Simon, I completely agree. We have to stay on our playbook and not get too distracted by theirs. Our facts are superior, and they (GOP) aren’t doing much if anything to improve the lives of their voters.

Love these tweets. So smart. Republicans hyperpolize all the time, we should too. A grammar nitpick - 10 year old girls giving birth to their rapists' babies. (move the apostrophe)

🤣let there be humor and still I applaud , that in our endless fight to stay true to the American Dream , lift our least bit by bit, we remember...togetherness is a gesture of friendship where we welcome ALL. For together we CAN accomplish what these tooled fools’ main objective is to smear and divide, scatter the union , dissolve dreams in damning disrupt.

We on the other hand trod the hallowed grounds , respecting the oaths, even acknowledging our past mistakes still working for an America leading , bettering a world in need.

Together, holding hands, welcoming , laughing and lifting.

My preference.

I applaud you providing a list of things we need to fear if the Trump agenda becomes reality. My son (33) said, while he despises Trump, he doesn't think his day to day will change that much should we have a Republican Administration. I wonder how many young (millennials) feel that way? Maybe it's just a coping mechanism for them? Existential may just be too scary and they've had to cope with a lot.

Susan, there is a deep normalization bias in our culture right now - it can't be that bad kind of thing. Those things don't happen here. But they do, and we need to be clear-eyed about it in our comms. Yes we have to sell Biden, job #1. But when we talk about them we need to bold, aggressive, truthful, muscular, unsparing.

If Trump wins it will almost certainly be the last American election your son votes in.

I would add to the list, “destroy the public’s faith in all of our collective institutions so that everyone feels completely isolated & cynical about society and the future”, “deliberately divide the public so that we look at each other as enemies”

Forcing women to have children and then cutting food assistance for pregnant women and children seems particularly diabolical. Who are these people!!

I would include MAGA’s support for violent extremist groups and domestic terrorism.

Fantastic list! I'd add that MAGA is fighting to end Social Security and Medicare.

So happy to know Joy is a member of the Hopium family! Here's hoping all her colleagues and viewers will follow suit!

Simon's 11 points about the R's objectives should be published in every newspaper listed in ads on tv and repeated on the radio.

This is a fantastic callout of the objectives of the Maga insurrectionists

who want to eradicate our Democracy and install a Fascist govt.

So happy to see Joy on board. She is a true patriot and I thank her for getting the message of Hopium out to her vast audience.

Loved your bullet points on the MAGA “platform” as I call it. I took the liberty to restack those points. Perhaps if people see the platform in writing it will begin to ring true with the noncommittal people out there. Each one of your points can be verified as truth! Keep up the great work!

Question... How can an impeachment inquiry into something Biden was alleged to have done when he was VP have any legitimacy now? Wouldn't it follow that any currently elected official could be impeached during his/her current tenure for alleged actions when she/he held a different office at a different time?

Great list!

The NY Times is relentless in its distorted and incorrect Biden coverage. Just today:

"Democratic Jitters* Grow, Biden Campaign Tries to Showcase His Vigor. "**

"Consistent Signs of Erosion in Black and Hispanic Support for Biden."

This makes Simon's efforts all the more vital to counter this. (with vigor)

Inspired by Simon and others, I've started a Substack, The Janovsky Report. Here's my initial post: https://peterjanovsky.substack.com/p/welcome-to-the-janovsky-report I hope my modest efforts to be an "information warrior" make some difference.

On young voting:

"Since about 2018, I’ve become convinced the key to preserving democracy here is awakening the huge electoral potential of young voters and have been writing about it in Daily Kos diaries, like "We Can Unleash the Sleeping Giant Waiting to Save Democracy in the United States." Four million people turn 18 every year, and they and their 18-29 cohort vote overwhelming for Democrats. I’ve been working with several groups, including The Civics Center, whose goal is to have a voter registration drive in every high school in the country."

Of course I will be linking and referencing Simon's posts frequently.

* Who are these Democratic "jitterers" anyway? Mark Penn? "unnamed aides"? Dick Morris?

**btw -- I haven't seen "vigor" in a headline or featured since Vaughn Meader did JFK talking about "Vigah" (I know, betraying my age)

Ignatius was among the most disingenuous “liberals” who credited Bush with idealistic motives for the Iraq War, so I don’t respect his judgment much. He and the other concern trolls fail to consider the complete cost benefit analysis of Biden running, primarily the advantages of incumbency and avoidance of a primary battle. Biden and Dems determined these factors favored him running. Any omission of these factors makes the view by Ignatius et al incomplete and simplistic

Yes! Well said. Additionally, disingenuous liberals in major media outlets like the NY Times seem to bend over backwards to demonstrate they can be equally hard on "both sides," even when the GOP and its lead candidates for the Presidency are objectively a threat to humanity.

After the GOP lost a second election to President Obama, they did an “autopsy” to determine what went wrong. They concluded they needed to do more to attract younger voters, minorities, women and college graduates. Then we got Trump and it all went out the window. Since 2016 the GOP has had no platform except support their new god king and work with American billionaires, Russia plutocrats and Saudi Arabian monarchs to subvert democracy. Simon, your list proves they finally have a platform. And boy howdy is it a disaster. I am now not just cheering for the GOP to lose, I am expecting their demise. And when they do the final autopsy, they will have nobody to blame but themselves.

For the longest time, there have been two camps. 1.) There are ‘welfare cheats’(or whatever, bureaucrats, etc.) and therefore, the entire program has to be trashed; and 2.) programs are basically good and should be preserved, for the greater good, despite the few, low percentage ‘cheaters’ (red tape problems, etc.). Let’s admit that nothing is perfect, that shortcomings need to be (and ARE being) addressed, and that the greater good far outweigh the inherent problems found in every large scale solution.

Additionally, Joy Reid's commentary last night on her trip to Ghana about the history of the slave trade and the Catholic Church's involvement is something everyone should see and this Christian nationalist agenda is very much part of the MAGA objective.

While I absolutely agree with what Simon has written, again I need to raise the alarm about Republican "dirty tricks". I was on a call yesterday evening with "Free Speech for People", a scrappy little non-profit that punches well above it's weight and has been successful in fighting voter suppression through law suits in a number of States. High on their radar and priority list right now is the breach of security around voting machines. Most voting machines by the two major manufacturers are vulnerable and will be used in the majority of states; MAGA operatives now have the ability to switch votes in key states. This security breach is one of the elements in the RICO suit in GA BUT the problem is far wider and the FBI is refusing to investigate unless individual states request intervention. This is a formidable threat to fair elections in 2024. Results of the election can be changed by bad actors (AKA MAGA operatives). We urgently need to find a way of stopping this.

Here are a couple of additional MAGA goals:

Strip workers of the right to organize.

Restore the power of the police to harass, and worse, people of color.
