“That’s what is different… we’ve had leaders really emerge that have lived these failed policies and they want to fight… you can’t manufacture that kind of authenticity."
Another great candidate who seems genuinely interested in doing good things. I am biased, but I think women have so much to offer our politics in a time when their rights are challenged and policies are favoring the minority of the super rich. People live in different conditions and deserve representation, honest representation.
Simon, please look at Maura Keller, the Democratic candidate for Congress in Georgia's 3rd Congressional District. She ran against Trump's favorite boy Brian Jack in 2024, lost, and is running hard again in 2026. She is gaining some momentum. We are in the 60 mile radius of Atlanta and the big issue here is fighting data centers. Dislike of data centers seems to be bipartisan around here and Maura is aware of that.
She is a veteran and mother of 4. She's never been rich, and most of all, she cares about the people in the 3rd district.
Simon, She is a Sweet Girl and a great Candidate! This is the second time I watched the Video. It sounds like She is tough as well. And I hope She kicks Maga, Van Orden out on his Ass!
delightful article. I was charmed today by a photo captioned Sealant Team Six. All the same, what a disrespectful use of the time of folks who get called out on wildfires and other emergencies for us.
She's terrific. So herself ! Authentic. And I would bet money she's a fire brand - red headed and all. I bet she doesn't suffer fools; she is fired up and ready to go. And she is mad as hell at the current members of congress who have NO LIVED EXPERIENCE of hardship, and failure, and living pay check to pay check. She is bonding with candidates in the heartland. Did you hear her? And she is waitressing right now while she's running. Wow! Look out DC. I'm sure we're going to flip the house and when all those firefighters, and navy pilots, and ranchers and grammy winning musicians, descend upon the capitol we are going to be stunned! I hope we're up to supporting them when they are new and stumbling and finding their way. Hakeem is going to have quite the freshman class!!! WOW! I'm so excited. I'm going to send some money right now. Thanks Simon. Another good one.
Loved her when you did your first interview with Rebecca a few months ago. Love her even more now. As you said, Simon, great candidates continue to get better as they hit their stride and become more confident in their presentations based on earlier feedback. On Wisconsin!!!
OK she's wonderful. I know the area, this is neighboring to where I grew up in Minnesota. So I spent a lot of time there fishing, golfing, buying fireworks, and crossing the border on Sunday when liquor stores in Minnesota are closed.
I am still giving to the "Winning the House" and "Second Wave" campaigns on a recurring basis, but I also just gave one-time $10. She'll be fantastic.
Last night, Lawrence O Donnell made an important point about this Trump luncheon. Not the shouting match but the fact that when Trump called Lisa Murkowski a "horrible person", not one Senator objected and came to her defense. No one was "man enough" to do that. It shows just how craven and cowed they all have become. Sad and depressing.
Wonderful interview with a wonderful candidate. She really does give me hope! I don’t often have a chance to catch these live interviews. Glad I had time for this one.
I knocked on doors in rural Wisconsin for Rebecca Cooke and the whole slate of Democrats in 2024. It was an eye-opening experience for a suburban New Englander. Beautiful country, warm people (mostly).
HOPE personified!! What a wonderful candidate! Thank you, Simon, for giving us this opportunity to hear directly from voices like hers. 😃

Jonathan Chait had a delightful column on the Reflecting Pool in the Atlantic today (gift link):
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/06/reflecting-pool-green-algae-trump/687672/?gift=FgeEACUw4iJoER4ZiZvsnNgJ0HFDXlUjKN0MAy30dLU&utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share
But I feel he was upstaged by this comment:
"We now have troops around the pool? Only a matter of time then until Trump signs surrender terms to the algae."
PS Thanks for another great convo with Rececca Cooke!!!

I love this Simon. Rebecca is a fresh and honest voice! I’m in Michigan but I will donate to Rebecca! I just donated directly!

I also loved that some of these candidates in rural districts appear to be supporting one another. That bodes well for when they get to Congress!

Van Orden I've seen. He's a real piece of shit.
I'll watch the video later and donate something if she's on the list. I'm sure she's a great candidate.
It's ringing a bell. Maybe she is on the "second wave" list so I'm already donating. I'll add more if it makes sense.
A stellar candidate- authentic. Gives me hope for the future.

Simon, this was a wonderful interview. I just moved to Wisconsin (from Ca. ) and will definitely vote for her and donate to her campaign.
I’m excited
