Polymarket for the Second Coming of Christ before 2027 briefly spiked to $0.045 after the start of the war. It's fallen back down to $0.039, which is about which is about where it was in December 2025. That's for a "Yes" bet, in case you were wondering. Taking the "No" at this time is a much better investment than the S&P. Not that I would give any investment advice!

(I just had to see if that market existed. It does. The volume was $47 million.)

I'll work at my post carding later on tonight. I'll probably watch Harry Litman and/or Rick Wilson, assuming they do their regular offerings, while I'm writing postcards. Today it will be FT6 to IA 1st District, voter registration.

Michael G Baer's avatar

So if Christ comes down from on high... will people on the Yes be able to collect their bet before they are whisked away to the afterlife? You know what they say... you can't take it with you.

Just like Trump, maybe they didn't think it all the way through.

Patrick's avatar

It is possible it hasn’t been thought through.

David E.'s avatar

Yes, it's possible.

Susan Troy's avatar

My, my. Wouldn't that be a surprise? Here's a joke from Hawaii I got from a friend of mine: A young secretary walks into Trump's office and coos, "Mr. President, I dreamed about you last night." Trump responds, "How did my hair look?" "Oh, I don't know. The casket was closed."

Virginia Shultz-Charette's avatar

Shrouds don't have pockets.

Tom Thumb's avatar

Thanks, Patrick. Considering the fact that nearly twice as many people in our country believe in angels than evolution, I'm a little surprised the volume isn't higher. People must be quibbling about the date (having been burned on that front a few times before) or unaware that the Antichrist is already here waiting.

Patrick's avatar

Is that statistic really true? Yikes. I’ve never heard that before.

Susan Troy's avatar

Sadly, lots of those folks confuse DT with Jesus. That one makes me want to throw up.

Susan Troy's avatar

Way to go. I write ten postcards a day. I consider them my political vitamin pills.

Patrick's avatar

10/day is a lot. I’m probably over time more at 3-4/day. I might do 20-25 in one day at the most. Thanks for doing that.

Bruce Taylor's avatar

The worse it gets for trump in the Iran war, the more likely he will be to attack Cuba. Just so he can chalk up a “win”.

Patrick's avatar

Yeah well, he will need to change the narrative, right? The Emperor needs something for his Triumph.

BeeBeeinNYC's avatar

Dear Lord,

He's meeting with Japan's PM.

I hope he's not going to do his embarrassing rant: You don't hold the cards! You don't have the cards!

When DEMs retake power, I'm writing my reps to pass legislation: No elected official and/or a member of their staff/cabinet/admin is EVER to utter another word about holding cards.

BeeBeeinNYC's avatar

I also expect that after the Japanese PM leaves US airspace, he starts in with his: What language was she speaking? She speaks a language - like- no one's ever heard a language like that before!

BeeBeeinNYC's avatar

And, I think he's falling asleep already because he has to wait for translations.

Tom Thumb's avatar

So someone from Japan asks him about why he didn't tell the allies about his war plans. He responded by saying that's a funny question for someone from Japan to ask, you know all about surprises, you love surprises, why didn't you tell me about Pearl Harbor? Well, first of all, Donald, how old were you in 1941? Second, wow, what an insatiable sense of grievance. I would have thought that was literally a dead issue after Truman decided against showing the Japanese the a-bomb before dropping it on two of their cities, killing many times the number of Americans who died at Pearl Harbor. The Japanese PM looked very uncomfortable during this exchanwge. Just before that he took a question intended for her and answered it before realizing what he'd done and handing off. What an idiot.

BeeBeeinNYC's avatar

I like to think - because it eases some pain in my heart, head & soul - that when a Japanese-speaking reporter asked the PM a question, they were really asking: "Just how bad does he smell?"

Susan Troy's avatar

Sadly, Japan's PM is a super hawk.

Amen, Simon, both on ending the war and demanding more and more and more from the party fornerly known as Republican--that's how negotiations work with these people: FAFO.

An article from The Atlantic today (gift link below) that underscores just how serious this is and the real traitorous reason why Trump may not want to end it anytime soon, unless he's *forced* to. The two big winners, with irreversible consequences for the rest of the world: kompromot & cash, Russia & China, the balloon payment on his mortgage of our country: https://www.theatlantic.com/podcasts/2026/03/trump-is-kicking-the-economy-while-its-down/686446/?gift=FgeEACUw4iJoER4ZiZvsnDKWdZqNbzixanPMkKC03nA&utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share

This is a really good article. The part about “oil prices aren’t as high as they should be because the market thinks Trump will back down, and Trump’s not backing down because oil prices aren’t as high” is just a microcosm of how upside down nutso this all is.

And this part was chilling with the recent attack on natural gas infrastructure:

“And [attacks on infrastructure] would be an escalation in part because, theoretically—and this is how one source, an energy analyst, described it to me this way. He told me, You could think of the Strait of Hormuz as like a kink in the hose of global oil supply. Technically, that’s bad, but you could unkink it at any point. If you attack it at its source, it’s like attacking the faucet. And if you’ve attacked the faucet, if you cut off this oil at its source, it could be weeks, months, even longer before you can get production back online.

And so that is the primary way this could possibly escalate further, is the actual sources of this production could be destroyed. That is the real nightmare scenario, is you end up with this kind of escalation that results in the destruction of a lot of this infrastructure in a way that can’t be undone for a long time.”

Tom Thumb's avatar

Thanks for pointing out those parts of the article, John. I was so angry about Russia and China; I didn't even think of including them.

I thought our military had a responsibility (by law) to NOT participate in an illegal war. Why are they? Are they in Trump's pocket? What is going on. I hope there is someone investigating this. No more people can die. One of the soldiers who was killed yesterday was an only child. My heart aches for all those families. I think the worst thing that can happen is to lose a child. Unbearable!

Is Susie Wiles actually leaving? I read she has breast cancer but was going to work through treatments.

In California on vacation. Gas is over $6 a gallon 😳😱🤯

Susan Dieterlen's avatar

I'm confused, too.

Tom Thumb's avatar

On a lighter note, hey, so it's been a day and a half since Venezuela won the World Baseball Classic. Anyone know when the mixed media AI from the White House showing Trump striking out, serving up homers, making errors, and getting tagged out at every base is going to drop?

John Payne's avatar

Today’s post really conveys the state of emergency this country and the world are in right now. The attacks on natural gas infrastructure are an example. My calls today to my MOCs will try to match that sense of urgency.

Reposting this video of NFL player Ryan Clark reacting to a question about the use of his highlight plays in one of hegseth’s juvenile war videos. His thoughtful takedown of this bunch is really worth a watch. https://youtu.be/G-9ieV6m494?si=TFBx3ZDWPuIprm45

Also wanted to share this excellent visual article on the costs of the war and note at the end what that money could have been used for. https://www.theguardian.com/world/ng-interactive/2026/mar/19/us-iran-war-cost

You're on fire today Bee! (pun intended!)

I'm sorry to be such a wanker. This is the way I process despair and mortification.

No worries Bee!

Just called and left hair on fire messages for Booker & Kim. I've had it. They sneaked cameras in to the transfer of remains after families asked them not to. Told the senators it's time to think outside the box.

Will be meeting with state assembly folks this evening and with our county Dems club. Will be nice to be in the company of likeminded folks talking in a rational way about things that matter. How refreshing. Keep going.

KBH's avatar

You go, Lisa!!! And you inspire us with all your consistent and meaningful actions.

*This is a repost from a few days ago. * Off topic: Does Simon or anyone else have any thoughts, input, etc. on the Independent candidates running against Rounds in SD (Brian Bengs) or in MT Seth Bodnar vs. which ever R wins the R primary? Do their of these candidates have a legit chance at winning their respective elections? Looking to crowd source the wisdom of an engaged audience. Thanks.

Kodaz's avatar

Yes, the war must end and trump must be removed from office. If not removed, it'll be one disaster after another.

Simon - I trust you to give me accurate information - Susie Wiles is not leaving the White House unless know something no one else does!

Simon Rosenberg's avatar

She's clearly been looking for a way to exit and has one now. Doesn't matter what they are saying, what stories they are telling. She is on her way out. May not be today or next week but it will be soon.

Susan Dieterlen's avatar

This seems like a big deal, like she's important. Could you talk more about this, Simon?

KBH's avatar

Ugh! Which is worse--having to work in Trump's WH or getting diagnosed with breast cancer? If she's smart, she'll take the off ramp available to her and get the hell out of there.

Ted N's avatar

Thanks for asking this, I was wondering the same thing.

Simon was maybe a few months “early” on Noem’s exit. Nobody can predict when but we can clearly trust his hunches in the what and why…
