It IS brutal. It is unspeakable. I believe there will be the possibility of a huge correction if democrats don’t blow it, not just in the United States but in Russia and Israel. But watch out for corporate democrats.
We have got to win this election. I remember when ACA was passed and 2 of my Democratic friends got health coverage and found out they had colon cancer. They were able to get medical care and lived for a few more years because of the ACA.
Our adult son has non-verbal autism, intellectual disabilities, epilepsy and had a craniotomy for a brain malformation and spinal cord cyst. He lives in a group home and is entirely dependent on Medicaid for his health care.
We cannot go back to this dystopian nightmare of insurance companies raking in millions while Americans are denied coverage and suffer. Medicare for All. Everybody turn out and vote. Save democracy and fix our healthcare.
I am sorry for all of your troubles with your son. Even finding a group home can be so very difficult, and to add to the challenges that families face with disabled children, the threat of losing healthcare. The soulless, shameless, sick and twisted GOP
It is difficult to find group homes these days. In TN, they privatized Medicaid to the MCO's and they love to deny coverage of payments leaving providers in debt or using lines of credit to pay their bills. Outrageous and cruel.
This was a great interview and very scary. In the 56 years I worked, if I changed jobs my first concern was healthcare. I’d tolerate awful employers because I couldn’t afford to lose my my benefits. The suffering going on in this country over access to healthcare is a stain on our country and it must stop. Bernie Sanders has been right all along. The big money factor in our healthcare is obscene.
Glad you talked about the high rates of new business formation coupled with low uninsured rates under Biden. The common framing of social programs as “safety nets” misses one major outcome of programs like the ACA- namely that they are wealth building and preservation programs. Take Medicare, for example. Even the richest recipient of Medicare services would have their assets depleted without Medicare. And for lower income people, these programs allow footing to increase their net worth.
I love the point about how calling it "Medicaid work requirements" is not accurate and that it should be called "changes to Medicaid reporting requirements" because the majority of people who receive Medicaid already work full or part time, are caretakers, or students (and that's not even counting kids who also receive Medicaid). Frankly I'm sick of Republicans constantly framing poor people as "lazy" while giving fuckers like Elon Musk and trump and his leech sons a total pass.
This is brutal

this is also a public health crisis
fewer folks covered puts greater risk to the entire community
This cannot be shouted loudly enough!!
Simon, thank you for having this very important, necessary, informative conversation with Charles Gaba.
It unbelievable that our beautiful, richest Country in the World has the worst Healthcare!!
I am fortunate, I am not in that position, as yet. But, I hope and I know, we will be in a better place in 2years!!
Hopium and Love will take Us there!
Great conversation and so important.
Terrible decision
So very disheartening and unfair
Great Hopium today Yhanks Simon and Charles
The nursing home in Albany NY where I stayed for rehab closed down after 60 years in business.
Thx for the informative albeit infuriating discussion. So important for us to be informed so we can fight back.
