The unilateral bombing of Iran is disgusting but one silver lining is that Shaheed drones will not be delivered to Russia. I don't think Russian drones work too well.
I'm so glad to finally have been able to watch this entire video. And again, I am grateful that you partner with Stuart Stevens and the Lincoln Project. It is going to take all of our combined resources to fight Trump/MAGA. Trump/MAGA follow Putin's playbook, which bodes ill for our troops because Putin views his troops as cannon fodder. Trump will do the same. This is an enormously frustrating moment. If "Republicans" still think they are playing politics as usual, then they are beyond naive. Giving them credit for naivety is probably a gift. They are playing for Putin and for the oligarchs, not for America. It does not surprise me that Zelensky is more popular in America than is Trump. Zelensky has a soul and he is courageous. Plus he is supported by courageous Ukrainians who are actively fighting for their country and their lives. Too many Americans still see this as a reality TV show, which it is not. God love Kamala Harris for saying the hard part out loud, "Putin is a genocidal maniac. He will eat you for lunch." Release the damn Epstein files and lets see which other monsters who pretend to be "leaders" and above the law are there. This is what evil looks like and we have to stare it down. Take the masks off now.
My grandparents also came to America from Kamianets-Podilskyi in 1890, and I visited the town 10 to 15 years ago. It is a walled city on a cliff overlooking an oxbow of a river, accessible by land only over a narrow ridge. Most of the buildings were disassembled by the Soviets to use to make buildings on collective farms around the town, but they had plans to rebuild the core of the city exactly as it was. We stayed in an inn called Getman or Hetman, which was the term that the Kossacks used to describe their leader. The walls of the stairway were covered with oil paintings of Kossask chiefs.
Excellent discussion. We are fighting the wrong war against Iran. All of our ships, planes, soldiers, and weapons should be in Ukraine. Shame, shame, shame.
There are reasonable observations floating around that the rash Trump now has on the back of his neck is a pre-cancerous skin condition (typical for his outside pastimes, his age, and skin type).
The cream he's sporting is a sort of chemotherapy.
As is said in Yiddish (English here): "May he give it all away to doctors."
It’s actually Putin’s plan ..DT is far too stupid and addle brained to have any plan! The main reason for attacking Iran and Venezuela is to raise the price of oil! thereby funding Putin’s war on Ukraine! That is why Witcoff and Kushner were meeting with MBS in Saudi Arabia and Putin in Moscow. They all want high priced oil! Not peace negotiations. These windfall Russian oil profits will fund Putin’s war machine. Putin is now drafting soldiers and will start building his own drones with this blood oil money.
Thank you for this conversation Simon. Thank you so much Stuart for your committed support of Ukraine and your willingness to call out the Republican Party for its abandonment of conservative values. I would love a return to the "old days" when I would have passionate debates about policy with my conservative colleagues.
Election report from NC: Current leader of the NC state senate, Phil Berger, who has amassed a ton of power over time he has been in office and who has done untold damage to the state, faced a (more?) MAGA challenger, Rockingham County sheriff Sam Page. As of right now, Sam Page is ahead of Berger by TWO votes! This is going to be fascinating to watch. A lot of independents who will support the Democrat in the general election chose the GOP ballot to help vote Berger out. But is Page better? And how will this play out in a run off, which will bring out fewer voters?
This was a great discussion with Stuart. It made me think about going to Ukraine to do what he is doing. I have thought about it before. We really need to double down on support for Ukraine. I have gone through two Ukrainian flats on my house and I need to buy yet another. I have no Ukrainian ancestry, but they are an inspiration for all of us.
It’s always wonderful when you have a conversation with Stuart. I’ve commented here previously that our Democratic leaders long ago needed to stand publicly with Zelensky. When Trump and Vance had their embarrassing meeting with Zelensky in the WH, our legislative leaders should have invited Zelensky, stood with him, and said they would do everything they could to help Ukraine. They did not. Now is the moment, and perhaps the last opportunity to do it. They need to be holding pressers to stand against Trump against the war in Iran and working in both houses to sanction Russia in order to defend Ukraine. Just as you said.
TRUMP HAS NO ANSWER FOR "AFFORDABILITY", the major issue come November
True, Trump keeps distracting us from what most likely will be the most important issue for the voters. He could somehow muddle thru with Iran, Epstein. ICE as the issues but let's take the lead in what affects people the most. It's now known as affordability. The Democrat leaders say so, but that's all they say.
Why don't they get into some details which go a long way to really help with this problem. The news is surely out there.
First, there is a rising utility bill. My daughter pays less than half what I pay even with her a/c on all summer in Las Vegas simply because she has solar panels installed. Anybody with a house can do this. In China, some areas get it free they have so much. But I can't. I'm not Chinese.
I drive an EV and save 2k/year over gas cars. No worries about oil, water, smog and other parts. The rest of the world is plowing ahead with EVs while we are showing little sales increase. AND, they are fast. Ford realized their mistake of not producing a small or midsize EV. That will be history in 2 years. They will be "back".
For the East Coast and hopefully more of us later, it's offshore wind power which is constant, cheaper than any other form of power and polution free. Trump is
trying to stop it to keep his fossil fuels friends happy, but he's losing.
I'm probably missing some new great stuff and don't know about food costs much but the problems are solvable. Someone tell us how food prices can come down.

This was an all-too-brief (understandably) video but a great conversation.
Thanks.
Um, question: Anyone think Trump's hair today looks almost --- pink?
Or is that the computer screen I'm watching some of the WH pressers on?
He's doing less of the orange hair dye these days.
Stuart stevens is a moral compass
