Regrettably, Trump has taken the U.S. to war, without required Congressional authority. Clearly, unlawful.

Question: Has Congress issued or approved any declaration of war since World War II?

More specifically, did Congress issue a declaration of war for Korea? Vietnam? Cambodia? Cuba (Bay of Pigs)? Dominican Republic? Grenada? Panama? Somalia? Haiti? Bosnia? Kosovo? Afghanistan? Iraq? Libya? Syria?

Answer: NO, Congress has not – not since WW2.

Only on five occasions has the US Congress officially declared war:

War of 1812. Mexican–American War. Spanish–American War. WW1 and WW2.

If you want to be precise, WW1 entailed two declarations of war:

1) Germany

2) Austria-Hungary

Likewise, WW2 entailed three declarations of war:

1) Japan

2) Germany and Italy

3) Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania

Hardly! But I am pointing out history that matters.

Alarming: Trump failed to inform top Congressional leaders of the attack. This is a worrisome break with historical precedent.

Should we expect the "weapons of mass destruction" recitation again soon?

Trump, Putin and Bibi all ought to get married to each other.

Oh, and will Reconciliation get passed now that high explosives have created the necessary drama?

When down in the polls,

Drop bombs down their holes.

From the Financial Times on June 18th:

Steve Bannon has warned Donald Trump not to authorise military action against Iran, saying US involvement in another war in the Middle East would “tear the country apart”.

With his approval polls down on everything and his gestapo tactics still not working as much as he/stephen miller want here in CA, he changes the subject tonight. Now we are an aggressor nation, it seems.

This is exactly right Jan.

We went from war with Elon, to war with immigrants in LA, to attack on Padilla, to the dog turd parade, to the murders in Minnnesota, to today. One distraction to the next. Each one further cratering his poll numbers.

I don't know that even he can outdo himself after this one. Maybe he'll release the Epstein Files implicating himself so we will stop talking about his thunderously stupid move in the Middle East.

What an immense tragedy... as always, shocked by not surprised.

Listening to the coverage for awhile now, in dismay. A pandora's box has been opened. I share your sentiments re: our troops, diplomats and citizens.

Hope you have a great presentation, and enjoy your time in Santa Fe!

Why are we doing this? Wars are easy to start, not so easy to settle, my prediction is $10 Trillion cost and 10years and all our bases at risk and will invite terrorist on US soil. We have the worst president to figure this out. If Russia ? China continues to become the world’s biggest economy and will be the leader of the World.

These is stupid!

Obama negotiated an agreement with Iran that stopped its development of nuclear weapons. Trump tore it up because he hates Obama. Gabbard testified to Congress that Iran was not about to develop nuclear weapons. Israel said its strikes put Iran's nuclear development back two or three years. There was no need for this. Except Trump needed it to feel strong again and to distract from his terrible poll numbers and failing agenda. All because America just can't bring itself to elect a woman.

It should be clear by now that Israel is not the beleaguered victim that they and their right-wing supporters constantly portray it to be.

It will be very interesting to see what Trump's weakness impacts more, his relationship with Putin or his relationship with BB. Both BB and Trump, at this time, need to prove their strength and stay in war. Now that we have attacked, I am betting on the staying power of this relationship. Also, Putin has already shown that Trump has no power over him. Yet strengthening the alliance between China and Russia may prove to be the most fatal decision. Maybe it will bring Trump back into the arms of NATO though.
