There is time for this. What we need to do now is make our economic case, get Biden's poll numbers up. That's the priority now. We have time next year to go after him very hard, once he's the nominee. I think what team Biden is doing is what I would do given the data in front of us right now. My two cents.
We need a well organized response to the recent articles by respected Washington Post columnists urging that Biden is too old to run and that Harris should not be his running mate. There is much that is wrong or weak in those articles, but the writers appear to be speaking for a lot of concerned prospective voters. (I am 87 years old, quite aware of the risks and vulnerabilities of old age, but mercifully still blessed with physical stamina, curiosity, and cognitive capacity (perhaps enough to spare with those who think that Biden is too old to function effectively as president for another 5 years).

The media is reflexively—or intentionally—consumed by a binary, conflict-driven narrative that forces false equivalences. How else to explain the way they can blandly both-sides a twice-impeached, three-time indicted President, who criminally-conspired with his MAGA GOP to sabotage our free and fair elections and overturn the will of the voters by coordinating a violent and deadly attack on our country, with a sitting President who's delivered record unemployment, record low poverty and uninsured rates, lower prescription drugs, invested in roads, bridges and broadband, who beat back COVID-19, and who's brought democratic leadership to the forefront of the global stage again, all based on a three(!) year age difference?
On elections, the media seem only able (willing?) to focus on the chances of one candidate or another winning (hence their obsession with polling), rather than the actual 'stakes' to us, the American people, when one candidate or the other wins.
Talking about Biden's age, is repeating, amplifying and promoting THEIR talking points. As Simon tells us over and over and over. Our job is to remind our friends, family, neighbors and co-workers that the country is better off, and Biden has been a good President. And as George Lakoff has been telling us since Kerry was labeled by the GOP and media, and abetting Dems, with 'flip flop' -- we need to REFRAME and SHIFT the conversation to the values we hold and support.
Biden and Dems deliver jobs, progress and freedoms, while the MAGA Republicans offer nothing but recessions, deficits, failures...and now, fascism.

Natalie! I am a big fan of Lakoff, and I’m delighted you wrote about his work. His FrameLab substack is good, and the videos of his lectures on YouTube are eye-opening!
Yes, I'm subscribed to it as well and have been following Lakoff steadily since 2019, though I had heard him the first time back in 2007. Do you know Anat Shenker-Osorio?
Natalie, His teachings have opened my mind! Mainly how important it is for us to use our framing when arguing with a delusion person to not fall into any lunacy traps by overwhelming what we clearly want to say with their misunderstandings and erroneous beliefs.
Apropos of Simon's topic today and the importance of Virginia—the LAST state in the South without an abortion ban, making it the closest safe haven for 35 million southern women—Sister District Project is a grassroots group that's been exclusively focused on state legislatures since 2016, when it was formed by five young women.
You can help make calls for Democratic candidates in the most strategic races in the Senate (where we need to hold/expand our majority) and in the House of Delegates, where we are only three seats from the majority. Worth noting that in 2021, we lost our Dem majority by only 773 votes across three races!

Wonderful interview; gave me a lot of strong talking points. One question: when I encourage people to get on the early voting list and vote early, some respond that they wait in case someone who they are planning to vote for does or says something that puts them off and changes their mind about voting for that person. Or the opposite, ie they would have voted for them. Is there any good counter to that rationale?
Voting early is not for everyone. It is a choice. But it's important we explain to people the upside of doing so, which is significant. Thank you for what you do. S
Simon, this is a video--inspired by you--that a team of Swing Left & Sister District Project volunteers put together to help promote the power of being a Day 1 voter...
A very needed dose of Hopium from your interview with Fred Wellman. A must listen for anyone who is tired of the “liberal” media who are happiest disseminating Republican talking points. We are a center left country, not a center right country, and we have the numbers on our side. We just need the energy and hope and fight to get everyone out. This podcast gives me that energy!
YAHOOOO! Simon! I have been praying for interview like this! I urge you to make it regular and bring your data and wisdom. MTN would be great place to recruit more INFORMATION WARRIORS! Congratulations on ANOTHER awesome interview!
Simon your interview from Sept. 13 on Jen Rubin’s Green Room is great. Her questions brought out information I wanted to hear again. Anyone needing inspiration, do check it out. Be well all.
Hello comrades . I just got back from a pan exciting Citizens Action Group picnic . It’s local level and very effective monitoring, petitioning, activist , and cause oriented group passion . It’s a push by so many on the big picture level (including our Simon Rosenberg) to be as active on our local levels -a lot of people miss the opportunity to get in this VERY important ground level policy action.
That’s where it’s closest to you and YOU can make a BIG difference . We have our big picture but here on the local level is very impressive. Seek out your local action groups, join, volunteer, and support.

Media fully aware of and making decisions intentionally, willingly with steroids.
D. Ignatius at 73 may know he himself could never do what President Biden and VP Harris are doing. Might have been wiser to stick to policy.

Thank you. This is a great article and about a speech about which we need to hear.
