My heart is pounding. So much good news - finally. But......i tell my heart, don't forget. There're going to be appeals and at the end of that road.....the bend-the-knee Supreme Court.

Fight on!

MrsCQ's avatar

I am going to enjoy this good news. The Supreme Court cannot just keep up their fascistic rulings, can they? Oh never mind. Let's just enjoy this good news tonight.

The circle of defiance keeps growing.

Take the wins and enjoy the moment, before steeling oneself for more hard battles ahead.

give yourself a break! enjoy Happy Hour!

The ICE agent was arrested -- in TEXAS, of all places.

That's poetic justice

"Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it," wrote the judge in his ruling. I cried when I read those words.

Should have been completely clear to anyone in the country who pays attention, INCLUDING the spineless in Congress! Soooooo many thing that this criminal in The People's House--NOT his--is doing are under the authority of ONLY Congress!!

Talk about proving just what a completely weak, empty shell of a human he is to be so desperate to see his name everywhere. Those who are actually strong couldn't care less, because that's not the point, only getting stuff done is.

Wow. Very insightful parable from John Cornyn. Many Americans were stunned by what Trump did to John. We are all tired but we fight on by taking inspiration from the Ukrainians.

Deb Gordon's avatar

Jill — and for me, from the Hungarians, as well!

jill_uss's avatar

We will fight like Ukrainians and Vote like Hungarians. Happy Hour Friday 👍

Madam Geoffrin's avatar

How can anyone be stunned by what Trump did to Cornyn? I ask truly curious. I can’t think of anyone who has associated with Trump who came out unscathed.

jill_uss's avatar

I was stunned by what Trump did to John. John voted with Trump 98% of the time. I am an Independent voter and never missed voting in 57 years. Sooo angry since Trump got reelected, my husband feels my personality has changed.

Susan Troy's avatar

Don’t give these creeps any of your essence. They’ve stolen enough already.

Ted N's avatar

Must maintain purity of essence

SW's avatar

hang out with us in the Hopium comments, try to put the anger aside, it doesn't help accomplish the mission

Susan Troy's avatar

Everything Trump touches dies (ETTD).

Leu2500's avatar

too bad he didn't think of it BEFORE this primary

MrsCQ's avatar

Didn't John Cornyn endorse Paxton? I think he said he would support the GOP ticket. Interesting, in spite of Cornyn supporting the ticket (which means Paxton), he posted this parable. hmmm

Susan O’Connor's avatar

Ok, so my work life was devastating today - cuts. But this news and this community just brought in some light. Because I believe the awful macroeconomic conditions are linked directly to this madness- anything that shows progress is good.

KBH's avatar

Hang in there!

Kathy's avatar

Absolutely fantastic news!! Yay!! 🥳

RP2112's avatar

What would be better than Cornyn's posting a parable is if he ran as an independent and took just enough votes away from Paxton to make JT the winner.

Jenny Ellsworth's avatar

That would be pretty funny.

BeeBeeinNYC's avatar

I dare him to muster up the testicular fortitude.

So needed today. Thank you Simon

Happy Happy Hour indeed! It's 1:40 in Oregon but I'm going to celebrate because it's 3 o'clock somewhere! A toast to the scorpion, the frog, and the massive amount of awareness that is building!! Happy weekend, everyone!

Cross country cheers BeeBee!!

I was kvelling like Norm re Kennedy Center.

Eric Lin Doub's avatar

Yes! Take our wins where we get 'em. FAC fare indeed... Thanks, Simon!!

Hey, as Hopium folks know, with the Orange Felon-rapist-traitor ailing and failing, we pro-democracy people should work all the harder, right? One thing I'm doing:

I just made this toolkit to help make sure Dems and Independents "VOTE IN NUMBERS TOO BIG TO RIG!"

It has actions any of us can take to Get Out The Vote:

https://sensational-fenglisu-96222c.netlify.app/

If you like it, share widely. WE ARE GOING TO WIN!

In the Hopium way, it's my honoring the saying "Action is the antidote to despair!" And seeing so much complaining and doomsaying in online comments, I wanted have a quick copy-and-paste method to provide people with ways to TAKE ACTION and MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Cindy May's avatar

Your toolkit is a nice resource. Thanks!

I’m gonna call Cornholio Monday: “put up or shut up.”

MrsCQ's avatar

Cornholio 😂

PianoManSteve's avatar

You know, if I didn’t know better… I would almost think that what’s actually going on and what the Trump administration says is going on aren’t entirely congruent with one another. 🤔🤔🤔😂😂😂

Kate O'Shea's avatar

Wow!!!! So much Simon, thank you :) Gosh, that post from Cornyn is quite poignant. I can’t help hoping that he will try to redeem himself a bit in the seven months he has left in the Senate. And maybe others will look at him and find their conscience. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

Susan Troy's avatar

Yes, it would be, but I’m not holding my breath.

Kate O'Shea's avatar

Me either, but hope (or should I say hopium) springs eternal :)

Susan Troy's avatar

It does indeed. The knowledge that seeds stay in the ground for years before they find a time to surface keeps me going. If a seed can do it, even buried in the dirt, so can we. We grow in beauty together.

Elizabeth T.'s avatar

Tillis is doing it to some extent. Maybe he can coach Cornyn and Cassidy.

Kate O'Shea's avatar

I’ve seen a couple of videos by Stuart Stevens talking about Cornyn and Cassidy when they were just getting into politics. That’s why I thought Cornyn’s story about the scorpion was poignant. From what Stuart said, they both fell very far from the integrity they once had.

mindyoshrainmd's avatar

Don’t trust Tillis at all. He is getting his name recognition out there for a future run. He says outrageous things and gets lots of press coverage but almost always votes with MAGA and never blames Trump, just “advisors”. He ruined NC. He is NOT trustworthy.

Elizabeth T.'s avatar

Oh believe me, I know! I have lived in NC for over 30 years. But little cracks become big cracks, and having MAGA fracture is necessary.

MrsCQ's avatar

Good to know.

Susan Troy's avatar

Personally, I would never trust a MAGA person. I would not endorse them or hold them close to my heart, but I would never trust them after Trump.

Kathy Sowers's avatar

Great news on a Friday! Woo hooooooooooooo!!!!!
