The most certain way to "Get to 55" – is "Get to 75".

And by that I mean a 75 % turnout rate for Democrats this November. If European countries can do this, there is absolutely no good reason why we shouldn’t be able to! Just imagine: This will ensure a Biden landslide, flipping the House with a comfortable majority, holding the Senate and maybe increasing our edge – and a Blue Tsunami in gubernatorial, state legislature and other down-ticket races, including school boards, sherifffs and elected judges.

Also: This would mean positive results in referenda to protect reproductive rights wherever those are on the ballot – directly or indirectly.

I'm very happy this organization exists. I did not know about it until someone pointed out to me a week or so ago one of these Hopium comment threads.

Jarrod,

FYI: if you check out “ comments” on Hopium for August 23 ( or 22?) you will find many different resources. Simon had invited us to comment on our “ hard work” and so many HC community members commented. I learned about The States Projects and Field Team 6 and many other great groups I had never heard of from reading these 100s of comments. And very fun to learn directly what people are up to to save our democracy. Now I am seeing a new site ( Connections) that seems to be attempting to build a directory similar to this but at a national level. I jump back to that August date quite often to absorb more info from those resources. Blue Wave, Nope, All the Indivisibles, CEBV, the amazing work and presentations going on in New Mexico and Arizona just to name a few. Lots of models for success lots of inspiration. The variety and number of groups helped me understand why Simon is so confident about all the “ activist patriots” out there defending democracy in the united states 🇺🇸

Excellent! Do you have any statistics from Field Team 6: new voter registrations so far, sorted by state? Naturally, I am especially interested in the rate of success in swing states – and in my book that includes North Carolina, Florida and Texas.

I don't. I'm sure they do.

I donated to Jacky Rosen yesterday and today I heard she is standing with the non-Democrat Manchin against certifying Mr. Mingi for the judiciary. I wrote her and asked that she send my donation back. I hold elected officials to a higher standard and her voting against this well qualified Biden appointee is a lot lower that any standard.

I listened to the speech Senator Cory Booker gave in defense of Judge Adeel Mangi. Really powerful! Every Senator should have been deeply moved.

I am sincerely disappointed in the decisions by Senators Cortez Masto and Manchin, and now Senator Rosen, to block certification of this eminently qualified nominee who has done no wrong. Judge Mangi deserved better.

Perhaps the downside to truth social - not as widely seen as Twitter - maybe a double edged sword ?

Very encouraging seeing Biden-Harris campaign staffing up in Florida. I believe there is a helluva opportunity here for both President and US Senate. Democrats are on the right side of the ACA and Social Security and Medicare. Plus, abortion rights are on the ballot. Winning Florida could be an early knockout blow for Democrats.

I would love that ! Very much hoping that they could cut through the Spanish language right wing radio stations as well. At times Florida feels lost, but maybe not - fingers crossed. Afterall nothing should be written off !

Marilyn Lands' amazing 25-point win on March 26 in the Alabama State House District 10 Special Election (i.e., in a ruby red state) gives a strong indication that we may have, not a blue wave, but a blue tsunami. I would like to point to one particular permanent structural change that this could produce in American politics. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) has currently been adopted by states comprising 205 electoral votes, with 101 pending electoral votes in states having partially completed the process of adoption. They only need control of another 65 of these electoral votes to have control of a winning 270, which would enable activation in all future Presidential elections. Pledging their combined electoral votes to the national popular winner, that would permanently render the Electoral College moot. Flipping several state governments from red to blue in a blue tsunami could be just what it takes to achieve the goal.

Can you provide an analysis of how Biden will

win

in the battleground States against Trump and all the spoiler third party candidates?

THIS is very simple!

LOOK at 1) Current and most recent election history; 2) Organization and $$$; 3) Repubs ....

1) Statewide races for Gov, Senator, other others when Staes elect judges, Sec of State, etc.

In EVERY so called battleground states Democrats have won the Governorships, and US Senate races: MN, WI, MI, PA and AZ. GA has been the last fiour Senate races go Dem

2) These networks of Democrats in high places reach down to the county level, where the Dem Party is extremely organized; I'm looking here in AZ and my home-state of PA

3) THESE organizations provide high quality candidates, registration ... and $$$! I'm looking here in AZ where right wing Kerry Lake flounders and the state Repubs are a MESS. I'm looking to PA where Bob Casey is unbeatable for US. Senate and Repubs candidates for Congressional are a MESS. And, NO $$$ flows from national - but to trump coffers.

This is VERY simple, ain't rocket science, and entails MILLIONS of people on the ground being involved, like I and my family, on the ground, in the neighborhoods and state houses, etc.

This assumes that all of the same people will turn out and vote the same way in favor of Democrats AND Biden. It also assumes that Biden’s response to Israel’s war in Gaza does not cause a lot of potential Dem voters to stay home or vote for third party candidates.

I already donated to Ruben (as I’ve done with all your recommendations going back to Janet), but followed your link to view the interview (which I missed that night). I was blown away and donated again just now. Talk about an exceptional candidate for all of us and the face of our future as Democrats! Doing what I can from (Blue) Minnesota. When Simon says “Jump!”, I ask “How high?” Thanks for your experience and leadership, Simon.

We are going to need help in Maryland to keep what would typically be a safe Democratic Senate seat from being picked up by the GOP. The so-called moderate Republican Larry Hogan, who was a very popular governor of the state, and who is viewed quite favorably by many Democrats is running for the Senate seat being vacated by Ben Cardin. The two Democrats running in the upcoming primary are not so well known or popular, and early polls show Hogan in the lead. Hogan has been quite critical of Biden and the president's agenda, calling him a terrible president, and would likely be a solid vote against most Democratic proposals. He is certainly for policies that concentrate income upward. He says he is personally against abortion but would probably be a recusal (at best) on a vote favoring greater abortion rights nationally. Hogan and Trump cannot stand each other, which is a good thing of course. Perhaps Trump will try to undermine Hogan and vice versa. However, I think in Hogan Maryland could get a Senator who is probably a bit more politically conservative than Joe Manchin or K. Synema. With the GOP filibuster being the threat that it is, we cannot afford to lose such a reliably Democratic Senate seat to someone like Hogan. Sadly, I think this will be a close race, and could potentially be a loss for the Democrats.

Any Senator that caucuses with Republicans will be blocking President Biden‘s policies, budgets and judicial nominees, especially if they gain the majority and control of committees and the floor agenda. America cannot afford that.

Thanks, Simon. Heather Cox Richardson had a nice piece today on the last time a President referred to himself as Jesus (as Trump did): Andrew Johnson in 1866. Johnson became so reactionary to re-unification that the backlash to him allowed his opposition to sweep the election and force through the 14th amendment.

Maybe history will repeat itself. Or at least rhyme.

Happy Easter.
