Irene! Golly had I had seen this comment, I wouldn’t have wasted my typing this morning! Lol Keep up the good work! And what nice recognition from our Hopium&Chief !!!!
Thanks B.Johnson! I’ve been off a couple of weeks on family vacation so didn’t get back to you yet but absolutely not the case! I loved reading your “rambling” as you called it . That’s the way I pick up fresh ideas and resources. I’ve been a sponge about learnings all my life and I fully appreciate someone like you who has the patience and who is willing to take the time and share their ideas and thoughts. Never wasted and always appreciated 🙌🏻
Hi Simon - I signed up at $5 a month back in the very beginning (which of course ends up $60 annually). I like to be able to give a little more over the year and the smaller monthly expense is helpful to me. Is that rate still available?
Kate, when you hit 8 months at $5 message me and I will extend your membership so you end up paying that $40 annual rate for a bit more than a year. Appreciate your contribution to the community, and happy to make something work. Still learning my way through this.
It’s up to you of course, however if it’s in the computer for me to keep you five bucks a month I’m happy to leave it (unless it goofs up your bookkeeping!). I want to support you and this community the best way I can.
Hi Simon, we have thoroughly enjoyed your writings. I’ve sent your subscription letter to Spoutible.com. This is a place with people that really admire your work. I hope you consider becoming a Spouter! Thanks friend r your work.
Your subscriber's comments are so inspiring! I'm in a blue state, and am trying to do one small thing every day to move democracy forward. Sometimes it's giving a little donation if I can, sometimes it's promoting someone else's good work: usually yours, Democracy Docket, and/or Ben Wikler at WisDems. If each of us does even one small thing every day, wow.
Thanks so much for all the work you do, Simon, and for giving us this platform to connect on and such clear and hopium-ful goals to work at. Odd how connected I feel here, but very real.
Here is a link for Christopher Titas comedic interpretation of Why he is a Democrat. Bad language warning, but it is funny and worth sharing and makes complete sense to me.
“The organization, through a political action committee and super PAC, plans to recruit and support candidates under age 30 to run for state Legislatures, and candidates under age 35 to run for Congress.”
OMG Simon! What a great hit for YOU! He read it ALL out and ties it to HANNITY last week! Wow my mind is blown! You keep beating the drum Simon....it is catching on! CONGRATULATIONS
NOPE! I just am addicted to YT! Lol YOU have the receipts and the story to tell!!!! I am so proud of you and Hopium! I hope this gets you a bump in subs and maybe an interview with Pakman or MTN! Very very very awesome! I stuck it on Pepper and Craven stacks to share. Spread it out everyone!
Thank you Simon. I was raised on a ranch so you’ll have to forgive my feedback: I’m as happy as my 4-H pig in mud here in Hopium Chronicles. I was looking for somewhere forceful, articulate and focused and feel so fortunate to have found HC. It has all these great people pulling together to save our democracy! Lots of wonderful people who give a damn and are working to stop all the crazy stuff or at least send them to their corner. I’m splashing around with lots of great ideas to read and lots of specific resources to help get to my goals. And positivity too! I was tiring of the gloom and doom. BTW: I raised a lamb too but pigs in mud were much happier, social creatures.

I hope I'm in the right place to tell you what I'm doing. I also live in a Blue state, MA. I have found myself being the Lead Organizer for our small local Swing Left / Indivisible group. Our group has voted to support NY19 in 2023-2024, just over the border from us, in going blue again. We want to help defeat Rep Molinaro. This summer we've been registering new voters (sometimes we can target only Dems to register, and we're using the Field Team 6 methodology to register Dems) in NY19. So far, we've had 12 members volunteer to register voters. I've gone out twice. I phone bank when there is something good to phone bank for. My last phone bank volunteering time was for the Ohio August Special Election. I have also been postcard writing this summer to Ohio and VA voters. I'll canvass in NY19 when we have an official candidate or for Josh Riley's NY primary election.
I'm also the Chair of my small town's Dem Committee. I'll be attending the MA State Democratic Convention in Sept.
I'm one of the people who "woke up" after you know who was the Republican nominee in 2016, and was in despair. Friends told me to start doing something, and I started canvassing for Hillary in the fall of 2016 in PA. (At that time I was living in NJ.) I've been active ever since.
Thank you for all you do! I love your positive outlook! If we keep working hard to get out the vote, we can elect Democrats! I'm so glad I was referred to you recently!
There is actually another site Simon has opened up for your type of information. I mention that here bc it sounds like great work and ( IMO) needs to be part of that larger forum. You’ll find the site dated later and listed as sharing community ideas.
Was a free subscriber and just subscribed on the $5/month plan. You do good work, Simon. Glad you had such a nice overseas vacation! I'm having cataract surgeries, that's my "vacation."
Our local NAACP organized a MLK, Jr. march to commemorate (and continue) the 60th anniversary of his March on Washington in late August and have been making calls around the country all year for Swing Left Alliance and Grassroots Democrats HQ. Also precinct chair and helped get signatures for a city council candidate.
Simon, you have 2 options under your subscriptions: $45 or $1000. It be helpful for those of us who wish to give more to have a few extra tiers.
Robert, at this point Substack only gives us these 3 tiers. Let me check in with them and see what they say. And thank you! S

What is the name of the group in AZ working to set up youth voter registration drives in every high school--the one Irene mentioned?
This amazing org - https://www.cebv.us/.
Thank you!

Don't be afraid of posting negative news (for Democrats) when and if it happens. Keep up the good work.
