And CNN reporting that it shows Biden is in a hole, because a few people were protesting Gaza. They did not report people chanting 4 more years....we are not going to get help from the media, folks, we are going to have to do the heavy lifting on our own.

Thanks for keeping us posted with facts. Our local paper, the Charlotte SUN, ran a piece today by Grover Norquist titled "Why 2023 was a good year for Republicans." The article was long on assertions ("At the national level, we have suffered through three years of Bidenomics," for example,) , but short on facts. Your articles help us keep sending in letters to the editor to present the truth. Bill Welsch, Punta Gorda, FL

2023 was a truly terrible year for Republicans. No way to put lipstick on that pig.

Norquist and co. just make stuff up. And the press reports it. The press has been laughing at the term Bidenomics for awhile, starting with the New Yorker. Because Biden's poll numbers and approval didn't turn around ( approval is still in the tank ) they piled on, saying that rolling the idea out was stupid. Norquist and his ilk don't care about facts. They care about the narrative; they cannot win on facts. But, they don't need to either. That's the scary part.

For those working on Tom Keen’s campaign,FYI about a fake “progressive “group sending texts. These are coming from a REPUBLICAN!

“ A mystery group claiming to be progressive but seemingly chaired by a registered Republican has inserted itself into the special election next week for state House District 35, a Central Florida seat that could be a bellwether for Democrats’ chances of gains in November.

Sent last week, a series of texts complete with unflattering images claimed that Democratic candidate Tom Keen is a “fake progressive.”

The 10 percent tariff proposal is a huge deal. It provides the basis for a communications campaign: "Trump will stoke inflation and impose a 10 percent tax on everyone by increasing tariffs. A President can raise tariffs without congressional approval. President Biden has promised not to raise taxes for those making less than $400,000 and to increase tax collections from the wealthy. Republicans are trying to stop this by cutting funding for the IRS so that it is unable to provide basic taxpayer services and audit wealthy tax cheats. Vote for Trump and Republicans if you want your taxes raised."

Thanks for this, very useful. I think I'll lead with the desired action: "Want your taxes raised? Vote for Trump and Republicans."

"Yes, the likely Republican nominee is a sex offender, fraudster, betrayer of the country, in the pocket of foreign governments, ally of the genocidal Putin, Nazi sympathizer and a madman." Pmurt is a *republican*, so he does not support a republic.

Looking forward to virtually meeting Tom Suozzi later this month. I connected with Activate America for NY addresses and just dropped postcards in the mail in support of getting Tom elected to Congress on Special Election Day Feb 13. Let's do this! https://www.activateamerica.vote/ourraces2024

I’m working postcards for them too. Note the latest instructions say to hold the cards until a specific date, though before they said mail immediately. I mailed my first batch per the original instructions but am now holding them.

The Economy? Like all things Trump touches DIES. Under trump it will always be about him not about us. Tax cuts to the wealthiest. Much more shoddy healthcare. I can’t wait till they lock him up along with all the other criminals in the GOP party “serving in office”!

Simon the Republicans are trying really hard to change the narrative around Jan 6 and the traditional media isn’t helping. Do you think voters will still have disdain for election denial and it’s consequences by November or can we expect its salience to wane?

Hi Jason here is Bulwark’s Sarah Longwell discussing this topic with Adam Kinsinger. Watch from the beginning.

But this is cued up to where Kinsinger says he is happy to be a Biden surrogate and campaign for democracy in 2024!

Simon said that those like Adam and Liz may join team Biden. I wonder how the campaign feels about that offer? Uncharted waters....

Racists never call themselves racists. Insurrectionists never call themselves insurrectionists. Obviously, they would be ashamed of themselves if they could see what everyone else sees. Christians will, and do, sell their very faith down the river to avoid that shame. Agreeing with their family, community, history, would be like suicide, so their commitment is total, immovable, uncompromising and final. Various Christian martyrs felt the same, all the way into the grave.

Simon, I hope you can address the issue of the most effective strategy for donations to Democrats this year, for those of us without unlimited funds. Is it best to give to the Biden-Harris campaign, the DNC, DSCC, DCCC, DLCC, grassroots groups, individual congressional candidates, or some combination?

I enjoy the hope and optimism of your commentary. It keeps me going. But today I read the long article in the Economist, a magazine I usually think is fair, about the unelectability of Biden and the lack of a Plan B for Democrats. Do you have any thoughts on that article?

The Economist is not Biden’s friend and is a worse version of the NYT. I could only read the intro but it looks like more of the same - reflecting CW for people who don’t like Biden. The numbers are the numbers - we are ahead or close in all the battleground states we need to win. We have won all recent elections. We have a candidate with a strong record versus a damaged candidate who is declining in popularity. It will be close again so we have to work but we can and will win. I’d rather be use than them. Time to leave the worry behind - even if these a-holes in the media were right (and they are not) what choice do we have? Let’s work not worry.

I appreciate seeing progress that helps average Americans and brings us together. The continued strength of the U.S. economy is astonishing and encouraging. I am grateful we have had a competent leader who listens and then gets tangible results for Americans like record time of unemployment under 4%, record jobs created, wage gains outpacing inflation, getting inflation under control...and doing all of this while being a kind and loving human, even to his enemies. If anyone needs more evidence for how Joe Biden has been a good president and why America is better off, here is the President's speech in South Carolina. President Biden starts at 20 minute mark. https://www.youtube.com/live/ebT-nbVzJns?si=6VyjVmUmYFGv5K7l&t=80

He highlights many of his accomplishments. Even when he is interrupted, he remains compassionate and kind.
