Hi Simon, Thanks for all you do. I appreciate all your work on urging our party to get a unified agenda. Once we get it, and we need to get it done yesterday.we need our spokespeople to articulate our unified message on all social media, and particularly we need some great tick tock spokespeople to reach young people. I know I'm just repeating what you have already articulated to our party, diplomatically, over the past years, but hopefully they now will finally do it.

It’s wonderful and heartening to see those Dems find that higher gear. Thank you, Simon. Am about to make my calls.

Good news in Minnesota that Walz is running again. I sent him some money. This bodes well for keeping FoH Keith Ellison as AG, too.

I rarely comment here, but just wish you a wonderful evening in St. Paul. I am so sad that I can't attend big public events because of lung issues, but I know it will be a great evening. So happy to see that our Governor Walz is running for re-election also.

Yes! Love St. Paul, one of my fave cities and birthplace of F. Scott Fitzgerald!

"It eluded us then, but that’s no matter—tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . . And one fine morning——

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

After watching the PBS NewsHour report last night about what JD Vance said while hosting the Kirk podcast, my head nearly exploded. Rather than indulge my rage, I called Booker and Kim immediately to insist they speak out against this threat to 1st Amendment rights and to call on their reluctant GOP colleagues to openly reject this assault!!!! Enough is enough.

Awaiting my new packet of postcards and gearing up to write in support of Mikie Sherrill. Can anyone in this plucking community direct me to a source for NJ writing campaigns? Postcards to Voters doesn’t seem to have a writing campaign for NJ. Thanks.

Maybe Field Team 6? They do postcards to register likely Democrats.

Postcards to Swing States does - Progressive Turnout Project. And Mr. CF McGee can take a long walk off a short pier. (If you don't get the reference, follow Jeff Tiedrich's Substack. )

That statement about national security is so powerful. The administration has been trying to force us all to obsess about their biased narrative on political violence. I’m really glad to see Democrats move to higher ground. Couldn’t come at a better time. Good luck tomorrow. For Thursday, could we talk about ideas about how to call Democrats in Congress re: our asks for the budget?

This latest report about our national security shows that the Democrats’ plan on the coming budget bill is totally inadequate. Of course it's important to push for cancellation of Medicare and Medicaid cuts, but the moment we are in is so much more dangerous than such a plan recognizes. And why would we believe anything that the Republicans agree to? So, cutting any kind of deal with the Republicans on this narrow ground makes no sense. What we are experiencing is not normal.

I have postcards to send to Virginia voters but the instructions say not to send them until mid October. Does this make sense if early voting has started already?

Re Virginia: I think it depends on the audience. I'm writing for a campaign that also says to mail in October because it's aimed at voters who lean Dem but don't always vote in these off-year elections. I think the theory is that as we get closer to Nov. 4th and campaigns ramp up their ads, these voters may be more likely to vote and the postcard may be the nudge they need.

Postcards for Swing States is very precise in their instructions. Since they're testing all their campaigns, I'd do what they direct since to do otherwise might skew their data.

Thanks Simon, motivating report today. I can’t even read too many emails re politics these days, much less watch tv news.

I have donated to those running that you suggest. And feel like our battle cry could now be BRING AMERICA BACK. He clearly is attempting to destroy the country which makes no logical sense other than he thinks he will benefit. Pretty sure that is untrue. Keep pushing us, appreciate the updates.

Just as the three Dem ranking members of national security committees are building a vision and a framework for us on those issues, so must our ranking Ds on economic and budget/appropriation committees do the same. Unite and go big on a comprehensive economic plan that is positive for what we will do to govern and not just anti-Trump.

I like “Freedom from Fear” as a potential narrative. It’s all that Hosenscheisser has even peddled.

Called both TX senators to say the single most important issue is restraint of this administration, while itemizing the four part agenda.

Simon, thank you for that encouraging information; it's great to see Dems standing up to Trump's disastrous foreign policies. When you talk about Trump breaking things that may be impossible to fix, I think of what he's done to America's standing in the world.

I called Congressman Raskin and Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen to ask them to make sure Marylanders can get the COVID vaccine and to block ICE, doing whatever is necessary. I'm writing postcards to Virginia voters today.

I also am sharing the following information on my social media platforms: "The Kirk shooting was one right-wing white man killing another right-wing white man at a right-wing event at a right-wing college in a right-wing city with a right-wing mayor in a right-wing state with a right-wing governor and right wing gun laws." Students of history know that extremist movements almost ALWAYS splinter and turn on each other. Think the French Revolution, the Chinese Cultural Revolution, Sunnis vs Shiites, etc., etc. They tend to splinter when their leader dies or is becoming too weak to control the movement. What we're seeing now is a predictable, but encouraging, signal that Trump's weakness is beginning to hurt his movement. We just need to make sure we don't accept MAGA's framing.

This is a great, clear statement and a very interesting observation about the movement splintering as the leader becomes weak. I appreciate the historical context!

Trump's abrupt subject change to his planned ballroom addition when asked a softball question by a reporter about "how he's holding up" re Kirk, seems right in line with that. MAGA screaming about Kirk while Big Orange opines about construction schedules and more gold decor.

Asking Trump to be introspective is laughable! He's not capable of that. I do believe that kind of statement is starting to make soft MAGA folks very uncomfortable. I know a few of them and cracks are starting to emerge. I keep reaching out to them in friendship hoping that I will be able to keep adding water behind their psychic dams.
