I am unavailable today HOWEVER, while walking this morning I realized that you, Simon, are kind of Gandhi for me....he consistently and quietly at times took down the British Empire with legions of supporters with him. Now ours is the MAGA so called Empire.
Thank you Simon. You are so appreciated for your leadership, expertise, dedication, and commitment to democracy and keeping us inspired and focused. 👏🏼
My Governor Newsom is stepping up and showing us what real leadership, courage, truthfulness look like (along with other Democratic governors and AG’s. Let’s continue to cheer them on!
Ken Martin is stepping up and embracing the younger generation.
Only 14 percent of Republicans have a negative view of Trump/Miller deportation policies? So, even non-MAGAs are okay with abduction and torture? Will we have a fair election in 2026? Can Trump just EO something un-constitutional right before the election without time to wind its way through the courts, and even then, only to have his DoJ F-U the judge? I actually used to be an optimistic person, but I have had hopes dashed too many times to hope for anything. Trump never faces any consequences. We do.
This is not a correct read of the data. 60-65% of the country has rejected his immigration escalation depending on the poll. That is a big deal, particularly given how quickly this has all happened. If he can't keep him team together on this issue, his most important, it shows how much he has lost control over the discourse. I don't know where we go from here but we should be delighting in how completely he has been rejected by the American people and use it as fuel for the battles ahead.
I know that, Ted, but there are days when I'm just pissed off and scared about where our country is going. I'm grateful for all the activism and wins along the way, but I could barely contain my anger when I called my TX senators just a while ago. I know they both voted to cut funding for Corporation for Public Broadcasting, so I gave them a piece of my mind, as well as some 4-letter words. I'm usually pretty civil, but I couldn't be civil to them, not with what they've been doing.
Think of it this way- he has SCOTUS giving him a green light, a do-nothing GOP Congress, and legacy media in his hip pocket and THIS is the best he can do?
I think you all will really like the illustration. That is, the "Not-So-Fantastic Four," an idea I cooked up with the help of AI and the Quach-Mustafayev Group. Thought it was a good counter to that AI Trump Superman Truth Social.
Anyways, feel free to leave any feedback you have; I am always happy and willing to learn from all of you.
A question for you, Simon, and for Ken Martin today: What do you make of the alleged move by the Justice Department requesting voting roll data from each state? Is it true? If so, is it legal? What harm can be done? The 2026 elections are a big hope for all of us.
The mad king is starting to hit his approval floor. Our goal should be to “get to 35%” which would mean he’s lost most of the independents and has serious cracks in his base. We’re not there yet but if our messaging machine continues to improve it could happen.
Given the approval of the recission bill, no Democrat (whether House or Senate) should ever trust a Republican's "promise" again when they're "horse-trading." There's no reason to agree to anything from the Republicans to get a vote when they're just going to cut it in a follow-up bill.
I am so full of Hopium in response to Simon's import-letter today. We the People are the strong and determined ones who are building the new and brighter future for America. We are the Ferocious Opposition who will prevail.
It's true that the Project 2025 structure was put together by people with a clear and focused agenda for destruction of the state. However, I choose to remain hopeful that once he is out of the way, two things will happen. (1) His base will no longer have a leader and will begin to dissipate. (I think we may be seeing this happen already around the Epstein files. I agree with the opinion expressed here and other places that there are some MAGA who have become disenchanted and are using the Epstein files as their "bridge too far" to bail on him.) (2) Meanwhile, those who try to replace him will not be able to retain the backing and loyalty of that base. No one else in that depraved circle has an ounce of the charisma and salesmanship that he does. Then again, there are so many unknowables in this awful situation, it's simply impossible to predict what could happen. (See: Epstein Files fallout. Who saw that coming?) But I am noticing that his mental and physical deterioration is accelerating and I am hopeful that he may be out of the way sooner than later. It will be interesting to see what contingency plan the party has for his absence.
That's my fear too. Getting rid of Trump would be great, but what about the rest of the regime that is still there? This has been in the making for decades. It doesn't start and end with Trump. We just have to keep fighting. I keep remember the pledge to the American flag all school children recited at the start of each school day when I was growing up. It ends, "with liberty and justice FOR ALL". That's what American has always meant for me. I just have to keep focusing on that and keep doing what I can to make that America.
But Trump is VERY dangerous when cornered. I fear what he might do to shut down the negatives around him. This might be a pivotal moment, but it could turn out badly and not the way we might normally think things should go. Trump is prepared to destroy everything around him just to survive. So, yes, we may have him down, but we don’t have him out…….yet. Let’s hope he doesn’t go even more crazy, even more ballistic.
Charles, don't agree with this. Trump is dangerous now, yesterday, tomorrow. The only way we defeat him and MAGA is by degrading him. What we are doing now is necessary but not sufficient. And we just keep going.
Of course I agree. We have to keep at him without question. I am just warning, that a person with the personality (sociopathic, narcissist) of Trump is not out till he IS out. So, yes we need to double down now, but we better be ready for some rocky times because he won’t go easily. Remember Hitler did a lot of damage till he finally shot himself when he was cornered like a rat in his last hole. This is but the end of the beginning. Not yet the beginning of the end.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has advanced Emil Bove’s nomination on a party-line vote, with Chuck Grassley refusing to hear testimony from whistleblower Reuveni.
Bove’s nomination now goes to the full Senate for a vote.
I hope all our senators hear from us to vote NO on Bove. He’s personally responsible for the indefinite, incommunicado incarceration of Andry Romero and 200+ others in direct violation of Judge Boasberg’s orders. He should be facing disbarment, not Senate confirmation.
This was the focus of my calls this morning. I got flustered on Budd's answering machine, and instead of saying that I think Bove should be in jail, I said, "I think Bove should be disbarred, and shouldn't advance in his career, unless it's in a grocery store." What?! That is rude to grocery store workers everywhere!
Not only was it a party-line vote, all the Democrats walked out (except Booker, who continued to beautifully speak his objections to Grassley’s abdication of responsibility) and only the Republicans were left to vote! I’m proud of those Democrats.
Even Senator Booker walked out after he finished speaking. Democrats declare the vote invalid, and will bring objections to the Parliamentarian to nullify it.
If he doesn’t get confirmed to a lifetime appointment on the bench, then I expect disbarment to be in his future.
Trump lawyers have a tendency to get disbarred eventually. Giuliani, Eastman and Chesebro are all disbarred now. It takes way too long but it does happen.
I will call Sens. Booker & Kim re tariffs & ICE/VISIBLE bill, and will email Rep. Smith (Traitor-NJ04) re ICE/VISIBLE as well.
Attended the big Indivisible call last night (100K people!!), which was inspiring and empowering, and look forward to today's weekly call w Leah and Ezra. They've also got a webinar series on being an ally that has been great so far- the next call is next week.
Signed up to knock doors for Mikie next month, and will be making calls for the state assembly Dems. My local Dems group meets this evening, and I will write postcards to honor the great John Lewis (whom I once had the honor of meeting, perks of living in DC [tm]).
Simon, I should have asked this question long time ago. About the polls you show. What do the numbers mean: ie 41%-53%? Does this mean that 41% approve, 53% disapprove? Or, are you saying that he used to have an approval rate of 53% and it fell down to 41%?
Would you mind clarifying, please?
In either case, values hovering around 40s and 50s do not completely reassure me. I’m hoping for a much wider gap that expresses a strong rejection of Trump/GOP. Is our country truly starting to wake up?
The stock market is simply the market's expectations of future corporate earnings. While awful, the big, ugly bill was positive for future corporate earnings from a taxation perspective.
Thanks for sharing the polling data on whether Trump has helped or hurt people. I shared it on FB, as I think it could be a way to “break through” to people who are less connected with news. It’s simple and plays on humans’ desire to go along with the crowd.

Hello everyone,

Yes, I am also interested in learning more about the regime’s collection of DNA as reported by Wired.

Will you send out a copy of the meeting with Ken Martin? I can’t join today.

He’s fumbling….but once he’s out of the way the structure he built is smarter and more evil than him

I called Senator McCormick and asked him to vote no. Emil Bove is a disgrace to the legal profession and a danger to the country as a federal judge.

Hi all -
Jeff Tiedrich's Substack today was an all-time classic, made me LOL several times: https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/hey-maga-dear-leader-thinks-youre

Simon, what do you make of the continually rising stock market given the administration chaos?
The stock market is simply the market's expectations of future corporate earnings. While awful, the big, ugly bill was positive for future corporate earnings from a taxation perspective.
Back from vacation, got my calls in.
Pluck on.

Hate Trump, everybody is doing it, lol…
