yes to national council. yes to coordinated approach to save our elections. yes to all dems national, state, local working together to stop election theft & interference. the more loud and proud we are about these preventative efforts the more americans will know what is about to happen. lots of promotion! this tidal wave is coming in 4 mos, they have national guard, corrupt doj, ice, federal marshalls on their side, maybe even the military if we protest their election interference. so yes simon we need this coordinated approach from top to bottom dems. this is life or death for satan so he will not stop at nothing. we cant even imagine what he and stephen miller et al can conjur up with the entire fed govt at their disosal. so urgent. if we can have free & fair elections we have lost our democracy. thank you for recommending this approach. hope your words are heeded.

Loved it, loved it! Great conversation. It was a wake-up call in more ways than one. Simon, you and Alex Wagner were " spot on" about preparations that have to be taken.

Later I will be making donations. It looks like a few of our wonderful Candidates need some help!

Networks didn't air Obama's or Biden's speeches. So there was a precedent for not airing. We do need election integrity, but the independent board was decimated. Absolutely build a coalition and accountability for the elections.

Trump is setting in motion the conditions that will make the super El Niño that will hit in late 2026 and most of 2027 cause hunger in America and around the world.3.6 degrees of warm water in the tropical Pacific is about to cause the biggest El Niño in human history and redraw the map of global hunger from the rice paddies of Java to the maize fields of Zambia to the checkout line in Wichita, and why, this time, no one in power can claim they were not warned that a tsunami of hunger and starvation was on the way is they don’t act.

I spent some time last night watching candidate and State party chair interviews. Simon‘s been pounding on this a bit lately, and he’s not wrong… It will boost your spirits to see who we have carrying the torch in the battleground races. I can hardly watch Josh Turek do anything for longer than five minutes without tearing up in inspiration… Certainly makes me feel like I’ve got no excuse to wall in fear or disappointment… That guy is a force of nature!

Thank you Alex Wagner and Simon for clear eyes and sharp analysis. Totally agree that we need coordinated DEM language and goals, values, loud and proud. How about this from a generally educated retired woman age 76 from Minnesota: (*) re-establish foreign aid and begin to re-build trust with foreign allies, (*) work on affordability and job creation at home in every way possible, (*) governors and states join together against illegal ICE activity, (*) accountability from the entire Trump regime and family for the corruption, (*) codify free and fair elections from this point forward at the level of the states.

Simon,

I know Hopium largely focuses on federal races and tries to avoid endorsing in Democratic primaries, but I wonder if an exception should be made in Wisconsin governor.

The leading candidate is a socialist (Francesca Hong) who, should she win the primary, would almost surely lose the general election and also undermine our overall house/senate campaigns in wisconsin and other states.

The incumbent governor Tony Evers just endorsed David Crowley (https://x.com/Tony4WI/status/2078514119196455114). Can Hopium also stand up and endorse David as well?

In my view, Hopium should stay oust of primaries.

I prefer a Democratic Party big tent place rather than just one for centrist Democrats.

That’s my view. It’s Simon’s place and up to him (with some input).

Simon, have a nice weekend of R n R. It's important to do that from time to time. A little relaxation can go a long way to recharge the battery.

Thanks for the link to Agenda project. I made a post there this morning. Hopefully others will take advantage and we can use our collective brainstorming power to come up with some useful ideas that can help shape the agenda.

Finding a way to get pro-democracy warriors out of their silos into a unified field of stopping election corruption is a good idea. I have faith in the legal folks to put the screws to election f*ckery through the courts, but as Jim Himes demonstrated on Thursday night on Lawrencee ODonnell, there doesn't seem to be any kind of coherent plan if Trump sends actual troops, ICE or otherwise, to intimidate voters or attempts to seize ballots.

Of course, early voting is the best mitigation for that problem, but there still needs to be a coordinated plan for election day. I think it would be important to promote and publicize that plan widely. Trump repeatedly TACOs in the face of overwhelming resistance, so standing our ground in advance could weaken his effort or scare him away. But the stakes are so high for him, so we cant count on that either

Looking forward to your interviews with Alex Wagner and Rita Hart, which I will get to shorlty.

Excellent point about toughness. That polling shows this is not surprising.

It seems that many Democrats (and others) want people who will fight for them and against what Trump and the billionaires have done. This may transcend the relatively small differences between centrist and left Democrats. Abstract differences mean less than actually fighting to stop the evil that is.
