I didn't get either. My husband said it's just another attempt at demeaning VP Harris and showing his racism. Maybe trying to make it sound like an African name. Who knows? But I'm pretty sure it is racist.

It's a babbling loser .. blah blah blah

That is always a good bet. It's very similar to how he is always butchering Nkki Haley's birth name and how he always writes Barack HUSSEIN Obama.

It looks like an abbreviation of sorts of Kamabla(ck), to me. This interpretation certainly fits within his racist wheelhouse.

Tricia Ashford's avatar

It might be a typo, but I also think it might be intentional considering he gives nicknames to every other person he calls out in that part of the tweet. If I had to guess, it’s maybe supposed to be a truncated version of “Kamablack”, which is honestly just pathetic, and ironically isn’t even really consistent with his recent narrative about her (which has been that she’s supposedly *not* actually black, but “became black”—whatever that means—when it “benefitted her”).

That video encapsulates everything I thought America was when I was growing up and where I hope we will take it in the future.

The promise of a better life and a fair deal for everyone is in reach, we just need to take make it happen.

Their joyful speeches pair very nicely with a good, chilled American crafts beer. Such as Stone’s Arrogant Bastard Ale.

Yes! The topsy-turvy world has turned right-side up again... this wild election is going to be one for the history books!

That quote from Riley of Omaha about his father in law made my day and really boosted my hope. Walz is a GEM. And she really demonstrated her wisdom in her choice of him as running mate.

Fran's avatar

I've been saying that too - this says a lot about Kamala and her core values and confidence. She keeps exceeding expectations.

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

I was routing for her to pick Walz, but I was amazed at how quickly the two of them clicked - you would think that they had been working together for years!!

Claire McCaskill about Walz (on MSNBC):

"He is the guy JD Vance pretends to be."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlMUBQu2Qzk

I think that her comment is very á propos.

I also thought Walz's response to the idea that he was a radical leftist was spot on. He pivoted to one of his signature pieces of legislation as MN Governor - the bill to guarantee free breakfast and lunch to all MN students. Which leads to more play of that wonderful video where he signs the bill and gets a group hug from the kids.

(Trump's absolutely out of his mind. The bats are not just in the belfry, they're opening a bed & breakfast there.)

He knows he’s losing, just imagine when he does. They, whoever is left, will have to keep him hidden and do zoom court hearings. At the risk of sounding cocky, we’re seeing the beginning of the end of this demented man.

So true - he is so desperate since he is running literally to stay out of prison. It is rather scary actually. He is truly crazy.

Tom Thumb's avatar

Right. He's not running *for* anything, only running *from*

ArcticStones's avatar

No, Trump ran so he could regain power and rewrite history. Should he win, he’ll most likely declare January 6th a national holiday.

Carol Robinson's avatar

Haaaaaaaaaaaa-hahahahahahaha!

ArcticStones's avatar

I am looking forward to a time when the name "Trump" never again appears in the news cycle – except, perhaps, to announce his guilty verdicts and sentencing.

Cissna, Ken's avatar

And, not to be morbid, but given his age and habits it can’t be too far away, his death.

JOY! Trump can fake everything, except joy. He knows no joy. Has no clue what it is. Crushing other people under his heel is not joyful. It’s a totally perverted and corrupt life, and he is dragging gullible people down with him. Americans are not looking for ways to go back or to submit to another four years of pure walking and breathing ugliness. See ya Sept. 18, asshole!

Don Salmon's avatar

Ummm, sorry for being clueless, but what is happening September 18??

Don Salmon's avatar

oh, just looked it up. Sentencing!! Thanks for the reminder, just increased my joy even more:>))))

I'm still giddy with joy from yesterday's rally. It's breathtaking how everything is coming together for Democrats. I changed my Twitter profile photo to that photo of Vice President Harris and Governor Walz with their radiant smiles. I've been Walz pilled for a few weeks so I am happy that everyone else is getting to see what a great choice Vice President Harris made. Looking forward to postcarding with the Hopium community Thursday night. Markers For Democracy hosted Kirsten Engel a few weeks ago and we loved her. My brother lives in Tucson so I am particular hyped about writing for her.

Jason's avatar

As a former Tucson resident I thank you and everyone else for helping there.

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

I'll be there with bells on. Have you gotten a Harris Walz t-shirt yet, Ellen? ;-)

Jason's avatar

Amazing rally last night. I never watch these things but now am going to stream each one while I work on letters and postcards.

I love that Walz has proudly provided free school lunches. That's been a hobby horse of mine since back when I lived in AZ and the Republicans cut funding and forced the schools to literally take food out of the hands of hungry children. Seriously, the schools were instructed to take the lunch tray away. It broke my heart. Now I have the opportunity to fight for a ticket that will feed children and do so much other good stuff.

Harris/Walz are truly bringing the joy back. It's a huge contrast to the darkness and hate of Trump/Vance.

TC's avatar

I agree but they are not easy to find live streams of. I do not understand why the campaign team doesn't live stream them from their YouTube account or something. One place to go to watch every rally live.

Jackie Ralston's avatar

Brian Tyler Cohen seems to be livestreaming a lot of content lately on his YT channel: https://www.youtube.com/@briantylercohen . He also isn't as obnoxious and intrusive with comments as network commentators (:cough: MSNBC :cough:) tend to be.

TC's avatar

Yeah I don't want or need any commentators. Just point a camera at the speakers when they walk on stage until they walk off. So much effort goes into writing and presenting these speeches but it's impossible to get an official, unedited, live broadcast of them without having some talking head constantly cutting away or providing unwanted comment.

Simon, OMG that Trump quote. Unhinged for sure. Remember, this is the man who said he could shoot someone in broad daylight on Fifth Ave and get away with it.

Meanwhile, on our side - JOY and ENTHUSIASM! In case anyone would like to read, two articles about who Walz was as a teacher and the asset he provides as a former football coach - i find the first especially astonishing and enlightening - paywall free. Harris picked an incredible partner -

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

Thanks for posting the links. The first article recalled memories of my two favorite teachers in high scool - whixh was many decades ago!!

My AP US History teacher didn't have us memorize anything, but instead we talked about the "why". Oe of my favorite things was that once a week he would share political cartoons of the era and we would discuss them in detail. I still love a good political cartoon (and nowadays memes too)!

My AP English teacher started off every class discussing current events. And Cliff Notes would have been worthless for any assignments she gave. For Catch-22, our assignment was to use the same literary techniques as Heller in a short story about an experience in real life. A couple of the best ones were read out to the class. It wouldn't surprse me to discover that these students were published authors - they were that good!

Similar to Mr. Walz, they both engaged their students and got us to think instead of regurgitate information!

Aspenwood's avatar

Thanks for sharing your experience with your AP teachers. Your last sentence is exactly what teaching should and shouldn’t be. It would seem Walz’s class was not AP, and i would advocate for more teachers engaging in teaching ‘thinking’ rather than ‘regurgitating’! So much more interesting for the students, so much better for creating citizens.

Gail Dragoo's avatar

What is wonderful about teachers like you had was that they were unlocking creativity in kids who may not have the opportunity to explore what they're good at. Kudos to those teachers! What a valuable tool they were giving those kids.

A good lesson in not having to teach to the test.

Hey Simon, I know a few days ago you said you were considering expanding the House races. I think the MT-01 race might be worth considering. I know it is a bit of a stretch but any additional turn out there might go a long way in Tester's race. I think I will add that one to my personal house list either way.

Josh's avatar

For those considering the MT-01 race. It is a rematch and Zenke who holds the seat is a Freshman, and only won by 3% last time. There was no top of the ticket race in MT in 2022 so it was just GOP out of power turnout that drove the win.

If the congressional generic is to be believed and the combo of Harris/Walz and Tester at the top can add a point or two it is really a matter of GOTV that will decide the race, in a very cheap media market.

FT6 has been doing a lot of BYOP text banking for Tranel to help register likely Democrats in that district.

What a great night! Hopium and Joy are now the official campaign theme. Keep on working everyone. I'm sending so many postcards my wrist aches - and it's worth it! WHEN WE FIGHT...

WE WIN!!

If you haven't seen this clip of Gov. Walz with his daughter at the MN State Fair last year, enjoy. How can anyone not like this guy? (& no, he is not going to "Unleash Hell on Earth.")

Talk about joy! What a great father-daughter clip, thx!

I just love these two...they're so naturally adorable and funny! They should take their show on the road (hands-free, of course)!

Janet HB's avatar

Oh my goodness. They’re so cute together!

I was there last night at Temple and can confirm it was electric — with 15K in attendance!

Janet HB's avatar

After waiting in line over 2 1/2 hours, I finally made it into the overflow arena. The line behind me was still 8 blocks long hoping to get in. They could have easily doubled (or more) the size of the Liacouras center and it would have been packed. Yes - even in the overflow room watching on the Jumbotron it was electric. People were fired up! (My watch gave me a “loud environment” warning more than a few times lol!). So glad I put up with the 100° “feels like” temperature and threat of T storms to go. I’ll never forget it.
