Democrats should attack the Republican brand directly, pointing out that they kick aside fiscal conservatism when they back a billion-dollar-a-day war of choice and remain silent on huge ICE expenditures on raids and expanding their detention camp program in red states.
And with the #FatCatTaxCuts and defunding of Medicaid found in the #BBBbetrayal, the “family values” party has proven that they only value families with seven-digit bank accounts. But it’s worse than that; the Trump #ProSTRIFE agenda has continued subjecting working families to needless economic hardships by allowing ACA subsidies to end, gutting the SNAP program, and raising costs through random whim-based tariffs.
They aren’t conservative, they are #CORPservative; only serving their corporate and billionaire donors. To the rest of us it’s:
“Let them eat bootstraps!”
And when it comes to freedom, the most important one to Trump and GOP leaders is #FreedomFROMDemocracy. With the SAVE Act they want to disenfranchise tens of millions of married women because they feel that more might be Democratic voters.
It’s time that Dems wrap this up with one simple hashtag. Trump and Project 2025 billionaire cabal are trying to replace democracy with kleptocratic #RepubloFascism.
When they rip away a large part of America’s institutional greatness - the social safety nets started by FDR with the New Deal - they need to know that many among them will be an #FTR, #FinalTermRepublican.
But in this moment, they may have a choice to alter that fate. Now is the time for them to join the #ImmediateFlipMovement, declare as independents rising as #ConstitutionalConservatives to caucus with Democrats because that’s what true patriotism requires. To save our nation, they must take on its greatest threat: the man who wants to be #DonaldDuce.
These clever defectors will extend their careers when they #FlipTheHouseEARLYandBeHeroesForever. They will be remembered for triggering the #BlueHouseOversightRampage that can stop Trump’s war and establish the #SeditiousConspiracy that allowed Trump to go off the rails from Day 1. The smoking gun on this was the choice to fire all the inspectors general, those non-partisans actually tasked to rein in waste, fraud, and abuse. They have powers to enforce breaches within every aspect of our government.
Purging them opened the floodgates for all the corruption, abuse of power, and disregarding of the Constitution that has followed.
So we need to call these Republicans, many who have campaigns now underwater thanks to Trump’s unchecked overreach, and tell them that rebranding as Constitutional conservatives to work as #PolarOppositePatriots with Dems is justified by dozens of breaches of both principles. And the fiscal irresponsibility noted above can be the tip of that iceberg.
So please, make these calls using the phraseology above. And please use and spread these hashtags in your posts to help these concepts punch above their weight.
And please subscribe to my Substack (always free) because I will be adding new memes and phone scripts for direct contact with those who just might take the plunge and become legends for stopping the end of the America we all grew up in.
Yes! I also think there needs to be a cohesive message for the Match on the 28th and that is that the Republicans can stop this madness right now.
The regime knows we are not on board with him, but many voters need to be reminded that the Republicans have the power to stop this. If they don’t, they will face dire consequences for their reelection or their election.
I've really been trying to promote the notion that those on the right and left can be allies when we all understand that it's us versus the 1%. We may not agree on what America should look like, but either way THIS AIN'T IT.
So let's rise together as #PolarOppositePatriots and push for the #ImmediateFlipMovement. To mitigate the damage that Trump and his billionaire buddies have in store for us, a #BlueHouseOversightRampage must start this month.
Israeli money?? I’m really tempted to flag your post.
I am not aware of Israel injecting any money into American political campaigns. If you are referring to AIPAC, that is an American-funded organization – 100% of its donations comes from American citizens.
No, I’m pretty certain that AIPAC does not send any money to Israel, and certainly not to its military.
AIPAC is a pro-Israeli organization, and as such they try to support candidates that share their view. I have a lot of issues with AIPAC and some of their choices, but let’s keep our facts straight.
It will be a runoff, sadly. I am still hopeful Shawn Harris will beat Clay Fuller because of the gas prices going up sharply and the Trump regime is souring fast. Trump endorsed Clay Fuller. He's 100% for Trump. The war in the middle east will probably hit home for families in this district, like many rural districts, where youth searches for a better way of life. Shawn Harris is a retired Brigadier General and will be the voice of sanity in this ill-planned, brutal war.
There are some that are being organized. I will be in Italy, but not near a large city. Rome is hosting one and Venice and I think Florence also. They will be near American consulates. I will not be able to attend, as we booked this trip before the date was announced. I am bereft to miss No Kings. Have attended both the Hands Off and the first 2 No Kings in Chicago.
The portions of the conversation that addressed the joyousness of protesting together and the satisfactions of sharing the experience really resonated with me. It reminded me of a recent afternoon in which a friend and I —waving from an overpass beside the giant messages, “Files Then Trials” and “Stop The Wars” — noted that we felt remarkably buoyed by our communion with the drivers passing below.
I’ve done street-side protests and enjoyed the honks and waves, but somehow the overpass protests seem far more affirming. Perhaps the drivers, knowing that they only have a split second to make their positive responses seen from our bridge 20 feet up, make their gestures and facial expressions extra emphatic, and my brain responds to their exuberance with extra endorphins? (or maybe I just get off on standing so high above everyone else?).
Anyway, I’d be curious to know if anybody else in Hopium has also found the overpass experience to be even greater at eliciting a satisfying camaraderie than street level protests.
Simon, Thank you for sharing the video this evening of you and Ezra Levin. It was very interesting, and I can see how he is very involved with our Democratic Party and want the best for whatever is happening. He is Young and inspiring, and I hope he follows your lead.
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. I've been to all three protests, and the feeling I came away with each time was JOY! Happiness, empowerment, when's the next one? Most people want to feel joyful and empowered. It helps. I went to the last one solo, and I made friends. It was fine. I live in Oakland, CA, where crime is a problem. I have never felt less afraid or less threatened on the streets than I did during these marches.
You asked us to self-report, so here's a rundown of what I do on an average week. I attend Zoom meetings on Wednesday at 8 am PT with Seniors Taking Action. At 4 pm on Wednesdays, I join the Hopium community get-together. Friday at 9 am PT, I attend the Zoom NETWORK Nova Friday Power Lunch — Badass women getting things done. Why? Because I've lived in the Bay Area my entire life, and I want to know what's going on in the rest of the country. I've learned so much from participating in the Zoom meetings, and it's been both educational and empowering to be with people making change.
This winter, in preparation for NO KINGS, I joined an art build through an Indivisible group here in Oakland. I'm an artist, and this is a wonderful way to get involved. As much as I love Zooms, it is wonderful to be in community with live people. We are making 3,000 origami ICE OUT butterflies to attach to sticks and hand out to marchers. These will become part of an art installation at the march's end. I also aspire to write ten get-out-the-vote postcards a day, kind of like taking vitamins. I watch inspiring interviews like this with Ezra and become aware of all kinds of inspiring people and ideas.
Finally, I unplug my phone and computer on Sundays and do something else, like look at my garden. I do the laundry on Mondays and take a dance class, after which I check in with the news. We'll be away on vacation for NO KINGS III, but I've already arranged with a friend of mine there to attend the protest in Kamuela together. The regime hates joy, love, hope, and possibility. Let's give it to them in lethal doses so that they have no option but to run for cover. Onward.
It makes sense to tie specific objectives, demands to the No Kings Day don’t you think? We are capable of the noblest aspirations, after all. Unencumbered voting in future elections with no SAVE Act type shenanigans or troops at the polls and continued mail-in voting are paramount right now because of the threats of even cancelling our elections.
Former Black Panther Speaks from experience in the 1960’s that got us the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act:
Thanks for this GREAT conversation! People really DO have power. They just have to learn to believe it and exercise it, and Indivisible is doing a wonderful job teaching that.
Ezra!!! One of my heroes.

Let's grab that gavel NOW.
Young, strong NEW democratic leaders that are NOT beholden to $$ used to support the war in Israel or corporate $$.
Age and term limits.
Campaign fund caps.

I agree with Arctic Stones here. Please amend this comment, back it up, or I will take it down.

Am I still out of place? Correct me if i’m wrong here.
I’d add Publicly funded elections. No more billionaires buying seats. The amount of money wasted on elections is disgraceful.
Numerous special elections today. Tonight we find out who will be replacing Marjorie in Congress – she of "Jewish Space Lasers" fame.
It will be a runoff, sadly. I am still hopeful Shawn Harris will beat Clay Fuller because of the gas prices going up sharply and the Trump regime is souring fast. Trump endorsed Clay Fuller. SIMON, Th
And the structure is local where those involved know the community!
Great discussion! No, as a complete sentence…love that!
I am going to be in Florence Italy on March 28, 2026. Where there be a No Kings protest there?

Thanks! So one would expect it to be the US consulate? Do you know where I would see info online about this?
I simply searched No Kings Italy 2026. And I found a site for Democrats in Italy.
I think I found it!!
I enjoyed this discussion very much — thank you!

Let's GO! Everyone find your local event and recruit some more friends to join you!

Wait, those town halls were just a year ago? It seems like a decade ago. Ezra and Leah are modern heroes.
Yes!! It’s possible to have fun with your community while you support what is good for the people!!!
