Clearly Americans are being served a Lame Duck for Thanksgiving – and this more than three years before his term is up! The details served up by Simon are telling and devastating.
It’s wonderful to see all the hard work of the Hopium Community and other good patriots, combined with the incredible self-sabotage of Mad King Donald and his Team of Losers, bring this about.
In the months ahead, it’s only going to get worse for the MAGA-Republican Party and their wannabe dictator. This November and in the special elections preceding it, Republicans were trounced up and down the ballot. Between now and November 2026, our Blue Tsunami will gather further strength!
imo it's because T has long been involved in international trafficking networks - dismantling them threatens his sources of income and he's losing his filters - no one can convince him it's a bad look. as I unerstand it, is considering, has not yet pardoned
Thank you, Simon. I live in rural southern AZ, 40 miles from the border. It is quiet and peaceful here. Nothing has changed but the price of food. Reading you and other courageous Substack truth-tellers is sort of like watching a gripping science fiction political thriller, although nobody could have imagined that people this monstrous would really be in charge of this nation. Casting Kennedy in charge of DHHS, Noem in charge of Homeland Security, Patel in charge of the FBI, and, especially Kegsbreath in charge of war are hilarious choices that really drive this plot. I like the current plot twist that they are losing big! Coming soon to a town near you.
Walz asking for MRI results was genius response to Trump's "retarded" comment.
Kegsbreath will be charged with warcrimes and murder.. Wykoff will be tried for treason after the Bloomberg leak on "peace plan" conversation with Kremlin. Noem is already being forced to testify to Boasberg for criminal contempt on refusing to turning around the planes to El Salvador. Emil Bove will also have to testify to Boasberg. Pam Bondi is in deep sh*t for all of these frivolous lawsuits, lying about Epstein files and her oversight on Comey case.
Keep calling.
p.s. update 11 hours later: Here is a great update with Ben Meisalas and Harry Litman discussing this contempt case with Boasberg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNP2IZIryVQ
.... and don't forget that if the writer Michael Wolff pursues his current lawsuit against Melania, he gets to depose not just Mrs. Trump, but Trump himself, in addition to G. Maxwell.
Since 2019 I've believed that Trump is a stone cold traitor. Eventually the full details will come out, and I think people will be shocked (provided we still have the collective capacity for shock), when they do. What has been crystal clear, to me anyway, is that Trump is for Trump and only for Trump.
There is no question in my mind that our government is not legitimate at this point. Congress act to save our democracy, our humanity, our standing in the world and among our own citizens. What are you waiting for?
The architect of the ballroom project has taken a step back and allowed the president to personally manage the project. What's next, giving fabric swatches and paint sample cards to keep the toddler in chief occupied. That was done to his father in his later throes of dementia. Send pops to the office in his limo, all dressed up and gave him fake contracts and papers to sign. That's what they do with dementia patients in memory care. Put them in geri chairs with locking trays so they can't get out and wander around to hurt themselves or someone else. Give them crayons and paper to occupy what's left of their brains. When is Congress going to step in and do something about the demented madman in the White House?
I admit I will sometimes gasp when he spews his crap in front of people. Even now. Even after all this. Even after some - what? - 10 years?
What I realized only as of today is that my gasp is not a reaction to his comportment/his words, it's that I'm waiting to see how the journalist will respond to him in real time, and whether/when the Republicans will do a Big Boy (or Girl), take decisive action to remove him or attempt to persuade his family to place him in custodial/medical care.
He has a daily column, filled with expletives, and it's absolutely hilarious and therapy for the soul while reading his vents. He points out that it has been more than 3800 days since Trump came down that escalator in 2015, and not once has any journalist of any stripe ever asked him "What the F*ck is Wrong with You?!!! They missed another great opportunity when he called that reporter "stupid" three times in about 1 minute.
Tiedrich feels that the first journalist to do so deserves a Lifetime Pulitzer award.
I'm at a loss as to why corporate media won't call any of this out. I also subscribe to Jeff's Substack. The only reason I can think of is most media is now owned by oligarchs and they don't want to rock the boat. Congress needs to do their job. They have no excuse and their inaction will guarantee they won't have jobs either in the near future.
Why just a few days ago the NYT had a lead article that Trump was tired, getting to work after noon, and spending 39% less time at work in this round than in his first administration.... They were only six or seven months behind the 8-ball on that one.
Corporate media is taking a path of least resistance, avoiding Trump's ire (lawsuits) and feeding the status quo (horse race, etc) that they have been profiteering off that model for decades. Many journalists might still believe in vetting the government, but their corporate masters have them on a short leash. That is why substack is doing so well and drawing over alot of the media talent.
But Trump is in so much decline that FINALLY, they are starting to let it leak out through their corporate avenues that the man might be wearing out.
They have absolutely failed over the last decade as the fourth column invisioned by the founders. I am as angry at them as I am at the GOP congress.
I wish there was a confirmed legitimacy crisis for the warmongers. Nevertheless, here's my suggestion for an headline. "Big, Big Mack Truck Bearing Down on Trump Regime and Dumb*_ss Supplicants – And There's Not Way They Can Dodge the Invevitable." Yet, I'm a realist and believe in all this chaos we take what we can get, hope for the best, keep fingers crossed and contribute as much as we can. Happy Holidays wherever folks find it.
Looking at the graph, above, of Congressional Job Approval Rating separated out by the voters’ political affiliation, I’m seeing the Democrats’ response as a damped inversion of the Republican response. I’m reminded of Michelle Obama’s remarks in a different context, “When they go low, we go high.”
My discretionary contributions here in the “working class” (poor, under-employed, SNAP-receiving, Medicaid, eligible, and too many homeless) rural Sierra Nevada this “holiday season” are going to food drives and fire relief on the grounds that these practical efforts at building community are all spearheaded by local Democrats, some of whom are running for state or local offices. If these knee-jerk MAGAts are ever going to vote blue-ish, it’ll be because their blue neighbor who played the music for the fund-raiser that paid for their new well-house is now running for the school board…
Plus, I believe in sturdy well houses.
So, if I make a shepherd’s pie using leftover Thanksgiving ham should I call it a swineherd’s pie?
Oh Michael, do be “quiet.” Har har har. Left over ham layered atop left over green bean casserole augmented by a pack of frozen peas and carrots, all snuggled under left over mashed potatoes. I will grind up the rest of the left over ham to make a meat loaf after we tire of the Swineherd’s Pie.
The ugly part will be when Republicans decide to go for 47’s jugular; which I believe they will decide they have to in order to save their own. Then we’ll have a chorus of “out damned spot!”
One of America’s most under-reported stories is how Trump’s MAGA allies took over one state-level party organization after another after Trump’s 2016 Electoral College victory over Hillary.
But I am seeing the once-high-flying Make America Great signs disappear. My neighbors are very worried about their livelihood and unhappy about all things Epstein. And they do vote. Republican legislators are beginning to turn on him publicly — after all, he isn’t helping their careers…. I’m not so sure Trumpism can remain entrenched. It’s a we’ll wait and see atmosphere.
I am ashamed, but not surprised, that our president did not visit the two members of the National Guard in the hospital. Joe Biden would have been there in a flash. But then, nothing Trump does surprises me anymore. It just shocks and disappoints me. I can't wait for the midterm elections to be here.
well, I;m wondering if the killing was a stochastic violence thing - T was probably disappointed we all reacted with tears for the guardsppl instead of giving an occasion for martial law. 'they' are desperate
Simon, thanks for the polling information. It's great to see him in the 30s because I believe he has a nut-job cult base of 30-something. If he's down to those folks, he's toast. I heard Rick Wilson say that Trump's numbers took a deep dive when he tore up the East Wing, that more Americans were upset by that than he might have expected. I hope so.
There's a point when the snowball starts rolling downhill where it just picks up more and more speed as it goes. I'm hoping that's where we are with Trump's lame duck term.
Be patient, Trump will cross into the 20s, at least as outliers, before this is said and done. It feels like we are at the point of the curve where it will accelerate even faster than it has...

Here's a summary and analysis of the international law case re: murder of shipwreck survivors and whether Hegseth order to kill survivors meets conditions of Peleus:
The Peleus war-crimes trial concerned the German submarine U-852, whose captain, Kapitänleutnant Heinz-Wilhelm Eck, ordered the killing of survivors of the steamship Peleus after it had been torpedoed.
Thanks for that link. It’s not a grey area in the slightest. It wasn’t even done in the heat of combat. It’s stone cold calculated pre-meditated first degree murder.
Doesn't it remind you of "Nuremburg" which just came out to the theaters a couple weeks ago? I thought it was sn outstanding film, despite the disturbing real time footage of the death camps.
Russell Crowe was incredible as Goring... my choice for best actor at the Oscars.
I’d say that the legitimacy of this malevolent regime ran out a long time ago. Americans must run these thugs out of town in 2026. Let’s make that our New Year resolution for our country, our resolution for our revolution.

Duck Season! Rabbit Season! Duck Season!
Does anyone know why he pardoned Hernandez?
He never met a criminal he didn't like. Birds of a feather.....Excellent report.
I read somewhere that it's likely an attempt to meddle in Honduran politics, which has an election coming up. Grotesque on every level.
grift
Yeah, this. He is probably being paid.
when in doubt

just ran across something else - the guy has something to do with crypto or something that is enriching the bros.

Are you doing anything for Sherrod Brown for Senate? We need him back!!!!!!
I am sure we will in the New Year. Such a key target.
Also Simon updates us periodically re: Sherrod Brown polling

can't wait for Amazon to buy that documentary
Except we are boycotting Amazon. Someone else can produce it...

He’s planning Germania from his bunker while his Reich collapses around him.

"I'm at a loss as to why corporate media won't call any of this out."
Simple answer: Money. Such confrontation might restrict their access and thus sabotage their coverage of Circus Trump, a surefire money-maker.
The architect of the Ballroom Project being replaced by Mad King Donald himself? What could possibly go wrong?!?
Please pass the popcorn and my accounting ledger.
I wish there was a confirmed legitimacy crisis for the warmongers. Nevertheless, here's my suggestion for an headline. It is not realistic to doubt the data Simon lays out for us.
For you ... NOT FOR ME.
Looking at the graph, above, of Congressional Job Approval Rating separated out by the voters’ political affiliation, I’m seeing the Democrats’ response as a damped inversion of the Republican response. I’m reminded of Michelle Obama’s remarks in a different context, “When they go low, we go high.”

yum yum, no matter what you call it.
Thank you Emily for ALL of your good works
“When they go low, we go high.”
After far too many gut punches, Democrats are finally "going high". In other words: going for the jugular!
The ugly part will be when Republicans decide to go for 47’s jugular; which I believe they will decide they have to in order to save their own. Then we’ll have a chorus of “out damned spot!”
That’s not going to happen.

Today, Trump *IS* the Republican Party.
That was the m.o. of the take over. Yes.

Your wsj gifted article was not available.
It worked for me in the the Firefox browser on my MacBook, but I had to complete the puzzle by sliding the missing piece into position.
It worked for me on my iPhone but I had to nix a “wouldn’t you like to subscribe” popup by clicking in the upper right
It worked for me but only after I set up a nonsubscriber WSJ account.
