Despite Rs Spending Millions Dems Contest A +22 Trump District Tonight. It's Another Deeply Encouraging Result For Us
We have one more to win in 2025 - Eileen Higgins for Mayor of Miami next Tuesday
Evening all. Inspiring Aftyn Behn left it all out there on the playing field for us these last few months and made a +22 Trump district competitive tonight. The final margin will be somewhere between 6 and 9 points. Republicans spent millions. The Speaker campaigned there this week. Trump himself did remote events. And we still overperformed our 2024 results in TN-7 by at least 14 points.
I’m grateful to those of you who donated to this race and volunteered. While it was always a long shot, Aftyn Behn, made it a race and earned our support. She was a great candidate, and I was proud to support her.
It is clear now that the national playing field has tilted significantly towards the Dems. We’ve seen it in special elections across the country this year; in the blowout November elections; and now tonight in deep red TN-7. There are 40 House seats held by Republicans who won by 12 points or less, and a 8-12 point shift in the national map would make the AK, IA, OH and TX Senate races competitive and put the Senate in play.
2026 is clearly shaping up to be a year of opportunity for us and for the pro-democracy movement.
Before we head into 2026 there is one more 2025 race to win - next Tuesday’s run-off for mayor of Miami. Our candidate Eileen Higgins won the most votes in the November election and can flip this seat blue next week. Here’s a bit more about her, and please consider donating or volunteering in the days ahead.

Great work everyone. Let us give a big collective thank you to Rep. Aftyn Behn and her team, and let’s hit the ground running tomorrow - Simon

Thank you Aftyn - well done! Proud of you!
She ran a great campaign and was a really credible, strong candidate. I hope she runs again- maybe for statewide office. It occurred to me, seeing things with the perspective I’ve learned here, that her campaign must also have strengthened and energized the state party in Tennessee.
