I voted Friday and yesterday I canvassed for our Democratic Candidates. Today I'm attending a fundraiser for Jay Jones, our candidate for Attorney General.
Just increased my contribution to the Audacious Campaign after watching the 5 States Democratic Party Chairs videos with Simon! We can support the short and long term strategies! Building back relationships and recruiting former and new ones is just what is needed to get citizens to the polls to vote! Thanks Simon
Thank you, Simon, for all of the good suggestions.
I had to laugh at Trump's social media post. That is going to be Exhibit 1 in the Motion to Dismiss for Malicious Prosecution filed once he finds a flunky to bring those charges. He's such an idiot.
Simon, do pollsters ever ask how concerned voters are about corruption? Maybe that's included in what some folks mean when they say, "threats to democracy," but it seems to me it should be listed separately. Doing that would also bring it more into the public consciousness if people were seeing reports that Americans are "very concerned" about this administration's corruption.
Also, I'm referring to Trump's Government Shutdown just to preemptively make clear whose fault it is.
Agree. We ought to always refer to "the corrupt Trump administration," just as they used to say "Biden crime family" no matter what they were discussing.
Reps should realize this could be their last real chance to secure a dignified posterity. If they found no off-ramp before, this could be it. They'd be well-served to take it.
Again, I write that we are beyond Trump. He's sick. He's dying (slow or fast, I don't know, but he's going). He has an unfixable personality disorder that has been with him his whole life, and now his body is winding down, along with his cognitive abilities.
I wouldn't be surprised if he one day walked around the grounds of the WH, slinging his own waste.
It's his enablers in the Repub party that are responsible for what is happening when they have the power to do something about it.
Stood with 4 others on an overpass between Minnesota and Wisconsin. It was great to talk with them. While we were a small group we were motivated and concerned.
I don't know if you all have heard of the outrageous story about Tom Homan accepting $50,000 in cash and how the FBI killed the investigation, but it's an explosive story and one we need to exploit. Here's a video of Tim Miller and Sarah Longwell talking about it: https://www.thebulwark.com/p/bombshell-trump-border-czar-took
I made this the focus of my calls to Tillis and Budd today. I was so angry that my voice was quavering. This just highlights everything that is wrong with this corrupt administration, but it does give us an enormous opportunity! Erica Chenowith (the scholar who observed that when 3.5% of a population starts protesting peacefully, dictators can be toppled) has said that dictatorships often fail because of corruption. Well this is very easy to understand! This bribe happened in 2024! The justice department was waiting to see if Homan urged government officials to get jobs for these supposed businessmen (actually undercover FBI agents), but that was a mistake because Kash Patel's corrupt FBI and the corrupt DOJ shut down the investigation! Kudos to MSNBC for breaking this hugely important story.
Continuing to donate for pro-Prop 50 efforts. Also writing postcards in support of Prop 50. Sending 100 postcards to VA soon as part of their pilot program of Informed Voters of VA. Also writing cards for candidates in VA and GA. Will make more calls to my reps tomorrow.
Nearly every one of them has committed crimes and are going to need him to pardon them. They don't dare anger him. If they had any guts, they wouldn't be in this job.
For the week, I have been writing postcards for CA Prop 50. I also made a $ donation to support the same campaign. Locally, I have been leaning in to mutual aid efforts. We even have a food drive at work for coworkers. That demonstrates how tough things are getting for people.
I'm fortunate to live in district and state with 3 good Congress people. They have been strong voices. I call daily Mon-Fri to point to applaud and ask. There are so many options for the ask.
However, this morning, I emailed this message to each of them:
Worse than Nixon.
Dear …….,
Trump's firing of a US Attorney in Eastern VA for not being willing to press charges is awful. His seemingly private Truth Social comment to USAG Bondi that she must go harder to appease Trump's vengeance on his political enemies is even worse. His actions are worse than those of Richard Nixon.
These seem like impeachment level offenses that the Democrats need to feature loudly every day to highlight the utter corruption of Trump's actions. Every single day there is something new and often worse. The list gets longer and longer: free speech, military round ups on our streets, ignoring the law, unwarranted international killings, pay to play bribery, etc, etc, etc.
Thank you for all you do. It is noticed and appreciated. Keep going . Be louder and prouder of Dem values.
Comments in WaPo seemed similar to here: a shutdown is needed but Democrats should ask for more. I hope we’ll talk more about this at the Wed. Meeting. I am not clear on whether all the Democratic requests must be clearly about the budget. I really like what Newsom is doing about prohibiting masks on ICE agents. That would be a great ask, but I don’t know if you do that during budget talks.
I don't think that post was intended to be private. Even he wouldn't add things like "Shifty" into a private message. I think the post was deliberately public because he's letting Bondi know she's on thin ice. He needs a scapegoat (again). He's going to start asking people, "Do you think Pam is doing a good job?" He might also be signalling Lindsey Graham is who he is thinking about for the AG slot. Go for it, Lady G.
It's amazing to me that these people sign on to this and think somehow it will be different than what's happened to others.
I suspect someone told him posting is going to make it impossible to convict anybody. That's why it was taken down.
I have my 70 postcards to for CA Prop. 50 ready to mail, and an Indivisible virtual meeting to attend to see what else I can be doing.
Finally, "The Daily Beast" had the courage to examine the more than obvious cognitive decline of Dolos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_IWsfLb2xA . Imagine if other “news organizations” did the same. His reduced capacity, along with his likely malignant narcissism (i.e. a personality disorder), is a direct threat to the nation! Has anyone heard from Jake Tapper? [Edit: missing paragraph, 9-21-25]

The most important takeaway is that Dolos only cares about himself - PERIOD. Carmody explains how this self-absorption manifests itself in the incessant lying and the overall illiberal behavior. It is important to understand that Dolos will always put himself before the nation: https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/trump-biggest-corruption-scandal-isn-220315845.html. He cannot help himself.

As fall and winter arrive, I want to point out 1 very cheap and easy way to stand up for science. There’s a company called Love Your Melon. For each item bought, they donate another to someone with pediatric cancer. They have the softest and warmest winter hats. They are warm enough for Chicago winters. It’s personal. A neighbor I used to sit for is a survivor of childhood testicular cancer.
Of course, I can’t forget to mention Penzey Spices..why not eat healthy and smash the patriarchy at the same time? Please don’t buy anything from Spice Island. They support trumplicans. Thanks.

Folks:
A number of clinicians (even with the Goldwater rule) had warned on multiple occasions that Dolos was mentally unfit to lead the most powerful nation on the planet: https://bandyxlee.substack.com/p/violence-begets-violence-d73 . It is possible that we are dealing with something more psychological than political: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9vluA-XZak&list=TLPQMTYwOTIwMjVm2i-FTvCWLw . This concept might seem blasphemous on this platform, but there is likely some truth to this observation.
