Which market are you in? This is awful.

🤮. I noticed comments are turned off!

Agree that DEMS need to hit back with strong messages of our own. Like the J6 hearings did, we need to hire Hollywood producers, writers, and directors to work with DEM leaders to craft messages about all the harm he is already doing and how Biden/Harris did things to help the average American.

The EO to halt all funding of the Infrastructure bill is an easy-to-understand example. Show scenes of people working on Infrastructure projects and connect it to Biden/Harris and how it will help those communities, then show TFG writing the EO to cancel it followed by scenes of half-built rusting projects and people standing in the unemployment line. Perhaps narration to connect the dots about how TFG's stopping of the funding has/will negatively impact those communities and then blast it constantly via all the ways you mentioned non-stop for weeks. IOW, slick campaign-style ads that quickly get the message across and constantly pounded home in targeted markets.

Simon, in your interview with Congressman Swalwell, you and he keep referring to "214" House Dems. We had 215. Why are Dems now at 214?

Expand full comment

It was meant to be Hakeem plus the 214

How is it possible to stop funding that was passed through bipartisan legislation and signed into law?

Expand full comment

It’s not. Unless his captured Supreme Court says laws don’t matter, and then we’ve got bigger problems.

This just in: Republicans know that many jobs from IIJA & IRA, tied to clean energy manufacturing, are valuable. Clean energy tax credits have a good change of surviving.

In regards to Simon's point about values/policies vs messaging, we have been doing the work by creating an industrial manufacturing policy to keep the supply chain here, not China. A huge amount of work (inspiring) has been done since 2020 via legislation but also Loan Programs Office at the Dept. of Energy. (Granholm & Jigar Shah)

Anyway, I'll emphasize these values and policies at Plugged In EV going forward (pivoting away from EV education a bit to showcasing our clean energy wins).

Thank you for this information. Perhaps those politicians recognize that funding benefits their constituents in the form of jobs.

Simon, thank you so much for casting a fascinating light on the DNC’s process for choosing its new Chair, and where that currently stands. But especially your continuing insights on the challenges that the DNC and the Democratic Party are facing today – and the need to evolve.

Yes. Simon’s insights here and interviews gives me confidence we will have a the right plan and implement it.

I have the same question as Mingo- how can he stop funding for something that is a law? I am beyond asking "why" because there is no rationale, but how does this work? And do current projects just stop?

We keep hoping that a few GOP legislators will find some courage and honesty, or at least realize Congress and their own futures depend on opposing Trump. They haven't so far.

Expand full comment

Do we as Dems (in those GOP represented states)reach out to the constituents of the republicans? We need to step up, educating them on how these things benefit their constituents, so the constituents step up and tell their GOP legislators step up, or risk being voted out next time around.

Democrats have to oppose the right DEI – Daddy Trump putting Don Jr, Eric and Ivanka in positions for which they are not remotely qualified. (Obviously, we also need to oppose Trump’s DUI hires, such as Pete Hegseth.)

It seems the blanket pardons of the 1/6 criminals may end up garnering the most outrage among most Americans, but it happened on Day One. It is the tendency of the media to just move on to the next outrage. But this one is EASY to understand. Just like in 1979, every single night we were reminded of how many days the Iranian hostages had been in captivity, we need a daily mantra of 1) a particular criminal's actions that day, 2) a particular lawmaker's response to the pardons, and 3) the effects it had on particular police. I fear it will be lost.

Just out of frustration and my own mantra to be creative as a bulwark against depression, here:

Where are you, Publius Clodius Thrasea Paetus?

The match has been lit;

The orange Nero won’t quit

Until he’s burned our great land

By his small grubby hand,

This traitor turned arsonist,

This pure textbook narcissist.

Yet a big question persists

Of the will to resist:

Will they grab a bucket,

Or just let him f*@k it?

Not to get burned, they sit back and cower

And cement their history as unparalleled cowards

Who watched America destroyed by their knave-

Our once-great land of the free; our home of the once-brave.

Borowitz nails it:

"Nation Shocked By Spectacle of Someone in Washington Advocating Kindness"

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — Calling the performance “jarring,” millions of Americans were emotionally unprepared on Tuesday for the bizarre spectacle of someone in Washington advocating kindness.

After a day filled with angry calls for exclusion, scapegoating, and random cruelty, the quiet two-minute plea for mercy left many Americans in a state of shock.

Harland Dorrinson, who watched the incongruous request for empathy at his home in Akron, Ohio, echoed the sentiments of many when he questioned whether he had heard the speaker’s words correctly.

“At first, I thought I was hearing things,” he said. “I’d been drinking since Monday morning.”

I’m continuing to try to get support for what may be the most critical state election of 2025, the WI Supreme Court election on April 1, 2025. Maintaining the court’s balance will not only protect WI residents from extremism but could impact Congressional maps. Justice Susan Crawford needs support. Thanks to those who have already answered the call.

When I read yesterday Trump thinks FEMA needs to be IIRC restructured or revised, I thought this is becauise he doesn't understand how it works. So, rather than admit a defect on his part, it's gotta go. What a walking, talking disaster this man is. He shouldn't have even the lowest job on the rung.

Would anyone be interested in how Elon hacked the 2024 election? Watch the video at the 40:00 mark. Remember, Elon said anything could be hacked. Trump said he didn’t need anymore votes. And then the thank you to Elon at the last rally. https://www.youtube.com/live/PgXOkfVVtbk?si=nN-1HcLfdyJdNdTp

Thank you. Just watched. That makes sense to me considering the remarks Trump has made about Elon helping him in Pennsylvania and being able to hack anything. It also makes sense why Trump is being so draconian on day 1-2. He wants to scare people. He wants to keep people in line. Especially elected officials. He wants to rule us with an iron fist.

We can have all of the statues of the important people in history. But how long will it take for him to tear them down, just like he took the Constitution off the White House website? The Constitution is not going to save us here. We have to do something else. He is destroying our country brick by brick, day by day.
