Campaign hasn’t released figures yet, but said it was the best individual fundraising hours of his re-election campaign.

I'm all in. I have been shouting from the mountains that his State of the Union was a masterclass in leadership. I am so proud to support Joe. Thanks for your work Simon - we can do this!

Me, too. He stirred up people like us who are enthusiastically expanding our base.

The most effective argument for MAGATS to decrease Republican support is visceral rather than rational.

Trump hates dogs.

Stole from kids with cancer and disabled veterans.

Like a punch to the gut.

16 million veterans. "Not suckers or losers" makes MAGATs at the Legion, VFW, etc choke on their beer.

I totally agree Daniel. One of our best weapons is enthusiasm because just like you said they aren't persuaded by fact's, but they cower to confidence. I don't care who I am talking to, but I am incredibly proud to support Biden and the Democratic Party.

Same with kids with cancer. He paid a $2 Mil fine. https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/2019/donald-j-trump-pays-court-ordered-2-million-illegally-using-trump-foundation

I saw a great comment that the GOP might now regret setting the bar for Biden at dementia. 😆

I’ve always been hopeful that Biden can win this, but last night really gave me a big hit of Hopium. We’re going to win this!

Exactly! I loved seeing Fox News trying to pivot to "Joe on drugs" because his performance was so incredible. I don't even care if he was, but talk about hypocrisy when you look at Trump's White House pharmacy prescription list...

Elaine Chao and Betsy De Vos had it right when they tried to assert the 25th Amendment to remove Trump after Jan 6, 2001 because he was unfit for office.

IMHO unfit to stand trial in NY.

Absolutely fabulous speech by Biden last night. I found myself clapping and standing up throughout the two hours, here in my house all by myself. Really, I thought he was masterful.

We have to keep this enthusiasm going for the sake of our great country!!!

I was literally cringing at the way she delivered her message regardless of content. She came across as fake and the type of mom that talks crap about every other student in her kid's class just so her family looks a tiny bit better. Also, was there any real message beyond pandering to her base?

It’s like she asked a bootleg version of ChatGPT “How do I seem genuine?” and went with that. It was truly bizarre. SNL is almost certain to mock it, cementing it in public consciousness as much as Little Marco Rubio swigging from that tiny water bottle. 😆

My mind boggles at a party that has seen since Dobbs that they’re in trouble with white women voters (they never had Black women to begin with, but they desperately need that 55% of white women who voted Trump) and decides “You know what we should do? We should have our response given by a young, accomplished woman, in fact the youngest GOP female Senator ever. And we should put her in a kitchen, because we want to really hammer home our position that women shouldn’t have space in public life. And while she’s in her kitchen, let’s have her veer creepily between anger and smiles like she’s auditioning for the reboot of The Handmaid’s Tale, laying out a version of America that is dark, depressing, and incredibly gloomy. That’ll really show that we’re not waging a war on women.” 😳🙄

Yeah, the whole crying sorority girl thing, was really over-the-top. She is young for a Senator, particularly a woman Republican Senator. The state-of-the-union response usually falls flat. Best response that I ever saw, was years ago, when the Republican Senate leader responded to one of Bill Clinton's SOTU. Make no mistake, Clinton was a master communicator, but on that night Dole was better. That is a rare thing however.

Hey Simon:

You mentioned somewhere recently that Pub turnout has been tepid over the past year+. Could you (or Tom Bonier?) give us some #s on that in a future post?

IMO this is where the rubber (voter sentiments and everything that goes into that) will meet the brass tacks. Getting ppl to switch is v hard; getting existing supporters to (not) turn out, easier.

Hillary, for instance, just couldn't Dem turnout. 1. A decade+ of Pub attacks, worked, and 2. The Pub machine (eg Cambridge Analytics) was all about slamming Hillary *to Dems,* to suppress Dem vote.

Add Rachel Bitecofer's (correct) hobby horse: voting is 99% partisan these days, and much of it is voting *against* the bad guy. (eg My whole presidential voting career since '76: voting *against* Pubs. Exception: Obama 2008 (but not 2012).

Love to see some recent turnout analysis. Thanks!

He’s spot on, just like you have been saying Simon. And so true about the women vote, they keep underestimating it! Yep great jobs report, Biden added the population of Buffalo to the workforce in February.

In January Biden saw 250,000 fewer layoffs than Trumps pre-pandemic average. The increase in Unemployment is almost surely from new people getting off the sidelines to look for work.
