This was at the end of her November 13th post.

Political strategist Simon Rosenberg commented: “If Trump wags the dog in Venezuela it is going to do enormous damage to his already degraded brand here in the US. Zero support for this in the public. Will be seen for what it is—[a] transparent attempt to rescue his flailing Presidency.”

Hey Simon, do you think there is any benefit for Democrats making noise about Republicans closing the the THC loophole?

It seems like just an unpopular thing to do that will cost jobs and disappoint/upset politically uninterested people.

IMO, it would be more effective to highlight the CBD rather than the THC aspect. I am certain that others like myself enjoy a good night's sleep during these times thanks to CBD. (w/melatonin). It completely cancels out any need for Big Pharma in this area -- which is what is behind all this.

I don't know I work at a pretty Republican place and the number of regular dad types who say one of their favorite things is to drink one of those THC drinks and mow the lawn or something was surprisingly high when it came up.

It is so much more of a thing that "square" do now a days and it is the kind of thing that deep down most people still think Dems are better on than Republicans and we are missing an opportunity if we do not talk about it.

Also, for states like Michigan, cannabis in all forms is big business. State just passed a tax on THC products that will fund road improvements ("pot for potholes"). If this restriction kills that golden goose, it won't be popular here, among anyone who uses the roads, not just THC.

When I listened last night to your Wed night talk, I was of course, awestruck by how you put together the Epstein/Putin/Trump outrage. Here is Thom Hartmann today. It's a SCATHING declaration of the treason that you are talking about; not an easy read. I am going to try and craft a letter to my senators about this without too much drama. I imagine Jamie Raskin is already thinking about it, but not saying anything because they can't prove it yet. It fully supports your statement that you think DT's presidency is at the beginning of the end. AND... it's true we have to keep focusing on tariffs and the NOW.... Thanks Simon. OMG . There are so many things to hammer about. https://hartmannreport.com/p/did-epsteins-knowledge-of-trump-become?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=302288&post_id=178824199&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=r44ki&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email

Although Hartmann's post is speculative, it ties facts together into a more than plausible explanation.

Many of us have assumed since Reykjavik that Putin had compromat on Trump. What's new is that this Epstein email provides evidence that Epstein was a likely source.

May the drumbeat continue to amplify...

“How does this community get involved in this process, amplify voices, tell the stories of harm - and our response to it all - that need to be told?”

Hopium folks in every community could get together.. reach out to local TV and newspaper staffs .. and share your collective stories. How all of this is impacting you.

The Immigrant Legal Resource Center is a good general place to get information. Is there a local group in your area that assists immigrants? That might be a good place to start as well. There are for example groups in this area that deliver groceries, so people don't have to go to the store. Or put on clinics that help people with their paperwork.

Tips from the workshop we hosted a few days ago besides what's already been posted: Have a list of your undocumented friends' meds, health issues, doctors, family and others who have to be contacted, lawyer if they have one, who will be guardian to kids if they have kids.

If ICE is at the door, do not open it. They are not required to open it, let anybody in, or answer questions. If possible, film themselves saying "I do not allow you to enter."

See if their workplaces (assuming it's a private business, store, restaurant, office...) have a staff room or other separate place. Put a sign on the door to the separate room: "Employees only."

Get a whistle. If you see them getting abducted, try to be loud and have a crowd. Film it all (from 10 or more feet away), including vehicles and license plate numbers, ask questions while you film. What agency are they with? Do they have a warrant? Did they check to see if the person is a citizen or is legally here? Be your own narrator while you film. If they tell you to move away, say: "I'm pretty sure I am already 10 feet away, but I'll move another couple feet." Have your voice protecting you on the recording.

Do you have a LUCE network in your area? If so, put their phone number in your cell. Call them anytime you suspect you see ICE, with certain pieces of data: location, time, day, how many officers are there, how many are armed and with what arms (including zip ties), in what vehicles, licenses plate numbers, what they did. Do not put it on social media until it's been verified. Blur out immigrants' faces.

If I remember more, I'll add it later.

Addition: get your Governor to follow JB Pritzger's example, make a portal to upload video and reports for accountability as soon as we are free of Trump/MAGA.

And a note about the workplace room - a private business is private, even if the front room (lobby, café, shop, etc.) is open to the public. Open to the public is a choice, and not the same as actually being public. The owner could post a "we're closed" sign and it's not open to the public any longer. Designating a room that is for employees only is protected space.

Here are some tips not yet mentioned by other commenters that we discussed at our pro-Immigrant rights workshop last month:

If ICE stops you in the streets, know your rights

1. Remain calm, and if you are detained, ask for an immigration attorney immediately (although immigration does not provide attorneys, once you ask for an attorney they *should* no longer question you);

2. Do not sign anything. Ask to have documents translated and ask for an interpreter if you do not speak English. Have an attorney look over any documents that ICE gives you.

3. Do not lie about name, age, immigration status, etc. Anything you say or do can be used against you.

4. Note that ICE will not always identify themselves as ICE. If there is a knock at the door and they say “police” it could very well be ICE attempting to gain access to homes. If at any point they try to enter , continue to say “I do not consent”. If they insist they have a warrant, tell them to slide it under the door. This warrant must be signed by a judge to be valid.

These tips come from a document that cites maketheroadny.org distributed by the amazingly dedicated and courageous staff at Escucha Mi Voz Iowa in October.

I have to be out much of the day today but a quick thought on Hegseth's newly named, "Operation Southern Spear". This may be too suggestive or some might see it as reaching too far. But for what it is worth:

I have an advanced degree in art history and was trained to be highly sensitive to images and how they are perceived. Words are not images, but at times they are suggestive of images. Trump and Hegseth using “Operation Southern Spear” as the name for their planned siege of Venezuela is an interesting choice that is quite phallic, and ironic given the action as a possible distraction from Epstein issue.

Simon talks about showing strength. Hegseth’s and Trump both feel a need to dominate especially with regard to women. Phallic prowess is part of their egotism.

Maybe I'm too out there, but make of it what you will.

Will make my daily calls as has become part of normal routine.

It has another possible (and darker) association. Hitler was fascinated with the spear (also known as the Spear of Destiny ), believed to have pierced the side of Jesus during his crucifixion. Hitler thought that the spear could grant invincibility and a great destiny to its owner. His fascination may have come from Wagner's Parsifal.

When Germany annexed Austria in 1938, one of Hitler's first actions was to seize the spear from the Hofburg Palace and to move it to Nuremberg.

In April 1945, American forces captured Nuremberg and discovered the hidden artifact. The spear was recovered by the U.S. Army, reportedly just hours before Hitler committed suicide in his Berlin bunker on April 30, 1945. It was returned to Vienna.

As soon as I heard Hegseth using this name, I thought of the Spear of Destiny. So will the many MAGA Nazi types.

We need to be concerned with the Supreme Court’s ruling on legality of the tariffs as Trump is now claiming “trillions” will be owed as a scare tactic but to whom and for what? Could this mean the end of funding for ICE? Or the sinking of economy in general? Congress needs to demand accountability “as powers of the purse” and also the illegal emergency war powers act driving policy

Thanks Simon and good morning all. I have to admit I have been pretty focused on Epstein and it's potential impact on trump. He's clearly terrified -- the idea that he would have his Attorney General speaking to a single congresswoman in the Situation Room only drives that point home. The Goldman video in the post makes a really good point that the 2011 email Epstein sent Maxwell about trump spending hours at Epstein's home with a victim has a presumption of credibility -- it was well before trump even ran and it's a communication between co-conspirators against Epstein's own interest.

This short Atlantic article does a good job of debunking the various "defenses" trump's lackies have come up with. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/11/trump-epstein-email/684909/?gift=doPzWob87-IDzV8SonSFSLA8pgK724jgo6pR1bPqIDs&utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share. For example, early on trump called the Epstein files a hoax. More recently, the White House named the victim in the 2011 email, and it was someone who in her book denied that trump did anything inappropriate, saying he offered to help her find babysitting work. "The White House’s response raises several questions. First, the conversation [the victim] recalled having with Trump took place at Mar-a-Lago. The email in question described an encounter at Epstein’s home, where the interaction may have included more than babysitting tips. Further, contextualizing this email by noting which girl it involved is a strange way to respond to a “fake” document."

The most recent episode of the podcast This is Actually Happening is narrated by a victim of Epstein. Not an easy listen but reinforces what a monster he was. As the Atlantic article notes: "Epstein’s emails also imply that Trump was aware of his sex-trafficking scheme. “Of course he knew about the girls,” Epstein wrote in an email. If I met a teenager who I knew to be a likely victim of a sex-trafficking ring, I’d like to think that I’d try to help them contact law enforcement or get away. Also, if I discovered that a close friend was running a sex-trafficking ring, maybe I’d reconsider our friendship, rather than engaging in long, pleasant chats with his victims."

Epstein was scum. Maxwell is scum. trump is scum. Let this all come out and be his downfall.

Will make my calls, and have the entire Ken Burns American Revolution documentary set to record. Wife and I plan to watch it Sunday night.

This plays nicely with an article in The New Republic this morning, recounting the humanitarian, Matt Gaetz, and his taking an interest in a 17-year-old who was homeless and needed money for braces. An ideal target for a predator.

Found this in Ron Filipowski’s bulletin last night, about the multi-million dollar taxpayer money handout to GOPers who were investigated over J6 that we’re now required to pay for (copy/paste):

“from Manu Raju: ‘Johnson tells me he will put bill on floor NEXT WEEK to repeal the DOJ provision from stopgap (on suspension). He also plans to personally lobby Senate Rs to take up that bill once it passes House. Asked if he’ll be urging senators to back it: ‘Yes, of course, I will.’’

… He will bring it to the floor of the House. It will pass the House. Then it will go to the senate and likely die. Unless the bipartisan outrage can be sustained as long as John Thune is going to drag it out before even thinking about setting it for a vote. They usually count on people forgetting these things since there are a dozen new outrages a day.”

I am not fucking forgetting. I looked up Josh Hawley’s worth yesterday and it looks like he’s already a millionaire. I am so furious about this.

Mike Nellis posted this (copy/paste):

“Major companies are predicting the worst job market for college graduates in a long time next year, per WSJ. Democrats should be stepping up our game to engage graduates heading into the midterms, because I suspect it could be a sleeping giant for us next year.”

Maybe interest-free payments on federal student loans can be pitched without the “no handouts” people going bananas? Now that it’s firmly established that handouts must go to farmers, Javier Milei, and millionaires in Congress who participated in trying to overturn an election, but never ever ever as an investment in the next generation.

In the weeks prior, after the special Watergate hearings, the Congressional telegram office was FLOODED with thousands upon thousands of telegrams* from angry citizens demanding impeachment. Day and night. And Nixon had won 49 out of 50 states in 1972. His "silent majority" stayed silent.

The Republicans saw the writing on the wall. Resignation allowed Nixon to keep his presidential perks, including pension.

* Telegrams leave a visible, tangible trail.
