Your discussion with Reed Galen at the Lincoln Project was fabulous, eye opening for me.

Quibble. “Video of Tom Bonier and I talking about the 2022 elections and the red wave which never came.” Should be “of Tom Bonier and me.” Let’s not give up our objective pronouns.

Thank you. I have had to port over an incredible amount of text from my previous sites and some of it didn't make it without error. Will correct.

Thank you for putting all this info in one place; got signed up for a lot of great events . Your podcast with reed Galen inspired me; I decided to go ahead and take the chair job for my (currently less than organized) precinct. Hoping to turn NC back to team blue!

I am very scared by the looming climate disasters and the rise of authoritarianism. But do you know what scares me even more? The lack of an easily-accessible font of clear messaging from the Democratic Party for me to use in convincing my neighbors that the Democrats are fighting for them.

Articles? Sure. Videos? Sure. I can find things to text or post to my friends. What I cannot find are crisp, clear messages for me to use to build a strong precinct organization.

Precincts are probably the most under-used infrastructure in America. Our Democratic precinct organizations can be the base for reaching every potential voter with compelling messages that build the Democratic brand.

A strong precinct will inspire people to get involved in democracy on a regular basis, create a feeling of community, and be an agile organization that accomplishes a variety of important outreach tasks. Such an organization will give people hope for change and will celebrate achievements. An added benefit is that it could be activated in inevitable future emergency circumstances.

In our precinct here in Durham, North Carolina, we are beginning a campaign to leaflet every doorstep every month with a simple, short message about how the Democrats differ from the Republicans on what they are doing in the state capital and in Washington on specific issues of concern to our neighbors. For weeks, we have been searching for a source of talking points to plug into our leaflets. We have been reduced to coming up with talking points on our own based on reading a lot of articles online. This is unsustainable.

County parties and precincts need a regularly-updated menu of crisp, clear talking points on a variety of issues that they can choose as appropriate for their neighborhoods.

If the Democratic Party is not capable of providing its members at the grassroots level with cut-and-paste, crisp messaging that can fit on one page and be read by every American, we are lost.

On the other hand, armed with this information, we can create communities of active Democrats in every precinct engaging their neighbors in voting for Democrats. This is our only hope for mitigating the effects of climate change and defeating authoritarianism.
