More than 500 law firms have joined a court filing and are backing Perkins Coie in their fight against the Trump Regime. However, the filing is not signed by any of the nation’s 20 largest firms.
Someone ought to publish this list of *Profiles in Cowardice & Shame*.
EDIT: And publish the names of the partners in these feckless law firms as well!
AS-- I think it's time to start punishing the institutions that capitulate (Columbia, with a $13.6 billion endowment, couldn't hold out and sue this mfer?) and especially the lampreys that leverage the evil done to others, like all the firms who responded to Trump’s fatwa against Paul Weiss by swooping in to poach their clients, which led directly to the firm's capitulation.
People often wonder how the ragtag Russian army defeated the Nazi war machine. Answer: every Russian soldier knew that if he took a step backwards instead of forward, Stalin would have him shot. Those who go Vichy or collabo on us should expect to get a haircut for their betrayal.
Interesting – I was not aware that other law firms had been encouraged to poach Paul Weiss’ clients or that this happened. However, I did read an article that detailed why that endowments are not easily repurposed. Usually the donor has specified that it be used for purposes that they have carefully detailed.
I think any talk of violence or measures that might be deemed to be outside the law are not only likely to get people in trouble, but also be very counterproductive.
AS--To be clear, I was speaking metaphorically. Assume I'm talking about non-violent measures that nonetheless hit them where they hurt, ie boycotts and the like.
With the exception of decolonization efforts like our own American revolution, all of which could be resolved simply by getting the colonizers to go home, and a few separatist movements (both failed and successful), I'm not sure I could name any conflict that devolved into violence and ended well for either side (most, it seems, never really end at all once the shooting starts).
If a successful revolution is like walking a tightrope, violence is like adding swirling winds to the challenge. Certainly in our case, the only winners would be the Russians and the Chinese.
Tom, I never suspected otherwise! By the way, yours is a great analysis. :)
My concern is with the Trump Regime, which clearly aspires to draconian autocracy, and how it might twist appearances. We are already seeing this by Attorney General Pam Bondi and the DOJ, Tom Homan and Ice, Kash Patel and the FBI, Kristi Noem and Homeland Security, and other agencies.
It is in this situation that we need an overabundance of caution to not leave *any* digital footprints or utterances that can be willfully misconstrued and used against us.
(This is also why Simon has encouraged us to leave our cell phones at home or to at least turn off location/tracking when attending protests. I too believe this precaution is vital.)
These are *not* normal times – and they are likely to get considerably more dire.
Agreed. I left my phone behind when I went to the protests. Guess I'm going to have to go old school and either dig up or why one of those, what we're they called? Oh yeah, a camera. I'm also thinking maybe, at the risk of some confusion, I need to change my username on here--I had to do it once before for a client, and I believe it's retroactive--what do you think?
Here you go. This story has hit lots of news media; I saw it in WaPo which is paywalled. Not all the reports mention that the 20 largest law firms (measured by revenue) failed to join the lawsuit.
Thank you for this list of folks who are in the LIFE BOAT with us....often it is said that a broken bone mends stronger ...this country is broken, yet with these people (&more) we can be stronger today and with each passing day.
Yes.because of her unexplained silence (at least what I read/hear here in MO, not CA) she no longer deserves a spot (for the time being)--which is very sad for me as I supported and voted for her. But it is MY list, I'm waiting for a pic of her out protesting today. BTW thanks for reading the entire list in order to hmmmm :-)
I so appreciate your thoughtful response. I did see her the other day beginning to speak out....I suspect the gut punch to her needed some time to heal
Great to see you're continuing to grow this! How about the voters of Wisconsin--every single county was bluer this week--with a special shout-out to Milwaukee who, after years of disappointing results, ran out of ballots, as Black and especially Hispanic voters turned out in blue droves. And Escambia County, Florida, a veteran-filled county at the tip of the ruby-red panhandle that went blue for the first time in decades in the week's Congressional special election. And Pennsylvania's 36th district, which is sending a Democrat to the state legislature for the **first time since the 1800s**
On my way to the Statehouse in Indianapolis with a group of friends, some of whom are first timers. The rain isn’t keeping us away and spirits are high. Good luck and have fun, everyone!
AWESOME! I protested 1 & 1/2 hours south of you in Griffin (Spalding County) this morning. 172 strong from Pike, Lamar, Upson, and Spalding counties! Another south metro Hands Off in Fayette County (just south of Hartsfield) this afternoon!
I am so upset. In the middle of the night I woke up in agony. Just got back from the hospital. Called my friends but they said .there will be many more in the next weeks and months. I have to remain in bed and my husband has to go to the pharmacy. I will have him put my signs up on our front lawn tomorrow.
God bless you and keep you safe today. Looking forward to reading your posts and celebrating vicariously
Sarah, I will try and find it! Meanwhile the signs go up in my yard tomorrow! I am near a school, so lots of traffic with moms dropping off their elementary school children.
So incredibly frustrating I'm sure. Just think: you placing your protest signs in your front yard may yeild a larger and longer-lasting impact than you would have had at a protest! Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you so much. I look forward to your posts more than you know - I need that to do list. I am so ticked, I had asked Rep. John Larson and Sen. Richard Blumenthal to attend the rather tiny Torrington, CT Hands Off! and they did. The chair of our DTC had conversations with them. Thank you again for your guidance and commitment!
Oh Gosh, I am sorry to hear that! Hope you feel better soon!

Unfortunately, light rain has moved into our state of CT. Not heavy but hopefully, it stops by noon. Damp, cold, overcast, rainy weather doesn't stop patriots especially in New England. It didn't stop those who fought in the American Revolution either.
We got the exact opposite weather here in Charlotte, NC. The high for the day was 86F - tying the the record high for April 5th. Fortunately the indivisible chapter that sponsored the rally had lots of marshalls circulating and handing out bottles of water for those who forgot to bring one.
Also fortunately the rally ran from 11am - 1 pm so it was in the 78 - 82 range and cloudy.

Marcia great work. And yes, that is what we talk about here all the time. We don't know when those little cracks will become big cracks, or when the tide will turn or the fever will break but none of that can happen unless we keep applying pressure and just keep working as hard we can. After decades the rancid Assad regime fell in Syria last year. We just need to keep fighting.
Honestly, although I am a paid subscriber to 6 sites that I want to help keep alive and healthy, yours is the one that gives me paths to reduce anxiety by DOING something. I make calls, contributions, etc as you suggest (mostly). Just keep guiding us and stay healthy.
I’m not able to attend a rally today, but tomorrow I’m going to back-to-back grassroots organizing events. There’s a ton of grassroots activity out on Long Island and trying to get everyone rowing in the same direction is going to take a lot of discussion!
I will be headed out to St. James Park in San Jose for the Hands Off Protest. I'm reposting this link as Marc Elias interviewed Alison Riggs yesterday after the NC appellate court decision, in case you didn't see it.
I also wanted to update you on J6 convicts who were presenters at a secret partisan event of the Conservative Club of Monterey County in California. Three times they set a venue and three times activists called an emailed the venue host until they cancelled. Ultimately the meeting was held at the fourth venue in Salinas, with 2-3 dozen attendees and 20 or so pro democracy protesters outside the fenced venue.
Rachel Maddow briefly reported on it in the opening segment of her show last night as part of a list of protests around the country. I'm proud of the folks in Monterey area for their vigilant efforts to disrupt the event with violent pardoned felon insurrectionists in their town.
...and over 3500 people at Window on the Bay in Monterey, CA. That's a Huge number, Its rare to get more than 300 protesters there. Women's March 2017 was estimated at 1800.

You take care. You are here in spirit.
Thank you. Blessings to this wonderful community.
You are with us all as we march. Much love to you and I will pray for your healing and peace.
Thank you, in your heart and mind know that I am standing beside you.Praying for ultimate victory.
I hear there is a virtual rally - look on Mobilize? And take care of yourself.
Sarah, I will try and find it! Meanwhile the signs go up in my yard tomorrow! I am near a school, so lots of traffic with moms dropping off their elementary school children.
Take care of yourself for a speedy recovery. ❤️🩹 We know you will be with us in spirit!
Thank you so much.
Bummer. I wish you a speedy and full recovery!
Thanks. I dragged myself outside to put my signs up in the front yard. Now I am back to bed.
Take care and feel better! There will be more protests. Many many more!
Thank you!
Feel better
Thank you.
So incredibly frustrating I'm sure. Just think: you placing your protest signs in your front yard may yeild a larger and longer-lasting impact than you would have had at a protest! Hope you feel better soon.
Take care of yourself 🤗 There are many ways to protest and let your voice be heard. Maybe you can write postcards
Or make a few phone calls. Your health is important.
Virginia, rest up. There will be many more days of these ahead. And feel better! S

Thank you.
Hi everyone! Our Indivisibke groups in derp red Gilbert and Mesa Arizona have over 1750 signups to protest at a large local intersection today!! We just started the Gilbert group 2 months ago!! I’m so grateful for people stepping up and making their outraged voices heard!!!
Yes to A Letter too America. That would be a part of creating a rallying center for Dems and all allies. Hope to input. But get it done. Drop your standards.
Will post photos of MO2D protest St Louis.
On the train to Philly’s rally. Jam packed. Lots of signs. We are doing this.
Again I'd advise changing "our" to "the" in phrases such as "the mad king" or "the president." He isn't "my" or "our" anything!
Stay safe! Please leave your phone at home. Or at least turn off location and tracking. Better yet: invest in a handy Faraday pouch; that blocks all incoming and outgoing signals.
do you honestly believe that's necessary? I hope your comment is in the spirit of "out of an abundance of caution..."
Simon has cautioned us in the past and provided similar advice. Cell phone tracking of the January 6th criminals was instrumental in their prosecution. This maga admin could declare these protests to be illegal after the fact, especially if any violence occurs. These are not normal times.

Agree 100%! I also like Tuta mail, which I use, and mailbox.org, which isn't as secure but still worlds better than gmail
Be sure and let our National Defense Team know about this -- it could be one more option for them besides Signal and Google mail.

A hopeful sign ahead of our nationwide protests today: Indiana Sen Todd Young signed on as a co-sponsor to the Trade Review Act 2025!!! Agreed. Young is a problem but he is not stupid or ignorant or vicious. Unlike Banks.

Be safe out there today. Stay hydrated.
10-15,000 beautiful peaceful protesters. No sign of counter protesters. Felt good.
Where, Michael?
Downtown San Jose, CA
...and over 3500 people at Window on the Bay in Monterey, CA. That's a Huge number, Its rare to get more than 300 protesters there. Women's March 2017 was estimated at 1800.
Good luck everyone! May it be a powerful day!
