Devon is the very capable Executive Director of the Maine Democratic Party, and is helping lead Maine Dems through this critical process of picking a new Senate nominee
Imagine if the Dems did something like this at a national level after J'Biden decided to drop out. People getting involved in democracy. What a concept!
100%. I've been struck how the ugly of government abuse, like Minneapolis; or a dropped out candidate in Maine emergency, seems to bring out the best in our resistance. I'm not sure I can articulate it well, but whatever crap we get slung on us, it makes us smarter, bolder, more assertive and fair. This is fascinating to me.
I second that! I had to laugh at the extra-large energy drink she displayed there for a second. They'll probably sleep for two days straight after the 25th.
I'm an old guy now, but I remember when I was a young hotshot leader like Devon. I can't express how impressed I have been with all the state chairs you've had on, Simon, and what capable hands we're in. This situation that Devon got thrown at her would topple men twice her age. Maybe women, too, but definitely men. She appears to be managing with grace and panache. Yay Devon and the Maine Dems. Let's do this!
Just SO damned impressed with what the Maine Dems are doing and how they're doing it. Amazing talent and commitment under incredibly difficult circumstances. It validates Ken Martin's DNC strategy of building State Parties to compete everywhere and win anywhere; and that same approach that Simon has guided us through here. Very proud of what Hopium has done in Maine (and other states in the Audacious Expansion effort) and what we continue to do. Let's Finish This!!!
I was reluctant to leave a donation earlier because I was concerned who would get the nomination. After watching this interview, I’m so impressed that I made a donation. Thanks Simon.
She looks tired, but my God, she's more wonderful and exudes even more non-arrogant confidence every time I see her.
SHE MUST RUN FOR OFFICE IN THE FUTURE!!!
I have to watch my budget with contributions at the moment, but I threw caution to the wind and just dropped some more $ into our Maine campaign.
I'm trying to craft my message to my Dem Reps. There's so much to communicate, but it might come down to: "Todd Blanche? Really? Are you kidding me? AG? I am dreaming of his disbarment. Absolutely -- NO!"
I'm a North Carolinian who is thrilled with what Anderson Clayton has done for the state Democratic Party here. I've been listening to Devon Murphy-Anderson bring it for the state party of Maine. And I've just donated to Maine's state party. It gives me hope.
My experience with planning a big event was my wedding in the 90s, which took Peggy and I months and seemed Sisyphean at times, although it came off. Trying to imagine if someone had told us we had two weeks to plan the wedding and oh yeah, you have to run everything by a lawyer too. I'd have imploded. Devon and Charlie are doing a fantastic job up there and especially with making all of this as transparent and inclusive as possible.
Donated a bit more and sending a lot of positive energy. We are rooting for them. Who knows, maybe all this will turn out to be a positive and unifying event for the Maine Dems, giving the new candidate a boost in the way national party conventions do.
I continue to be so impressed with Devon and Charlie and the entire team at Maine Dems. I have donated to the recent fund you set up, Simon.
A question: I’m guessing that Graham Platner likely has a campaign war chest that might be sizeable. If so, he should turn it over to the Maine Democratic Party to help fix the mess he created. Is this legally possible?
If he has any undistributed funds, and if he has one ounce of integrity (which is questionable), he absolutely should do it.
According to reports, he raised over $16 million but, as of recently, has used $14 million and, I suspect, will exit the scene with even less than that, given outstanding bills.
Terrific short interview, Simon, with an impressive young Executive Director! And your analogy about early money in a campaign being like fielding a sports team well ahead of the playoffs is spot on. Made my first donation specifically to the Maine effort.

Maine showing us the way.

Devon, you're doing great. Please do get sleep!

I love the Mainers!

Incredibly impressed. Know Maine will come through for our country!

Hi Simon, I canceled my subscription in 2024 and I am still receiving a annual $50 charge. Please cancel my subscription and send confirmation Thanks
Have refunded your money. Good luck with everything!

Great and timely interview.

Definitely a breath of fresh air is blowing in the state of Maine!
An amazingly competent & smart state chair.
