I'm hearing that the Tarp of Shame is to remain up indefinitely because the BBB (Big Blubbery Babyman) is too ashamed to allow anyone to see where his name isn't. Someone who's good with projectors needs to start showing that birthday card on the tarp.
I'm writing postcards to Ohio today and hoping for a great, big, windy storm this evening to break the oppressive heat and humidity here in the DMV.
Please tell me there's a 100% chance of rain and lightning all day. I don't want more property damaged from the claw. I want orange's birthday to be rained out. I want anyone going to get 10000s and thousands of mosquito bites each.
I just went outside, after watching you and Stuart this morning, and it is very, very, very hot. But silly me. We're running to the garden center to buy two more hydrangea. I bought two more rosebushes last week Simon. You inspired me!
I hope the weather will ruin his hair and make up, ha ha ha!
Congrats to the Knicks, truly an inspiring run, one for the ages. To be down by double digits in every first quarter and to win four of those games, simply amazing. As a spurs fan, this hurts on par with the loss to the Heat…. Maybe we’ll get to run it back next year!
i don't get abc on my antenna feed for some reason, so i had to follow online while settling for the haiti/ scotland match, a heartbreaker for haiti who never gave up.when other countries put down the level of soccer in our region, i tell them you will never see these small countries like haiti play with anything other than the heart we saw last night. flipped the coverage on the local news as the crowds filled the street in the last seconds; my wife's colombian family was watching too; we are all new yorkers today, even in nj....i had an orange shirt on yesterday by happenstance, a sun blocking fishing shirt, and my neighbor was like, we're gonna win brother....didn't have the heart to tell him it was by accident, like the time i had an orange beanie on in cincinnatti for my son's graduation from miami, and the bengals were playing, and i was getting thumbs up from everyone....don't follow nfl and didn't know anything about the bengals...thursday was in the city and knicks fans were everywhere. i'm not big on sports at all, but it is a nice feeling. a break from the dour times we live with every day with the orange haired turd....
I watched the NBA finals and the Knicks play in the way we need to approach the mid-terms. Keep your head down and continue to push for the win regardless of what the score says!
I keep calling using 5 calls. I noticed the betting markets are favoring Paxton now; I’m curious how accurate you think the betting markets are compared to polling.
I couldn’t agree more! There’s a good reason The Downballot has banned references to Polymarket metrics. And yes, Polymarket is associated with the notorious Peter Thiel of Palantir infamy. Also, this is whom Nate Silver has chosen to go into business with.
Gilding the Arts of War horses is a bridge too far. I grew up in the D.C. area and always looked for the big horses as we crossed the bridge on the way in town, like going to see the Holiday windows at Woodward & Lothrope. Hope it can be undone without damaging the art.
Self-report time - I’m off to three Flag Day events - our usual Sunday morning Menlo Park Speaks Out, then hop Caltrain to Redwood City for a larger Flag event, and then a watch party for Rise Up Sing out with Indivisible Portola Valley. Friday a week ago we made ~1000 whistle/Know Your Rights kits to send to Gilroy in anticipation of ICE. I also found out that the Santa Clara County supervisors are adamantly opposed to the proposed ICE concentration camp in Gilroy, the legal hook being violation of ag land protection ordinances. And I’m doing a rain/thunder/lightning dance for DC! Good to see the crowd watching the de-desecaration of the Kennedy Center, and the double rainbow!
Knicks in 5! As someone who grew up in the outer boroughs of NYC (same age as Simon) and spent 13 years living and working in Manhattan, the pride in my hometown is through the roof today (& I am not even a basketball fan)!!
Pure joy watching the pure joy of that amazing place.
I graduated from highschool in NJ in 1973 and loved the Knicks. Congrats to them and their MVP Jalen (from NJ!) Spent the next 5 years in Boston and the last 48 in the Bay Area. I'm happy if the Knicks, Celtics and the Warriors trade on and off winning the next dozen NBA championships!!!
Remember, June 14 was the day Melissa Hortman and her husband were murdered by a MAGA. Also date of the first No Kings protest. And, tonight, the first Rise Up, Sing Out concert, available to anyone to watch from home.
Well, I'm not a sports person, but I am a New Yorker, and, from what I understand, today, that is a good thing, and I'm gonna avail myself of this opportunity while it's hot, and also say, I watched Pete Hegseth on Face the Nation this morning, and it could be that I'm pretty obtuse, but fuck me if I can figure out what the hell his string of words amounted to except maybe Obama bad, Trump great, and Margaret Brennan, you don't know nothing.
And I also asked myself who does his makeup, 'cause even I will admit it looked good, but can someone tell me what his hair is made of, 'cause I don't think it's made of what mine is.
God bless the Kennedy Center and those who fought the good fight to return it to us.
clipped this one from a Sports Illustrated article. No locusts mentioned, but it could be very uncomfortable and buggy if it happens. Wouldn't that be something?
"The promotion, including UFC CEO Dana White, has repeatedly said the event will move forward should the condition be strictly rain. However, the fights cannot proceed if there are lightning strikes in the area.
The UFC will likely have to proceed with caution, though. AccuWeather forecasts predict the feel-like temperature will be 102 degrees (with an actual temperature of 74 degrees) in the evening, along with an 80 percent chance of rain and a 55 percent chance of thunderstorms as the day continues."
Josh Marshall of Talking Points memo flagged this quote from Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks about being down 16 or 29 points in a game and coming back and winning: "You're allowed to think about the worst possible scenario. But then you gotta go out and do something about it." This also expresses the attitude of Simon Rosenberg and other proud, plucky patriots.
I have seen so much joy online. The Knicks winning (IMO there is no city in our country like NYC) and Scots walking around in kilts in Boston, singing their anthem with pride during the opening ceremony. I'm not a basketball or soccer fan, but seeing all that joy on social media brought me to tears.
Little Donnie will probably fall asleep tonight.
Next weekend the Obama Center opens on Juneteenth with every living President attending except for little donnie. The cry baby was not invited. Big parade in NYC on Thursday for the Knicks.
Happy Flag Day!
Great video on Threads today from Gov. Moore celebrating the Army's 251st birthday.
I’ve always loved how sports can inspire and bring communities together! We’ve had fun watching the start of the World Cup which has had its share of inspiring performances! Thx again Simon for all you do!
Thanks, Simon, and Happy Flag Day!

we'll need another court order to take the damn thing down! and pronto!
Norm Eisen wrote about it. Yes, the court order is coming soon, I hope.
Someone said 1 of orange's kids made $$$$$$$ off the tarp and scaffolding in stock. That means it will stay up. It's disgusting.
I just went outside. It is very, very hot today.
Hoping for lightning to strike in the appropriate DC places at the appropriate time.

El Presidente Camacho approves of the motorcycle stunts. Idiocracy was prophecy.

I do not believe betting markets are a reliable window into any election, and Polymarket is a Thiel-backed, right aligned enterprise.
Thank you!
Another question I truly hope you will address in the Wednesday zoom call-this information from Robert Reich: https://robertreich.substack.com/p/warning-trumps-rolling-coup-is-underway?r=hh5yh&utm_medium=ios

Thank you for those reminders, Bill.
Many cities/towns are putting it on large tvs too.

As for the rest of the day, well....
I’m waiting for a plague of locusts 🤔

Thanks for the info: I read that an entomologist said it would be 100 💯 percent bugs 🐜
Bring it on!
Plague of mosquitoes. Maybe some ticks. What else?
or a lethal lightning strike.
Even with a bunch of professional "bodies" there, he's probably the largest mass electricity would find.

I don't think The Felon-in-Chief is finished desecrating monuments. We must watch carefully to make sure he doesn't mess with the Statue of Liberty.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Mad King Donald tries to author a new plaque, to replace the beautiful poem written by Emma Lazarus.
I tremble at the thought.
I have a feeling that New Yorkers and New Jerseyans would take up arms and head directly to the island.
It could end up as out/out war.
I have been thinking about that, brings to mind the ending frame of "Planet/Apes."
At this rate I’m surprised he hasn’t floated putting his name on the headstones at Arlington
