Speaking of Thom Hartmann, here is an article where he reviews some key historical shenanigans, as well as outright Republican treason! It’s a real eye-opener. I knew most but not all of this.
What I do miss in Hartmann’s article are his suggested solutions – in other words, a healthy dose of *Hopium*. Fortunately, I am confident that Simon will come with a solid supply of just that when he is interviewed by Thom Hartmann. (At my time of writing, that’s less than an hour away.)

I would add two names to that: Newt Gingrich and Leonard Leo.

Perhaps we need a monthly counter poll rating how well AG Salzberger and Joe Kahn are doing publishing "All the news that's fit to print" on President Biden.
The SCOTUS needs to be balanced (not packed). Congress changed the number of justices five times before settling on nine in 1864 when the population was 40 million. To get the same ration today would require 30 justices (Check my arithmetic!).
Think how much the case backlog would be reduced if we had even fifteen judicial districts, and how much less it would matter that John Roberts is weak and ineffective if there were fifteen justices.
Love how well Simon reviews the daily happenings in politics and puts it all in a larger context. Of course, like most of y’all I’m simply terrified of Trump part 2. My parents are Irish so I hear from my Irish cousins all the time: they are just utterly boggled that Trump isn’t in jail, let alone a highly viable candidate. We all have to focus on the fight that’s before us. Still, Trump has already done immense damage to this country and the simple fact that he’s leading slightly or at least remains a viable candidate in and of itself indicates how far we as a nation have fallen. That said, no time now for navel-gazing; we have to ensure Trump be soundly defeated in November.

One thing gets lost in the reports about yesterday’s chaotic committee meeting and MTG’s low-class insults. As AOC points out, Democrats had seven amendments to the bill about holding Merrick Garland in contempt. Those amendments never got voted on!

Simon, have you connected w M Steven Fish? He offers compelling suggestions for engaging our base. Perhaps, you might consider his perspective as an approach going forward .
Trump has been goading Biden into debating but Trump never thought that Biden would lay out conditions like this and his narcissism prevented him from saying no to those conditions. We'll see if Trump debates Biden under those conditions set forth by Biden. Trump is into performative politics where he needs a crowd to prop him up to debate Biden. Just like Trump needed republican crowd to hold his hand at the trial to prop him up there. I call him snowflake. He is weak unless he has support. He loves the yelling, hooting and hollering his supporters provide. Otherwise I don't think he is capable of debating Biden. Also he interrupted Biden 145 times in 2020 but with the mikes turned off he will have trouble yelling what he has to say. He will likely eventually say he didn't agree to the debates with those conditions and cancel.
Also Chuck Todd didn't want to work with Rhonda exhead of the RNC at MSNBC but why did MSNBC put Donald Trump on Meet the Press. Its hypocritical. They legitimized him putting him on Meet the Press. Of Course CNN is worse by allowing Republicans to lie thru their teeth on the air about Trump.
George Stephanopolis said before he interviews someone on TV he will ask them who won the 2020 election and if Biden is not mentioned, he will cut off the interview

I would love to take our flag back from these traitors. I want to display the American Flag at my home and not have people be afraid that ‘I’m one of those nuts’… They co opted out flag, let’s take it back!
I have 2 flags - one at the end of my driveway, the other at the gate to my house. I will add Biden Harris signs later in the summer so it's clear what the flags mean.
Theres another reason clinton lost the election in 2016 that not many are talking about. Bernie Saunders and his supporters broke for Trump to get elected. Otherwise we would have a liberal leaning supreme court not the unholy mess we have now.
I live in Portland. I'm a centrist Democrat. Many of my neighbors who supported Bernie did not vote in 2016. They told me that in their view Hillary was the same as Trump. Now that I have read the Mueller Report and other books about Russian propaganda, I would know better how to engage them. In my view, we're all wiser about how bad actors are trying to divide us. I believe this is why Bernie conceded much earlier in the 2020 election. More than Bernie, I feel it was Putin-stooge Jill Stein who upended the blue wall. She sees it differently, but I don't believe her.
The recent news about Justice Alito is concerning. I wondered whether this came to light now because 2 major cases relating to Jan. 6 are soon to be decided by SCOTUS. It’s upsetting but at least we can see what’s happening.
Someone (like Alito’s neighbors) who obviously hates him (like the rest of us) decided to post the picture before the election when it would make the most impact. I actually gasped at that picture, it screams Alito and Thomas must go.
