On the topic of National Public Health Week and RFK Jr killing kids and wrecking our healthcare institutions, Dr. Timothy Holtz and I wrote this op ed, published in Newsweek this am. https://www.newsweek.com/potentially-fatal-start-robert-f-kennedy-jrs-leadership-hhs-opinion-2056567

Terrific. Teri, I am so glad to see your letter!. I was shocked that qualified physicians in the Senate voted to confirm RFK Jr. These senators should hang their heads in shame:

– Bill Cassidy (R, Louisiana)

– Roger Marshall (R, Kansas)

– John Barrasso (R, Wyoming

– Rand Paul (R, Kentucky)

I was shocked until I heard Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth speak in person to hundreds of us at a gathering, 3 weeks into the new Fascist regime. She told the crowd that 4 Senators were set to vote against RFK Jr. But Musk threatened to pour millions into their primary opponents, so they changed their votes to yes. She did not name the senators. Of course this was before Musk's millions backfired in Wisconsin. She (and the other electeds there) said how much it meant to all of them that we were behind them in the fight. Let's contact them and show our gratitude!

The GOP Senators have no honor, no integrity, and no accountability. 2 kids and an adult are now dead from a communicable preventable disease. Many lie in hospital beds, in critical condition due to liver toxicity from RFK Jr's nonsensical recommendations. Thousands of our brightest and best scientists, researchers and healthcare providers have had their clinical studies disrupted and careers devastated. How much more carnage are they willing to stand by in silence and accept?!

The cruelty actually seems joyful. Power and fear and willful ignorance--we are in deep trouble. But we can only do our part----powerful, fact-based letters such as yours, continuing to resist financially, with our communities, and with our very lives (although I pray it doesn't come to that...) As one of the best posters at the Chicago rally I attended said, "I don't want to tell my children and grandchildren that I stayed silent when it counted the most."

I wrote to Sen. Cassidy before the "confirmation hearings" about how he was instrumental in getting Heb B vaccines for newborns back when. I reminded him of his oaths to the profession and the Constitution. He is a disgrace and now seems to know it.

I just read your outstanding letter. Thank you. I also noticed that Newsweek gives readers an opportunity to decide whether an article is trustworthy or not. Hmm. That makes no sense. I rated yours as very trustworthy but noticed that your letter itself has probably been spammed by the very audience that follows RFK Jr. So get in there, Hopium people! Let’s lift up truth and science for Teri. Just click on the link and scroll to the bottom of the article.

Have y'all seen this: https://www.citizensimpeachment.com/ AKA Operation Anti-King

A former senate COS is running a project to get every representative in the USA to comment on whether they support impeachment, and they've even drafted Articles of Impeachment. I wrote out to my MoC and I'm waiting for a reply as part of the project. Here's their draft first Article of Impeachment:

Article of Impeachment

H. RES _____

RESOLVED, that Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following article of impeachment be exhibited to the Senate:

ARTICLE I: TYRANNY

In his conduct of the office of President of the United States, Donald J. Trump has committed High Crimes and Misdemeanors, in that:

He has, by his actions and statements, sought to establish himself as tyrant, dictator, and autocrat over the People of the United States, usurping unto himself the constitutional powers of Congress, the courts, and the States, and powers illegitimate and beyond the scope of lawful government altogether.

He has claimed for himself absolute and arbitrary power, the ability to suspend laws at whim, and utterly disregarded and betrayed his oath to faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.

He has denied and violated the right of the People of the United States to free and fair elections, including by bribery of voters, fraud and extortion of election officials, harassment and intimidation of election workers, and unconstitutionally ordering interference with the lawful administration of elections.

He has denied and violated the right of the People of the United States to freedom of speech, and of assembly, and to petition the government for redress of grievances, by embarking on a wide-ranging censorship campaign to punish his political opponents, chill opposition, and illegally retaliate against constitutionally protected speech, association, and expression.

He has denied and violated the right of the People of the United States to due process of law and equal protection of the laws, to fair and impartial independent courts, and to legal counsel as secured by the Fifth and Sixth Amendments.

He has sought to intimidate and coerce, by means including the threat of unlawful prosecutions and by encouraging violence and threats of violence, the Representatives and Senators in Congress.

He has repeatedly and intentionally threatened the Nation’s closest neighbors, allies, and friends with invasion, conquest, and annexation by military force, in violation of the constitutionally binding treaty obligations of the United States, and to the extraordinary detriment of national security and foreign relations, and constituting the “supreme international crime” of aggression.

He has denied and violated the separation of powers and the Constitution’s system of checks and balances, arrogating unto himself the legislative and judicial powers, including the power of Congress to levy taxes, appropriate public funds, direct the organization of officers and agencies of the executive branch, and to make laws.

He has sought to intimidate, coerce, and extort the officers of the several States, including those elected by the People thereof, and thereby sought to commandeer the several States, in violation of their sovereignty and the system of federalism established by the Constitution of the United States.

He has repeatedly and openly stated he intends to violate the presidential term limits established by the Twenty-Second Amendment, and adopted overtly monarchical aspirations and affectations, including by invocation and endorsement of theories that he is above the law or that his personal will constitutes the law.

By these actions and others, he has demonstrated his character is marked by every act which may define a tyrant, and thus he is unfit to the government of a free People. He has shown, beyond a reasonable doubt, his continuance in office is wholly incompatible with maintaining the Constitution of the United States as the supreme law of the land. He manifests daily his hostility and betrayal toward the rule of law, the sovereignty of the People, and any limits or constraints on his own power. He has sought to replace, in purpose and effect, the sacred oath of loyalty to the Constitution with an oath of loyalty to himself personally, and to his absolute, unchecked, despotic power.

In all of this, Donald J. Trump has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and his oath to the Constitution of the United States, and has committed the High Crime and Misdemeanor of attempting to establish himself as a lawless tyrant, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore Donald J. Trump, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.

I also left a message for Tony Gonzales to call out the tariffs. He’s been silent, too. They’re afraid of Trump’s voters.

I am glad Dems held a “shadow hearing” but I don’t at all like that phrase - it sounds like shady, illicit, or hidden. Rather, call them “sunlight hearings” because they are dragging all the horror into view.

I saw this poll in a Rachael Maddow clip: 52% of people do not identify with MAGA at all, and only 11% do. As far as actions, yesterday I submitted a letter to the editor for my local newspaper about the need to keep standing up as we did on Saturday, and submitted comments opposing anti-trans and anti-immigrant rule proposals at the federal level. This week I also plan to call my reps. I’ve also collected a few books on topics that MAGA is trying to erase to help preserve history (Harriet Tubman, Stonewall, Jackie Robinson, Black military history, etc).

Very disappointing that these individuals who carry the title "justice" chose to deny justice to an individual who was imprisoned without due process.

Andrew Weissman appeared in the final minutes of Lawrence O’Donnell last night. As I understand it, CJ Roberts issued a stay on the lower court’s decision but scheduled a SCOTUS hearing for Wed. Also, I believe the justices ruled 9-0 that the government must allow people time to prepare a legal response to the government’s effort to remove them. I may have details wrong here. But Weissman seemed fine with what Roberts did. He was extremely critical of the way the government deported someone with no hearing and now claims to be unable to get them back.

Michael Popok, a Meidas Touch podcaster who speaks on "all things law and justice" says it doesn't mean that Roberts or SCOTUS will rule against the decision that it was unconstitutional. What it did was eliminate the "Get him back to the States by midnight Monday (yesterday) or else." SO its procedural only.

This may have been the judge's strategy, which accelerated the case before the Supremes to consider. Popok thinks there may well be a ruling on the merits by the end of this week.

A NOTE ON USAID

It surprises me that the Gates Foundation or the Clinton Foundation didn’t recruit a handful of responsible billionaires to seize the moment and announce:

"We cannot allow the work of USAID to lapse. That is why we are committing ourselves and our personal resources to continuing its work in a new organization – which at the outset will employ all the good people currently working for USAID throughout the world. We invite charitable organizations and governments that value this humanitarian work to support this vital international effort."

I called both of my Republican Senators and my Republican Congressman yesterday to ask when they are going to do their jobs and take back the power of the tariff. I emphasized how stressful it is to watch your 401 Ks melt down.

The Senators’ offices never answer the phone but I left detailed messages. I called our local Congressional office and spoke to an aide there. You could tell she was very uncomfortable when she could do nothing to help, so she told me he would be having 3 town hall meeting in his district next week but the places had not been selected yet. I quickly called the local Democratic office, because they have asked people to call and ask for a town hall meeting and have weekly demonstrations at his office. They and others followed up with his office and asked if it was true there would be meetings. They were told, like I was, to watch his web site.

I plan to call the local newspaper today. We cannot let these people off the hook. We cannot take inaction for an answer. People with signs will be outside his office again tomorrow.
