Our Aurora, Colorado Representative, Jason Crow CD06, is leading the fight against Trumpism! https://www.denverpost.com/2026/02/11/jason-crow-indictment-attempt-donald-trump/?share=p2enea2rtjonwepotadm

Also, the Denver City Council is progressing anti-ICE laws: https://www.denverpost.com/2026/02/11/denver-ice-face-coverings-masks-ban-committee/?share=tseeccncnv0e1cn2smbp

We are working hard to flip the 4 Colorado Republican-held Congressional seats (Hurd, Boebert, Crank, Evans) in November!

Love Colorado and Jason Crow! Thanks for the update!

KBH's avatar

Hope Jason Crow will be President one day. This country needs his thoughtful, bold leadership.

This is so great. Having been a Colorado resident for 20 years I'm so proud of all of you. WOW. Thanks for posting these. Boebert used to be my rep. UGH. She was so tough to even contact. I'm rooting for Trisha Calvanese (is that her name?) Her emails are straight talk and no BS. I like her.

Great job, Colorado!

Wonderful to read. Thanks!

Great news! Who's running against Boebert? That election was pretty close last time as I recall.

I woke up this morning after watching Simon‘s talk last night with a different opinion about primaries than I’ve had for a number of months.

I have been thinking about how successful we’ve been at moving the debate and the intensity of our own leaders over the last 13 months, and even how successful we’ve been at moving Republicans in that time.

We have a long way to go, but to deny that we haven’t dramatically shifted the center of gravity about what the debates are, and how hard and furiously we should be fighting them, would just be dishonest.

And that made me realize, even if we replaced all of our candidates with new people in primaries, those leaders are likely going to have to be reminded through our engagement and input what we expect them to focus on and do as well. They’re gonna get sucked into the same fire hydrant of lobbyists, donors, meetings, media nonsense, and pressure from leadership than anybody else is.

I have no problem engaging in primary challenges when there’s an extraordinary candidate you want to back, but let’s level set around the fact that we are going to have to keep putting this level of pressure on Congress if we actually want them to do all the big things that we dream of, even after we claw our way back into a trifecta.

So my new motto is, unless there is somebody running in a primary that is so compelling that I think to myself, “I need this person to be in Congress” I’m gonna put my efforts on making the team that we have the team that we need.

Also, all of this contacting of my senators and representative, knowing that all of you are also doing it, has made me feel part of a grand project. It’s made me feel part of a big team… It makes me feel empowered, like we’re going to win. It makes me feel like we have collective strength because we’re moving in the same direction… Because we’re engaged in a similar activity for a set of shared goals. That’s a very different feeling than I get when I watch us fight amongst ourselves in primaries out of anger at the incumbent rather than enthusiasm for the candidate we’re backing.

Please understand, I’m not criticizing anyone here or anywhere for engaging in a primary election… I trust your judgment. It’s just that I have realized that what we are doing with our current members of Congress is still going to be necessary, no matter what collection of candidates we field in the election. I’m proud to be on this team… Let’s remember who our real opponents are… The ones trying to shred the constitution. And let’s go kick their asses.

Kate O'Shea's avatar

Well thought out and said!

John Payne's avatar

I’m dealing with a contentious primary in my own district and this makes a lot of sense to me. Well said

PianoManSteve's avatar

As long as we don’t let our temporary battles for who should be on the ballot cause us to sit on the couch in November, it’s all good! 😎🇺🇸

I am fighting for America in a different way, a third path to a better future at EthicalGovtNow.org. We must aggregate to be heard.

I just clicked on your link to see what the organization is all about, and the “About” Page takes you to a “page cannot be found“ dead link. I find this comment and this link to be somewhat specious. It’s not in my nature to be accusatory, But this feels a little spammy. Care to elaborate?

Peter Morrell's avatar

Hi PianoManSteve, I just clicked on the link and it took me directly to EGN's website. Sorry. Please try again and let me know what you think of my site. Thank you and CHEERS! Peter

It worked this time… It appears that we are values aligned. Best of luck… I’m already dialed into too many other organizations. But it takes a village. 👍🇺🇸

Simon, thank you for last night's optimistic discussion!

I called Congressman Raskin and Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen to ask them to do whatever it takes to stop ICE concentration camps from spreading across the country. I also asked my senators to stop the "SAVE Act." I'm writing postcards to NC voters today.

Rachel's avatar

I make the same 3 calls daily. I always thank them for their strong actions. Sometimes I also email them such as I did last night about opposing the SAVE act once it was passed by House.

Kate Feldman's avatar

Me too!! Thanks Rachel. Thanks Catherine!!

DARLA's avatar

I hear Simon say every week that the chat is important. I have trouble doing that, reading to know what’s happening, doing my actions against th e regime, and taking care of family. But today I’m taking time to let this community know that there is a push in Texas to stop a company from selling a warehouse to ICE that’s in Hutchins Texas. I made my calls to the company and the CEO and I know they are getting a lot of calls. It will be one of the largest in the country and it’s a warehouse in a small town that does not have the water, sewer, medical staff, or anything else to take care of thousands of people.

Elizabeth T.'s avatar

Thanks, Darla! If you put the name and number of the company in the chat, I can get my TX family and friends to make some calls.

Company is Majestic Realty (HQ in CA): 562-692-9511. Dallas Contact: 972-726-0700 OR 972-232-3760. Email the Principles (Roski family): Contact Page= https://www.majesticrealty.com/people/ and Target is Edward P Roski, Jr. (President & Chairman)=https://www.majesticrealty.com/team/edward-p-roski-jr/. Appreciate the help but it is urgent as they are in the last stages of negotiation.

Kate Feldman's avatar

Here is the email I just sent:

Dear Mr. Roski,

I am writing to let you know that I strongly oppose the purchase of 950 I-45, Hutchins, TX 75141 by ICE for a detention facility. It is unconscionable that any such facility would be needed in the US unless there were a malevolent plan to lock up millions of documented, undocumented and potentially even legal immigrants over a period of many years. I hope that you will take seriously the opposition to this acquisition and act in a morally upright fashion, and not let the desire for money rule your decisions. Thank you.

Colleen's avatar

👏👏👏👏 Awesome Darla!

Kate Feldman's avatar

Why don't we all write and call. Give us the phone numbers, the names and the email addresses. I'll definitely call!

DARLA's avatar

I’ve given the phone numbers-I got through in Dallas. The two websites allow you to send a message to the company and the President. Click on the links and you are there. This is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

Lisa Iannucci's avatar

Well done, thanks for taking action and informing us about it!

Thanks Darla, that's awesome.

There will be impressive documentaries filmed, and books written about their bravery. We won’t even know all the best stories for probably 20 years.

BeeBeeinNYC's avatar

That's the way I feel about a lot of what's going on now. We are/have been in the midst of such upheaval, so much noise, that I feel each of us in Hopium is sort of blessed with the ability to still hear and see and smell things, and react in a constructive way.

And - this is the scary part - as bad as we know it is now, can you imagine, in hindsight, some years from now, what will be uncovered and excavated about the past 10 or so years? How much worse will we find out it was? How close we came to something that America thought she was immune to?

Maybe one of our Hopiates will write that book PianoManSteve refers to, or produce that documentary, or compose that symphony or opera.

Faith Wilson's avatar

We need to be ready to sustain more MN style resistance efforts to oppose the detention warehouses since that is the bigger fight. I suspect that due to negative public opinion on ICE that they are going to attempt to scale back the overt actions and then pivot to the quiet side of mass detention where it's harder to see what's going on.

PianoManSteve's avatar

💯💯💯

Although Trump won’t be able to help himself from engaging in new forms of strong man spectacle in short order… when the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem becomes a nail

Kent Boyer's avatar

Contacted the good Senators Durbin and Duckworth this morning to specifically ask them to add "no new detention centers" to their 10 points required for a DHS appropriation vote.

The overarching plan of these mofos must be stopped by starving it of funds. Thanks for a great meeting last night, Simon. We are all immigrants.

Has the tariff money been spent? How will be able to rebate them if they are not there? More debt? Somehow……..I did not think he had access to that cash…..🤮

Yaaaaayyyy! This is exciting as Trump crumbles, collapses and loses all his power and is summarily disposed into the refuse bin of history where other deranged, mentally deficient, diapered old men lie. Can’t wait!

Not yer. Must keep pushing!

I agree! I’m just more energized today than yesterday to keep in the fight, everyday in every legal way. Hope this report brings more joy to all of us who are fighting for our country’s democracy in our best way. We will win!

Annie's avatar

I have a really hard time visualizing that a part of us wants this agenda. I struggle with WHY? I struggle with Why someone would want to betray the basic premise of democracy and freedom for all. I don’t understand who wants to canibalize their own? I want to know who these people are? How did they come to this vision of us or us/them? I consider myself independent historically independent. Is naive a better description?

Would appreciate any links to articles to help me understand.

"Being “reasonable” is not what voters are looking for from us. What they want from us is to be strong, to prove we will fight for them, to not be well-intentioned, “reasonable” and virtuous, but strong and fierce enough to overcome the corruption, the oligarchs, the rough and tumble of politics to deliver for them. "

100% Simon!

I got a concurring email from David Hogg this morning. He invoked Mitch McConnell and his playbook for procedurally blocking Democratic Administrations as a minority leader.

Say what you will about the old turtle, he was very, very effective, and our leaders can learn a thing or two from that bast*rd.

Susan Dieterlen's avatar

In the spirit of being stronger, I have changed my ask in my daily calls/emails (I do both, to make more noise) to ceasing all ICE operations immediately and indefinitely, until that agency shows us they can follow the constitution and that they have a legitimate mission. Also that the entire leadership that has turned them into an instrument of ethnic cleansing needs to leave government permanently and immediately.

I realize this is unrealistic, but I want the message conveyed that we've got to get all we can, and that whatever we get will not be enough on its own.

Also contacting state officials with the same ask but focusing just on our state.

PianoManSteve's avatar

Shoot for the stars…falling short lands you on the moon 😎🇺🇸

Seeing Homan surrender is absolutely a victory, but we’re very wary here, especially after they’ve announced plans to go after “agitators.” We’ll believe it when we see it! Keep your calls going, all!

PianoManSteve's avatar

Verify, THEN trust!

Michael G Baer's avatar

Now, indict Homan for the $50K cash bribe he took in 2024.

I'm so relieved for you Anne, and all of Minnesota. Stay vigilant.

Congratulations!!!

Following-up on the discussion on the SAVE act: Have you heard of COVI—the Cost of Voting Index? Political scientist Dr. Michael Pomante is one of the researchers behind this long-running effort to measure how easy—or difficult—it is to vote in each state. From 1996 to 2024, the Index has tracked changes in state election laws, including voter registration policies, ID requirements and more. Texas has been in the bottom group for almost 3 decades. Wisconsin ranked 4th in the nation in 1996 for ease of voting. By 2024, it had fallen to 46th. (See figures in the article co-authored with Dr. Pomante.)

We research state election practices and their real-world impact on voters, and our latest post highlights what COVI reveals. Most voters have no idea how their state compares—or how dramatically the rules may have shifted over time. The impact is real - 88 million eligible voters didn't vote in November 2024.

Colleen's avatar

Thank you for this info! My state falls at about the middle but slightly positive. This is a great tool!

Lisa Iannucci's avatar

Wow, I do a ton of advocacy on this and had never heard of COVI!! Thanks so much for sharing this invaluable info!
