! – of us carried out patriotic actions according to plan, we have even more reason to hope!

If from time to time you feel despondent, you can repeat these words from Andor to yourself: "I have friends everywhere."

Simon, thank you for the great inspiration last night!

I'm urging Democrats to continually point out that we HAD a bill that would have fixed our border/immigration issues and Trump ordered DC Rs to refuse to even give it a vote. And, sufferers of Trump Submission Syndrome that they are, they obeyed. Every time immigration and the border come up, we should be reminding Americans of this.

I called Congressman Raskin and Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen and urged them to get louder at opposing Trump's budget bill, especially the provisions that will sell off the lands that America holds in sacred trust for future generations in our parks and wilderness. I'm writing postcards to North Carolina voters today.

I'm also sharing with my baseball-fan of a grandson the Dodgers' brave stand against ICE. Would love to see all major league teams take this stance.

Absolutely right about everything. One problem is accepting the personification of a movement in the person of the individual presently holding the office of the President. The cabal of wealth has spent probably a trillion dollars over fifty years to gain ascendance. It will continue with or without "He Who Shall Not Be Named," and believing otherwise is dangerous.

I do not believe this is a good use of our collective time, 1) as it is not likely to ever happen 2) our opponent is Trump and the Rs and that is where our focus must remain

Donated to Sherrill and Osoff. Do we yet have the language of the resolution that a Hopium member was taking to her city council? I am very interested in building on that.

In addition to featuring my book (https://www.amazon.com/You-Are-Not-Alone-Effective/dp/B0F6YXXTG4) in op-eds in the Philadelphia Inquirer & Sacramento Bee, the book was highlighted yesterday on the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle (https://www.sfchronicle.com/politics/joegarofoli/article/not-done-protesting-trump-yet-activists-options-20380279.php) highlighting "dozens of ways people can plug into activism."

Vaccine access tends to get lost in the shuffle of all the craptastic things this administration is doing, but the ACIP meeting is taking place. Katelyn Jetelina's post has some important information about what to expect. Some of the members replacing the ones thrown off the committee are out-and-out anti-vaxxers.

An excerpt from her post:

"Who will step in if the government is out? Nothing can replace the U.S. government, but the Vaccine Integrity Project—an outside group created in anticipation of RFK Jr.’s move—will meet this summer to discuss fall vaccines. Professional organizations, like the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, will continue making evidence-based recommendations. Ideally, these groups will coordinate to minimize public confusion.

Will my insurance cover a vaccine my doctor orders if it is not ACIP-recommended? Insurers aren’t necessarily bound to ACIP. They would likely make decisions based on costs, and preventing illness is far cheaper than treating it. For example, it’s far cheaper to cover a Covid-19 vaccine during pregnancy than a NICU stay.

Would it be possible to get vaccines in Canada if necessary? Yes.

What vaccines could be taken off the market at this meeting? ACIP will vote on recommendations for RSV and flu vaccines, including those with thimerosal. Votes on other routine vaccinations, like MMR, polio, HPV, and Hep B, are not on the docket.

Would removing thimerosal-containing flu vaccines cause a shortage? I would expect this ACIP group to recommend removing them. The good news is that this only accounts for a small percentage of flu doses in the U.S. (5-7%), so we won’t run out of supply. The greater harm would be to public confidence, particularly globally, where many are still used."

Hi all. I was unable to jump on the call last night but will listen to the recording, and am looking forward to hearing from Tom Bonier!

I have continued to make calls--all offices closed yesterday but left VMs for all. Still inspired by Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman's (D-NJ12) call to action earlier this week. She said keep doing what we do, keep the pressure on. Said they are doing procedural stuff to gum up the works as much as they can. They are fighting hard and we need to keep on them to hop on the socials and share this info with constituents.

Just signed off my weekly VoteRiders shift. (Help getting ID to register and vote). This should fire you up: I spoke w a veteran in his 70s who has been unable to get ID in TX bc he was born at home and does not have a birth cert. This is common amongst people of color in the South. He has a service record but the TX DMV doesn't care that he has that and and expired DL, they want birth cert. Someone that age who has served our country should not have to be dealing with this crap. Fortunately, the VA referred him to VoteRiders, and he will get the help he needs. The state of TX is a beautiful, diverse and fascinating state, and I can't wait till we flip it and get these fools & criminals out of Austin (Abbott and Paxton, I'm looking at you!).

Set up recurring donation for Mikie, NJ needs another D governor to stave off the Orange Menace.

Keep going!
