AI is here and we must make it work for us, not only against us. I understand the concern but Claude has become an important tool in my work and I will continue to use it, daily.
Let's start our push towards #NoKings3 next Saturday with a mandate for what comes after it: the opportunity to end our nightmare with a successful #ImmediateFlipMovement IN ONE MONTH.
Our numbers on the streets will make it obvious for dozens of House Republicans that they can't get reelected with an R after their name. But if they declare as independent, rebranding as #ConstitutionalConservatives, they can defy Trump and caucus with Democrats in the one act of true patriotism that can help them keep their seats.
Please read here on how this all can happen using unique strategies and phraseology:
Is something dramatic happening in Russia? Olga Lautman describes some very unusual occurrences. I’m skeptical until more evidence emerges, but this is worth keeping an eye on.
What's weird about this is that Putin seems to have had a very good last couple of weeks. Of course, if he's classic Eastern European pessimist, he could be thinking an equally big other shoe is about to drop on his head.
It doesn't seem credible to me that the Russians are causing these outages themselves. They seem too random and disruptive, and I can't figure out what Net access would have to do Ukrainian drone strategy (sleepers relaying info to the drones in real time?)
That Telegraph and/or the Ukrainians are responsible seems a lot more likely, esp given that these problems started out in the boonies some time ago (which makes a lot more sense if you're an adversary trialing a new technology, since they're probably the least well-defended, than it does for Russia to prioritize for implementation of a new proactive national security initiative)
Of course, it could be both, AS, meaning something Russia is doing in *response* to something Ukraine is doing, eg if Ukraine is using Russia's own domestic surveillance to find leaders and attack them with loitering drones, then Russia could be using Internet blackouts against its own surveillance to disrupt this (as I think the article is suggesting).
Against this theory would be the fact that apparently only Israel has this capability, and Bibi, like Trump, is more pro-Putin than pro-Ukraine (but unlike Trump, could be poed at Russia for helping Iran). Another article says the Kremlin originally said that "technical difficulties" were responsible (which would suggest something they weren't doing themselves on purpose) before they switched to calliing it something they were doing for national security, like the blacking out windows the Brits did to reduce the effectiveness of Nazi bombing raids. O, what a tangled web...
I really think the economy is in jeopardy. I think DJT really has to be removed, and yet it seems there is no way Repubs will do that. And 8 months from now feels like forever, economically. I have no big insight. But the world seems in greater jeopardy than even 3 days ago.
I am an Airline Pilot with decades of experience. Airline Pilot Unions, Flight Attendant Unions, Customer Service Unions, along with Airline CEO’s and Management must oppose ICE acting as TSA!! Not only is ICE a threat to public safety, ICE is a specific danger to Flight Crews! Delta, United, American etc.. hire thousands of Flight Attendants and front line workers particularly for their language skills and cultural knowledge of the clients and countries we serve. Our colleagues will be taken, abused, deported, murdered by lawless ICE agents acting as TSA.
Who will want to fly to visit the U.S. now? And what's going to happen when people can't travel out? Angry people and ICE acting as TSA... that's the clash this government wants.
Trump seems to be "threatening" to use ICE to do this because he thinks it's a genius move to make him look strong when, once again, it's really a move that acknowledges a pretty fundamental weakness.
Why does Trump care about long lines at airports "inconveniencing" the little people? It's because he knows, from the fall shutdown, that if he tries to blame the Dems for it, it won't work, because just like then, the Dems have picked something the vast majority of Americans agree with them about to strike over--and this time he can't even claim what we want will break the bank, because our demands actually SAVE money.
Plus the Dems have proposed bill after bill that would fund everything *except* ICE, all of which the Repos have voted down, making it crystal clear this isn't about TSA, FEMA, or the Coast Guard at all--it's about the GOP wanting the unfettered right to rip up the Constitution, go beyond all other law enforcement, do the opposite of what they said they'd do to win the election, and terrorize the country with a paramilitary army that answers to only one man (Stephen Miller ;) ).
So if his internal polling is showing the airport lines are becoming yet another serious drag on the GOP for the midterms, he has only two options: (1) Take money from the ICE slush fund to pay TSA, which is a clear win for the Dems and makes him look weak (2) Have ICE do TSA's job, which he thinks makes him look strong, not weak, except it doesn't and does, respectively. :)
Of course, we can't overlook the possibility that the whole thing is just a giant temper tantrum by the man-baby ;)
Wait! You mean the "war" is not over? But, the White House says that it is. I wonder at the little things that the instigators fail to mention. Iran's little boats and the thousands of drones, for instance. 47 is so sure that everything has been destroyed, yet there are plans for boots on the ground which will be a mass casualty event for the U.S.. Are American parents prepared? Someone in the regime needed to do some research before that first bomb dropped.
I think Simon was pointing out that both CBS and the Daily Mail are right wing pollsters that push the results rightward. Trump is mostly in the 30s these days with more balanced polls and it is unlikely that the trend downward will end with impending boots on the ground, spiking oil prices or the next stupid thing Donny tries.
This kind of sentiment is unwelcome here, for it turns a win into a loss. 35% of the country is unavailable to us, but that leaves 65% for us to work with, enough to flip both Congressional Chambers. Of that 65%, 60% has turned on him.
This is a remarkable success story everyone, congratulations. This often seen social meme of "how can it be this high" is doing MAGA's work for them, for it makes him strong rather than weak. We all need to do better here.
Simon, so glad you got away for a bit. An act of resistance in its own way. I recall an off-season day at a Maryland beach town as one of the most peaceful days I had when I lived in DC.
USL soccer is back in Sacramento, youngest and I enjoyed a game at Heart Health park last night. Like the energy in our new front line.
92% say end the war ASAP. That is an amazing number.
I found my paperback copy of The Mueller Report and plan to spend some time with it today. Still relevant- maybe more than ever
Having looked at the polls, what surprised me is that his support is still so high! Are 40% of the US voting public brain dead? How can ANYONE be supporting this dangerous buffoon?
My comment was not meant to be a downer on the work you are doing; more concern that our democracy has been so imperilled by ignorance and misinformation.
Will ICE. Be fully armed in the airports with masks hiding who they are. It’s like some of the 3rd world countries were they have the military posted. It will be intimidating to say the least. Each action Trump takes makes it harder for the R’s in the midterms. I feel they are looking at a bloodbath.
Honestly, Earl, to borrow a sentiment from a Republican leader: Why all the bitching?
I mean, with ICE's presence in a contained, confined, high-stress environment, with lots of all kinds of people and children and animals and luggage milling about, what could go wrong?
I remember either having a layover or traveling to Italy - this must have been 40-50 years ago. There was a mezzanine with military men patrolling it with machine guns. The military men were VERY young (probably late teens, early 20s). It was very frightening to have them up there as you walked through the airport. I think it may have been after the bombing at the Olympics.
Also after 9/11, the National Guard was at the Raleigh NC airport with guns that were 5-6 feet long. That also was frightening and uncomfortable.
AI is here and we must make it work for us, not only against us. I understand the concern but Claude has become an important tool in my work and I will continue to use it, daily.

It would only take less than a handful in each body to flip it. Before the boots hit the ground. Before gas goes to $8/gallon in California...
Jeez! Next thing we know, Mad King Donald will put ICE in charge of America’s air traffic control.
Don't give him any ideas. :)
They’ll probably borrow the military grade laser from CBP to do the job.
No, they'll borrow from Trump and run air traffic control via "bones" and "feelings."

wow, that does seem pretty major, and worth watching.
What's weird about this is that Putin seems to have had a very good last couple of weeks. Of course, if he's classic Eastern European pessimist, he could be thinking an equally big other shoe is about to drop on his head.

Very interesting theory. Clearly Ukraine keeps improving its multi-level warfare, both defense and offense.

AS, just read this about something involving drones that someone is doing against *us.* I think we probably all heard that ominous drones had been seen in the US, but this sounds a lot more aggressive and sophisticated than that: https://weapons.substack.com/p/barksdale-airbase-attacked-by-sophisticated?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=7y800

this is exactly what my reaction was. And it's not like the airlines aren't already getting hammered due to fuel prices.
Who will want to fly to visit the U.S. now? And what's going to happen when people can't travel out? Angry people and ICE acting as TSA... that's the clash this government wants.
or within u s
Right! I have no desire to fly anytime soon.

No kings marches should take place in front of the local offices of Republicans.

Remembering Robert Mueller and all he did for our country ... a decent man. https://www.dailyhaikuforyou2026.net
How is it possible that 40% continue to approve of Mad King DJT?

'65% of the country is unavailable to us.'
I think that is a typo. Maybe 35%?
fixed it.

Simon, good for you for "getting out of Dodge for a few days. Glad to hear it was restorative.

Meant to share this post showing the Atlanta airport this morning, speaking of Trump as a fuck-up. He’s golfing right now?

Yes, and just in time for Springsteen's Anti-ICE tour opener in Minneapolis, with hundreds of folks coming into town specifically for the show. UGH.
