She is a total rock star. I have seen her speak in the past and she has grown exponentially in her power, presence, confidence, and command of facts. (Not that she was terrible before.) So impressive to see, and so inspiring, esp. to girls and women.
I don’t think that could have gone better. Even a small boost in turnout for our side (or depressed turnout for theirs) can be the difference between close race vs a landslide victory.
Time to redouble our efforts and get out that vote. Signing up for text banking shifts and continuing to write post cards.
Feeling motivated and ready to vote early next Friday.
I didn’t get much sleep last night, because I was SO FIRED UP!!!!!! Well done Kamala, well done. BUT the work still needs to get done, no getting complacent. We’ve got less than two months to close this thing! I got your back my hopium peeps, and I have no doubt you’ll have mine! LFG!!!!!
I'm there with you! I couldn't sleep - too wound up. I poured my energy into writing postcards! As K says, Hard Work is Good Work! Glad to be all in with the Hopium community.
Another accurate assessment… the election should not be close.
But the electoral college system allows minority rule.
The Senate filibuster ensures minority rule.
The majority will have to become so overwhelming …. to save democracy, protect and expand voting rights, address gun violence and respond to climate change.
A master class in how to bait a narcissist, make your policy positions succinctly to the audience and then sit back and watch the demented man dance around aimlessly as he digs deeper and deeper into the rabbit (dog?) hole. I requested my mail in ballot her in PA yesterday. Planning to drop it off as soon as possible. Starting work on the PA Dems Voter Helpline next week. LFG team!!
Yay! Vote on Day 1! Tell your friends and neighbors. Let's bank as many votes as possible in October & free up resources for those lower propensity voters!
I visited several MAGA sites and they are in SHOCK. Trump looked like Bluto after he was whupped by Olive Oyl.
The bookies immediately discounted Trump 8 points.

Vote Vets had a post debate zoom event led by Fred Wellman. Trump got the majority in 2016 and 2020. IMHO we can flip a majority of them. He admitted releasing the Taliban while the Afghani government had no say in the deal. The 13 dead were killed by suicide bombers, most probably Taliban. Add this to "not suckers or losers." 4 million people on Facebook are veterans or active duty members. 12.5 million people on Facebook are family members of a veteran or an active duty member. 242 million people on Facebook are friends with one or more veterans or active duty members. A few of Thom's readers can post "not suckers or losers" on military and history sites. That alone might turn the election.
Meanwhile FT 6 has sent over 12 million tests to unregistered folk who trend Democratic. Need phone bankers and canvassers to close the deal and make a blue tsunami.
As a canvass captain for the last six years, and a hardcore canvasser the eight years before that, I can say that we are seeing an increase in canvassers, but we ALWAYS need more people for the big three: canvassing, phone banking, relational organizing. Time to put aside your insecurities and make the leap to DIRECT VOTER CONTACT activities!
I suspect that the fellow 200,000+ Vote Forward letter-writer volunteers will join these GOTV activities in October after our banked written letters get mailed on the 1st. Until then, back to the writing grind!
Actually, Vote Forward has 7 campaigns to register voters in the 7 big Swing States (https://votefwd.org/district/PA_2024_VR_HOUSE_2) and those letters are already going out in the mail. Many States have same day registration as well during the early voting period. The main GOTV effort to the 7 Swing States started letter-writing in March, and those 7+ million letters go out staring October 1st. So many methods for people to get and stay involved!
I appreciate that you sent them to my native state, PA, but 1. people using VBM may have voted and 2. Vote Forward does not use the same data base that FT 6 uses.
That someone uses the Vote Forward database does not preclude using the FT 6 phone bank. It normally takes 3 "touches" to ensure registration, and the odds are increased geometrically by following up. Actually canvassing is more efficient, but tough to get enough volunteers. When we call, we ask people to a. register and b. volunteer.
In many places, the reason that people have been cut from the voting rolls is because the mailing address was defective, or because people are on vacation, etc. That's how the FT6 database was created in large part. Many of our targets are not in VAT or VAN databases.
Envelopes of Vote Forward letters we’re writing, in addition to hundreds of postcards, are index cards decorated with flower stickers (10,000 flower stickers amazon $9.00) and the url for the Early Voting website: https://voteearlyday.org/state-rules
and plan to mail VF letters to encourage Voting Early on Day 1.
Nancy, what a great idea! That site is awesome. Our group printed up the FAQ section from the Colorado Sec. of State (Jena Griswold) website to describe how Colorado mail ballots work, check registration, enroll in BallotTrax to monitor your ballot, and where to drop off the ballots early. We made a small sheet to include with the regular Vote Forward letter to voters in CO CD08.
outstanding! love the way he tried to evade responsibility for having his republican cronies vote against the bi-partisan border bill. The moderators should have pressed him on that one.
Voters who didn’t know Kamala went out on their first date with her last night. Some fell in love with her like her husband did on their first date. All of them want another date or two or three to be sure this force of nature is really real. No one is afraid of her. Why do people fear Trump? Because he is a convicted criminal still free and walking the streets?
My expectations for Harris going into the debate were really high. She exceeded them wildly.
Yes, work. So much hard work ahead.
I recall having feelings similar to what we are all experiencing today after the final Kerry/Bush debate back in 2004. And I truly believe to this day that Dems fell into a sense of complacency after that 2004 debate, thinking Kerry could wrap it up on his own and he alone could fend off the swift boaters and Rove's other lying minions. We all know what happened then. Let's not let that happen again.
We need to sprint from here THROUGH to the finish line.
We also have a much more robust grassroots get out the vote network than we did then - I think all we had was ActBlue, and I’m not even sure if that was founded before or after the 2004 election. I feel as if we have learned from past mistakes.
I was on the Kerry staff in Michigan - none of us felt it was wrapped up after the debates. At least not that I recall. I don’t get any feelings or vibes similar to the 04 campaign and the Harris campaign but if you do I’m not going to diminish that. I agree on your point - it was a great night but we have to keep working. I just ordered 100 more postcards and might do some text banking next week. Keep working!
Has Actblue or the campaign said anything about fundraising since the debate. From what I can tell the Hopium community raised over $60,000 for Harris alone in the last 24 hours. Just breath taking.
According to this site, the amount raised for 9/10 was nearly 46 million, and so far for today, it's 19 million. That's not just to the Harris Campaign so keep that in mind, but the bumps during the debate seem to be 9 million during the first hour and 13 million during the second, with more than 4 million the hour after.
I also felt last night was important in terms of media coverage. The ABC people were flawed but better than usual. I think Trump usually has the press so intimidated, and it was important that Kamala Harris deflated him on a public stage like that. Our expectations about Trump will be quite different going forward.
I noticed that, it seemed as if David Muir and Lindsey Davis were not wrapped around Trump’s little finger like so many of their media compatriots are. I saw a lot of cope and whining today about how “biased towards Democrats” Muir and Davis were. LMAO.
And Kamala Harris gave the impression that baiting Trump was like taking candy from a baby. “Your rallies are boring, Donald, and people leave early.” I could see Donald’s eyes pop open at that! Then David Muir asks Donald a question about immigration (which is a hot button issue that a *savvy* Republican candidate could have capitalized on) and what does Donald do? “Well first of all let me tell you about my rallies!”
Good for you!!!
Well said. I feel that same awe and pride in her strength, intelligence, diligence, and commitment.
She is a total rock star. I have seen her speak in the past and she has grown exponentially in her power, presence, confidence, and command of facts. (Not that she was terrible before.) So impressive to see, and so inspiring, esp. to girls and women.
What a night! Thank you VP Harris!!! I’m postcarding once again this morning with restored energy & commitment! 💙🔆

I’m so happy to live in Virginia and get to vote on Day 1 next Friday! And to be part of NoVA Blue Squad and celebrate the 1st week of early voting
Awesome! Get all your family and friends to do so, too!!! Broadcast it widely over and over, LFG.
Agreed, LFG!!!! So cool you can vote next Friday, get all your neighbors, friends and family to vote early, too!!!

Let’s get her elected - and give her a congress she can work with, and then we can fix some of this stuff (Supreme Court too)
So proud of our Kamala!

Roped a dope. Kamala beat him with body blows and Taylor, hopefully, can finish him off.

David, by that time, registrations will be closed. Time is of the essence to outregister barbarians. October 7 in FL.

Keep up the good work everyone!
ActBlue said the campaign has reached a record-busting 1 BILLION + dollars since Harris’ campaign kicked off!!!
Good lord. In a good way.
I saw $9 million in one hour around the 9:00 mark.
we are now over $1m each for Harris, our House candidates and the checkmate states of AZ, NC and NE-2! Thank you all!
Here's the source I use to check in on how much $$$ dems are raising daily via Act Blue: https://observablehq.com/@rdmurphy/actblue-ticker-tracker
