I too am concerned about the pressure being put on Harris to fire Lina Khan.

I agree. In my view, that's a big reason why Biden has been such a great president.

PERSPECTIVE

In just this last week, more than 170,000 Americans have volunteered to help the Kamala Harris Campaign score a victory for American democracy in November. To put that in historical perspective, that’s about the same number of anti-Fascists that landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day!

Expand full comment

A double inspiration...

It is so inspiring to see how Kamala Harris has Democrats and Americans all fired up. At the same time, I cannot deny that it’s deeply satisfying to watch the spontaneous combustion of the Trump-Vance Campaign and their MAGA acolytes.

One more thing: The Christo-Fascists claim to be Christian. They’re no such thing! The real Jesus is too woke for them. Here is their "Republican Jesus":

Loved hearing from Hakeem Jeffries. What a special opportunity! Thank you, Simon. Let’s all give something to the Winning the House campaign today as a thank you. I just donated! Every donation makes a difference.

Hakeem Jeffries told us that Kamala is a messenger with a message and she is meeting the moment to gain momentum to WIN. That's quite an alliteration! I'm feeling the hopium!

And this is how Kamala, the messenger with a message, meets the moment to build momentum, by branding Iowa’s new etreme abortion legislation as "Trump’s Abortion Ban".

New momentum is now a freight train barreling against a criminal seeking the nuclear codes; a grifter after a platform from which to grift. Selling national secrets was his plan. He is a crook.

Moving into offense against totalitarianism was what happened on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Eisenhower went all in. His assault on the Normandy beaches was protected by dropping the 82nd on the right flank and the 101st on the left flank. The momentous assault was successful, but a huge coordinated counterattack was to be expected: the Battle of the Bulge. We must also expect a counterattack from the criminal. What will a criminal do? Expect the worst. We can counter if we are ready.

“Offense!” must be more than just a catch phrase. We must empower our offense with direct action rather than “Ho hum, let’s just keep on.” What might I ask are we doing differently? How did we up our game? We cannot say, “Uuh, nothing.”

Ours is now a powerful freight train the likes of which has never been seen. We must right now add more engines and more rail cars: Expand the battleground area; add more leaning House districts and vulnerable Senate seat states to this battleground; drain the opposition of its meager resources; exploit our ground game advantage by adding more resources; donate on a monthly basis. Bankrupt the other party now by adding demonstrably more momentum to the current momentum. The torch passed held a good fire atop it. Feed this fire.

The Leader had a good line about the profoundly weird VP choice of Vance… suggesting that Trump might check to see if Sarah Palin might be available? Dan Quayle, maybe?

I have heard a lot from people like the Lincoln Project about how the Trump campaign’s singular message of “Joe Biden is too old” is now both irrelevant to their opponent and unfortunately points the finger back at the fact that their own candidate would be even older than Biden is now over the course of his second term. But I haven’t heard about how the Harris candidacy obliterates whatever vitality was left in the “Let’s Go Brandon” crowd of grassroots supporters. For whatever reason, here in Appalachian Ohio, Trump supporters don’t fly Trump flags nearly as often as “Fuck Biden” flags. To this hypermasculine crowd, it’s clever (?) and “cool” in that it portrays an image of macho, Dukes of Hazzard-style rebels against authority rather than unquestioning devotees of a New York real estate developer who wears more makeup than their wives do. People who regard themselves as outlaws are way more comfortable saying “fuck you” to politicians than they are saying “thank you.” I saw one of these guys driving around in his truck with a “Fuck Biden” flag just yesterday. No doubt they will soon redirect their rage against Kamala and make flags saying “Fuck Harris” or something, but it won’t be the same. The “Let’s Go Brandon” thing was a product of that whole spontaneous event-turned-meme at the NASCAR rally back in 2021 and it felt organic. They don’t have anything like that for her. It won’t have the same power when they try to replicate it artificially and it won’t have the quality of a rebel yell aimed against the person currently in power. In short, the identity of rural Trump voters is so tied up with their blood-boiling hatred of the man who “stole the election” from him in 2020 that it won’t be easy to flip the switch and get on a new message. Their most visible sign of grassroots support was already stale and brittle and is now obsolete. It’s another sign of how little MAGA has done to expand the base or change the losing formula even one iota since 2016, when voters in the 18-20-year-old bracket were still too young to see PG-13 movies.

You are so right! And maybe the deflation of their Fuck Biden, crap will kill their urge to vote.

Thanks for the terrific call with Speaker Jeffries this morning, Simon. Can you clarify if he said the House slogan is "4 More in 24" or "4 More for 24". I'd like to use it as a hashtag but want to make sure I have it right. Thank you for all YOU and the Hopium Community are doing to ensure a huge win in November.

I also use “bat-shit crazy” to characterize Trump and his band of misfits.

He’s also “evil.” That so-called “Christian” evangelicals worship him is a terrifying head-scratcher. Trump separated thousands of terrified children from desperate parents showing up for help and mercy at the Border. “Christians” understand the directive of .. how to treat the least of these.

Trump has boasted: “I love money; I love money; I love money.”

A time-tested axiom from scripture informs: “the love of money is the root of all evil.”

“Christians” should resist, reject and renounce evil - not embrace evil.

I got into an interesting discussion with a retired conservative Lutheran pastor a few months ago. Trump guy. I made the case that one cannot be a Christian and support Trump. I disarmed him. Can’t change minds… but you connect dots to make them see how ludicrous their “faith” is … all the inconsistencies and contradictions

I think sometimes a person hangs on to their "beliefs" like a drowning person to a life vest. If they were to suddenly realize what they have believed is total nonsense and lies, then maybe everything about their lives has been built on a house of cards. Basically, they are just dumb sheep, no getting around that. These people have always existed and now that they tasted a little attention and power, they would rather die than admit wrong and give it up. My doctor said in 2017 that 30% of people throughout history have been stupid. Shocking but true.

Y'all, my 17-year-old and I volunteered at two events yesterday here in Durham, NC and the interactions we had were ELECTRIC! 90 people signed up for the first event to learn more about volunteering. At the second event we canvassed a high-traffic event and ran into two other groups also registering voters while we signed up volunteers. There were a couple of skeptics so we spread Hopium and told them not to obey in advance. 80 percent of those we spoke to signed up to volunteer.

We are energized in NC and once again thank you all for helping us. We are not letting up and will work harder than ever to maximize our advantage on offense! LFG!!!

I donated to the “ 4 million” Initiative being done in NC. 💃🏻The adoption by MA and the 3 other groups in this coalition are so inspiring. AINC ( All In For NC) send notices out about the work being done. It sounds like your state is a beehive of Democratic activity by both local and other states volunteers descending on you. If NC doesn’t flip I’ll be shocked; it won’t be for a lack of determined worker bees! All my best to you for success!💃🏻💃🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸 if you win we all win🙌🏻

Simon, what a fantastic zoom call with you and Leader Jeffries!!! Was great to be together and share the joy!!! You both made me laugh with your irreverence about maga weirdness and batshit craziness...all true!!! And I love the Thursday night activism group get-together...what a great idea. I feel like we just boarded a plane that's taken off and we don't yet know just how fast and powerful the engine is, but we're about to find out...and we are here for it!!!

Thank you so much for being such an inspirational coach through all this—for your honesty, clearheadedness, wisdom, and patience. I just mailed 200 postcards to Michigan to register voters, finished 100 PCs to Wisconsin to GOTV in Oct, and await 200 PCs to PA (excellent suggestion, thank you!). I'd like to shoot for more, so hope to attend the first Thursday zoom.

I have to share what A.B. Stoddard said recently on a Bulwark podcast that I just love and feel it too: "I'm up in the K-hive and not coming down; I'm high on coconut power, and it just feels so good to feel good..." 💙🥥🌴
