We LOVE LOVE LOVE who Joe Biden is and what he has done and tried to do. By the way, I just went to Speaker Johnson's website on which he lists the 7 core conservative values (really!) ...if this is true for you, MAGA Mike then you are the Judas to our Democracy selling it out for thirty pieces of silver.

I called each of my FL senators as I do daily reminding them via voice mail that Abrego Garcia, despite Supreme Court orders, has not been returned and that the bill in house gutting ACA and Medicaid cannot pass.

It breaks my heart to learn of President Biden’s recent prognosis and we all wish him strength. I hope the Tapper/Whipple sensationalist book tours cease and desist. The timing was always questionable and now it seems cruel and exploitative. Pause, please the book tours out of respect to President Biden and his family.

Love Joe Biden! thank you, Simon, for getting us started with the word 'rancid'. Has the rancid Jake Tapper gang accused Joe Biden of timing his announcement to interfere with their book tour yet?

Our Joe has some years before reaching his 100 which he deserves imo!

JOE IS STILL IN BETTER SHAPE...

Whatever his physical ailments may be and despite what Jake Tapper’s book claims, from the neck up Joe Biden is still in way better shape than the felon who currently occupies the Oval Office!

Don't know how my reply to you ended up as a reply to NM Creatix, but, as I said (literally, "just before"), expect this to take up the oxygen at least until July 4th.

We need to push other narratives and other topics into the media; we need to eclipse this BS focus on Biden’s deterioration. The most counterproductive thing Democrats can do is to indulge in self-flagellation in public.

Of course, you have other things to worry about, but this is gonna hit home in NYC with our mayoral race. Not necessarily focused on Biden issues, but the Dems will cannibalize one another for sure.

But hasn’t New York City politics always been a mess? That’s my impression but I could be wrong.

Very true. There was, for me, a blur about political monkey business circa 9/11: The shock and grief and unity and rebuilding. NYers were very focused.

Now we have ranked-choice voting for special elections and primaries.

And, here's where it goes off the rails: with Republican candidates like Curtis Sliwa and Andrew Giuliani, it has been observed that if the Dems don't get it together and the internal fractures get larger, votes could be split; we might very well end up with a Mayor Sliwa or Giuliani.

And, with the current federal issues, I think that would be just too much for this New Yorker to bear.

I love Joe Biden and respect his Presidency. Last night I wrote an email to Penguin Random House and sent it to the two email addresses available for the publisher, under the subject PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING!

The email text:

Dear Penguin Random House:

I beg you, I IMPLORE you to do the decent thing and postpone publishing Jake Tapper’s book on Tuesday now that we’ve learned that Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostrate cancer.

To flog this book while Joe and his family are dealing with his cancer diagnosis and coming up with a treatment plan is in bad taste at best—and cruel and inhumane at worst.

PLEASE. BE HUMANE.

Sincerely,

Karen Pirello

A patriotic American and life-long reader

Respectfully, I disagree with this action. It smacks of censorship, which we should never champion. Speak out against the book, don’t buy it, fine, but calling for a halt to publication is no different than Zuckerberg trying to squash “Careless People”. And we’re better than that.

MJ, totally agree with your point about censorship. But I didn’t call for a halt—I called for postponement. “I beg you, I IMPLORE you to do the decent thing and postpone publishing Jake Tapper’s book on Tuesday now that we’ve learned that Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostrate cancer.”

As a prostate cancer survivor my family and I sympathize and empathize on every level with the Bidens.

Regarding the Rancid Reconciliation Bill, my Emails to NC Senators were probably delivered, while my letter to our Representative seems to have been declined because the form entry that must be completed in order to send a message erases each time. Perhaps my previous messages were too annoying despite every courtesy. Please judge for yourself. Here's the draft of the one that fails:

"Receipt of updates from one's Congressman on legislative progress should come with better news than that of your disingenuous observations concerning wasteful spending while the Executive Branch ravages the slender defenses against economic ruin of the poor and needy of this nation.

A legislator of your stature knows better than to advocate robbing the poor to pay the rich while expecting to continue to receive the support of his constituents.

It is respectfully requested by this constituent that you reclaim your authority to represent the people from evident slavish adherence to the demands of the Executive Branch and be One Big Beautiful Legislator for The People."

Good morning Hopers. Thank you Simon for your kind words about former President Biden and his family. I wholeheartedly agree with you and offer my own prayers for the Bidens.

In my calls today, I focused on the budget bill that is now out of committee. For Congresswoman Boebert, I continued to urge to her vote against it because of the damage it will do to her rural families and children. I mentioned that people are often concerned that benefits will be used by childless cat ladies and single men playing video games, but it's the families and children who most use and need the safety net.

For Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper, I thanked them for all they are doing and to fight this budget bill in any way necessary as it will take away health care from families and children.

I am calling and emailing almost every day, even my calif. state senator and rep. it is time consuming but I feel it is worth it (makes me less anxious)... continuous Tesla Takedown protection of democracy gatherings and meetings with local Indivisible group (it is a joyous, working, wonderful group); my idealogical friends have an ongoing text, and am sending post cards.... gotta do it! My children's futures are at stake! The idea of the richest man taking food from hungry, sick children is unacceptable, unsustainable, inhuman.

First time self reporting but I've been calling red Iowa legislators daily for months. This horrible reconciliation bill prompted me to ask why them they want to legalize cruelty (taking away safety nets to fund tax breaks), legalize pollution with selling public lands to drill and rolling back green legislation, legalize autocracy by reducing Congress oversight and giving more power to the autocratic Executive branch and further threaten free speech with H.R. 9495, the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act, legalize corruption by killing regulation on AI so that big donor techs can be unchecked with their development of this powerful technology that SHOULD have Congress oversight so that constituents are represented. Took advantage of Miller-Meeks' Facebook post that she was at Pope Leo XIV Inaugural Mass and reminded her that the cruelty to the marginalized is immoral. Hopium definitely keeps me inspired and so do the comments below! Thank you!

Hi Lisa - I grew up in Iowa, moved to Texas in 1989, then moved back to Iowa in 2020. I didn't recognize my old state's politics. Our public education system has been decimated, the new law allowing 16 year olds to work in meat packing plants until midnight or bartending, the counties doing a 180 to Trump (I was in the worst of them - Howard), and so on. Just ugly MAGA wannabes. After 4 years, I moved to Illinois - the first time I've lived in a Blue state and it is glorious! I like Rob Sands and if he can win the governorship, Iowa has a chance to move forward, but with MAGA in charge, it's become a hateful ugly place. I hope for better times for you and all Iowans, who will always have a place in my heart.

Definitely keep fighting and give 'em hell. I'm 70 and teaching entirely online now, so the move to Peoria for me was a "now or never" situation. I would probablyr have stayed in Iowa, but real estate in DM, Cedar Rapids, and Davenport (where I grew up) was outrageous, so I kept looking east and hit Peoria. With our governor and AG, I feel like I died and went to heaven after living in TX for 30 years and then Iowa for 4. Hang in there! Kent
