2028 Democratic US presidential primary (New Hampshire)
🟦Pete Buttigieg 25%
🟦AOC 17%
🟦Jon Ossoff 12%
🟦Mark Kelly 12%
🟦Gavin Newsom 7%
🟦Kamala Harris 3%
🟦Cory Booker 2%
🟦JB Priztker 2%
🟦Ro Khanna 2%
🟦Rahm Emanuel 2%
🟦Josh Shapiro 1%
🟦Wes Moore 1%
🟦Andy Beshear 1%"
A huge jump for Ossoff. He was at 2% in this poll in June, now jumped to 12%. This is a very good thing. It sends a message to other ambitious Democrats that they need to be like Ossoff, prosecuting the case against Trump and being bigger.
Thanks for the info. I see that this is a nonpartisan, reliable and academic poll by "Saint Anselm College Survey Center based on online surveys of 1411 New Hampshire likely voters. Surveys were collected between August 17th and 18th, 2026, from cell phone users randomly drawn from a sample of registered voters reflecting the demographic and partisan characteristics of the voting population."
LOVE Jon Ossoff!! And I agree that he's an excellent role model for others. I just would hate to lose him as a senator in a still-very-red-but-turning-purple state like GA. Either way, we're so fortunate to have such a talented and widespread bench, all across the country, and on every level.
Would like to win 2026 before looking at the next presidential campaign. Way too much media focus on "horse race" polls and stories, in my view. The 2028 landscape will look a lot different if we win the House and Senate this year. That's where my focus is.
I'm really looking forward to hearing Simon's discussion with Tom Bonier on Tuesday about polling for the 2026 general mid-term elections.
I'm also enjoying the Politico article Simon mentioned today. "Democrats put Trump’s ‘corruption’ front and center as they plan possible 2027 probes. Planning for a potential majority, House committee leaders say they are staying focused on 'the president and the family.' "
Great info, Simon, thank you!! So glad you made it safely, and hope your luggage arrived, too.
Just fyi, in NH, Pappas is running against John, not Chris Sununu (thankfully). So relieved that he's comfortably ahead. Three points ahead made me nervous.
I'm so upset about Haitians being kicked off TPS and deported. I have written my (all Dem) congressman people and not sure what else to do re:this specifically. Haitians will die being sent back to Haiti, and they do important work here in the USA. It's just so disgusting, as is the whole anti-immigrant Trump agenda. Including the for-profit internment camps run by the government paid for by us the taxpayers, enriching what are most likely Trump cronies and making immigrants suffer. It's awful.
OMG I love that ad from Crowley! He did a great guest shot on Psaki's show, and other candidates have been popping in there. Looking forward to Tom B., the data guy!
I just jumped off the voter helpline w VoteRiders, numbers have increased dramatically and will continue to do so as we head into midterms. Most calls coming from GA, TX & AZ. VoteRiders are prolly adding Alabama to the list of focus states for the fall, which means at some point VR will be staffing up on the ground.
Working on the postcards, and waiting for info on our Hopium plan. Safe travels to Simon's luggage! Keep going!
And thank you for the link to Haile Sofer's piece about El Sayed. I'm glad I don't live in Michigan. I really want a Dem senate but i am turned off by his bad takes on Jews and I/P, especially his comments on the terror attack against the Jewish preschool in MI. And why doesn't he jettison that creep Piker? It just makes me question El Sayed's judgement. Sigh.
United is the worst, Simon! We have had our nightmares with them. Looking at tickets to Ireland with them, as they have a really good flight plan from Portland, Maine, but you are reminding me of my past horrors. Have a wonderful vacation and I hope your luggage comes soon. You have continued to work so hard, even on your breaks! I am sure I can speak for all of us who appreciate your incredible contributions daily. Rest up!
I am really looking forward to Simon's talk with Tom Bonnier. They are a great team. The polls seem fantastic, but I am trying not to depend on them. I especially love seeing Chris Pappas looking strong in New Hampshire. No more Sununus!
Mainer on the ground - The Dem coordinated campaign has been bringing out the peeps. We had over 700 on a call last week for canvassing. Troy Jackson is continuing to introduce himself to Maine, and he finally got a $1.3 million influx of ad support from the new Government Works For Us pac. He needs it. He just got a campaign manager, and is officially kicking off his campaign on labor day. He has mostly used his ad buys to introduce himself to Mainers. Online he has more attack types of content. Troy has a daunting task as Maine is innundated with never ending ads dehumanizing him and airing non-stop glowing platitudes for Collins. Her ads are truly nauseating.
Collins has hundreds of millions of dollars behind her. Pacs are paying out of staters to knock door to door everywhere throughout the state. One canvasser threatened to call ICE on a well known black musician in Portland. Disturbing. Maine Newsroom reports on this surge of canvassers invading our state.
Collins is everywhere. There are ads on continuously telling us to thank her because she apparently she has single handedly performed miracles throughout government bringing money, health care, helping vets, probably curing cancer, maybe even putting out forest fires by herself. These ads are incredibly obnoxious. She is mostly playing good cop. Her pacs are attacking Troy at every level. They are sinister and full of distortions and lies. The "best" one is accusing him of somehow helping his son earn $200,000 as a lobbyist. Should we tell them about Collins's husband, Tom Daffron, the defense contractor lobbyist whom benefits from her votes and confirmations? He also works for the chair of the biggest pac, Pine Tree State, behind the most vicious and non stop attack ads.
Collins began her "All of Maine" tour in her million dollar bus. Maine media reports on this daily. She brings a throng of red shirt loyalists on the bus who fawn over her for the cameras, and keeps the plebians from getting near and asking questions. This is the only time she enters the public arena. She did this 6 years ago as well. It is all scripted and staged. Her sickening sweet fake smile is truly hard to stomach. You can read about it here.
Two pieces of good news. The DCCC just began supporting our ME CD -2 Congressional candidate Matthew Dunlap. He is running against our former governor Paul LePage, a 77 year old hateful bigot who is like the plague and keeps returning from Florida to haunt us. He was favored to win, but the DCCC is investing in Matt which is GREAT, so perhaps polling suggests LePage is not a shoe in.
Another piece of good news is that the DNC voted against their 45 person rules committee's proposal to ban ranked choice voting (RCV) for candidates in the presidential election. RCV was voted in by the people, twice, and has been helpful in ensuring third party candidates are not spoilers. LePage was voted in with only 38% of the vote before RCV. It was a disaster for our state. In any case, Dems, Unerolleds and Indies were outraged that the DNC was considering this proposal which would have prevented our RCV elected delegates from being seated at the presidential convention. It is Maine law and would have caused a nightmare for the state. It infuriated dems and indies who are already upset with the "DNC meddling" by putting up Governor Mills. Alaska, Texas, New Hampshire and a few other states would have been affected by this new rule. Our Maine team with the help of our party chair, Charlie Dingman, did a great job helping this outcome. PHEW! Mainers really do not want out of staters controlling our politics. In any event, RCV is fantastic. Here is some info about it.
I am trying to stay positive about the senate race here in Maine. The amount of anti-Jackson/pro-Collins media smothering and assaulting us is terribly disheartening, and really annoying. My 90 year old father keeps calling screaming about Collins lying after he sees an ad, of which there are hundreds a day. I truly hope Maine follows the rest of the nation in rejecting Trump enablers. We need cancerous Collins gone.
Looking forward to our weekly zoom. I missed the last one Simon held while he was in Texas. Take care everyone.
Simon, I love the Polls! Congress and the Senate! And, I am so Proud of all the Candidates that Won in the Primary. They're hard work was phenomenal, and looking forward to All of them Winning their Seats November 3rd!
Simon, I hope you received your luggage by now, and can relax and enjoy the rest of your Vacation!
Thanks for the link to Ken Martin's latest update. I understand that people have differing views about Martin as DNC Chair and, since no one is perfect, I'm sure there are things that need improving. But I think he's on the right track in terms of year-round Party building and LISTENING to voters/potential voters all the time--not just during campaign season. Listening builds trust; trust builds an opening for learning more about Ds and their candidates; learning more means a whole different group of voters are open to casting their ballots for our candidates.
Posted this on our Demicratic Socialist page, but wanted to share on today's article as well... I found this video, explaining the differences between Progressives, Social Democrats (a designation I would like more Dems to claim), and Democratic Socialists, very informative, and also inspiring. No matter what label our candidates use, we need them to win!
Simon I would love to hear your thoughts on the chances of Adam Hamilton (Kansas) taking on Roger Marshall.

It is very, very early. That said, my favorites are Ossoff and Beshear. Picking a successful Democrat from a Southern state to me has a big upside.

I think Ossoff will be the candidate to beat. He is truly an impressive human being. I love Buttigieg and Beshear also.

Enjoy your time with family!
Easy mistake to make, but John Sununu is running in my home state for Senate against Pappas, not his brother Chris.

Your *vacation appears to be going well…

I’m writing postcards and called my Republican members today: Haitian refugees, Trump’s latest vanity projects, corruption, and supporting Ukraine.
