Simon, it is truly extraordinary to see the level of vitriol MAGA is spewing at. Anderson. Clayton. It makes me so happy that she’s so effective and thank you so very much for bringing her to our attention

Women and minorities get attacked on social media at levels that are hard to comprehend....takes enormous courage to stay in the game with this stuff. I have some window into it all due to the anti-Semitic stuff I receive on Twitter in particular, which has exploded, and become more vile and brazen in recent months.

You would be amazed at the level of support Trump has amongst the senior Jewish community here in Southern Florida. I get into daily arguments at the pool. stay loud and proud and even louder since you help me information warrior. It is quite effective.

Try going on a fishing boat and the captain is flying the MAGA flag....but I don't back down. I can swim. Once I start catching all the fish they shut up anyway. Liberals aren't supposed to be outdoor types, right?

THIS is what makes me absolutely insane. It is true. I ask my dear Jewish friends hiw can they support someone who is so anti Semitic????? They say Oh that is just hie he talks or Biden is too old. I said Are you even paying attention??? Are you? Because clearly you are NOT.

Makes me crazy

Mention Tree of Life massacre as the anti-Semitic tropes from Trump and his allies were bought hook, line and sinker by the murderer at this synagogue.

Let me tell you how important NC is, as if you didn't already know. I am so pleased that my congressman, Wiley Nickel, voted in favor of the bill. But Nickel's time is running out because he has been gerrymandered out of his seat. It is now safely Republican and the TV ads for the two Rs contending for his seat are truly awful. People tell us there is no way a Dem can win...and they may be right...but we have got to try. One of our better "congress critters" is being run out of his seat and we must pull out all the stops to slow down the Republican takeover.

The only elections we are sure to lose are the ones we never contest!

Hopefully, the Democratic Party is now in the process of fully reviving Howard Dean’s Fifty-State Strategy – and this is long overdue.

Same for Jeff Jackson. There has to be a way to stop the gerrymandering in NC. I haven’t had any congressional representation in decades.

I am soon to be 80...a gay woman...retired teacher, illustrator & editor. I hope I am witnessing a major shift in how we perceive the Supreme Court so that a true overhaul will happen over time. The right wing has much too much power (that's destructive of the democracy that they are supposed to protect and honor.) Is there anything voters can do?

Vote in 💙 for WH, Senate & House. Then, demand expansion of SCOTUS by 4 more justices to match US Circuits. 13 in all. Biden appoints 4 justices 2025-2028. This can be done. Let's manifest this strategy, Marijane.

I don't have a great answer to your question, but...

As a younger bisexual person who has had my freedom to be myself be respected by law where I live for practically my entire adult life, I always make sure to thank my elders in the LGBT family for getting us here just by being themselves. It isn't said enough. And I always make sure to acknowledge teachers, who have been underappreciated and underpaid for too long but without whom we would be lost.

So that's two thank yous from me to you! Thank you. Thank you.

I’ve tried Mark Alford’s office 3x this morning. He’s my 4th District representative. Every time I got a recording to leave a message and every time it said, “sorry, the mailbox is full. Thanks for calling.”

Alford voted “nay” yesterday. ☹️

I can only hope his mailbox is full of people telling him to vote “yay” today. 💪💙

I got goosebumps reading your message.

Thank you so much for your service to the VA

I was a big advocate of getting veterans to get what they earned and were entitled to.

So many are not aware of the services available to them.

God Bless you for your dedication

I'm grateful Anderson Clayton is out there talking to young people who won't listen to people like me, who don't "look like them," but it's sad that they're so ageist and superficial.

R.M., I think it is less that people won't listen to people in a different demographic, and more so that they are *more* likely to listen to someone who they perceive as being in the same demographic, especially if the issues being discussed impact that demographic more acutely. This is just basic human psychology, superficial though it may be. I'm a late-20s childless white male with a college degree. Even if I had the requisite knowledge, would you ever choose me to host a panel called "Mothers and Childcare in Impovershed Communities of Color"? No, because I would not be the ideal messenger for that and we both know it.

That said, that male student with the sunglasses *was* disgustingly ageist and ignorant and I wanted to reach into my screen and punch him in the jaw. Ms. Clayton, on the other hand, is extraordinarily engaging and I hope she keeps doing what she is doing.

I called my rep. Friday at 3:45 pm Eastern. She (D) had voted nay, due to key funding issues with Gaza aid. The LA with whom I spoke said my rep. closely tracked the vote, so she could make a political statement for a section of her voters without jeopardizing the legislation moving forward. I fully expect her to vote yay today.

The LA also said their office would be closed today. Only two staffers would be supporting the congresswoman. Just FYI if you are still trying to call.

Thank you for the video clips. Deeply relieved by the apparent MMJ about-face on [esp.] Ukraine aid, I am dumbfounded by it. Can you share insight on this? I am sorry for the antisemitism you've encountered. While this kind of blind/lethal hatred is anything but new, it still is staggering as well as tragic.

Expand full comment

MMJ did a 180 on this for the same reason any politician lacking principles does a 180: his first position became more risky to his job than the one he landed on. The pressure from constituents like us became too strong, his attempts to extort the White House had failed, and enough Dems offered to help keep him in his job if a stop was put to this. Any attempt to paint this as a "change of heart" to "do the right thing" is total horses#!t, though I'm glad it finally happened.

Expand full comment

It was made extremely personal to MMJ because his son is going to the Naval Academy in Annapolis this Fall. He actually said this out loud. He slowly became willing to send bullets instead of American bodies (his very own precious son) to fight the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This is known as "enlightened" self-interest.

It was an unexpected pleasure to call my R Congressman Mike Flood yesterday to THANK him for supporting the Ukraine funding rule….just called this morning to urge final passage. I said on Twitter yesterday that the two most important but under appreciated accomplishments of Joe Biden thus far in my view are out maneuvering MAGA on the debt ceiling last year, and out maneuvering them on Ukraine this year.

This administration truly has been a masterclass in good governance in an unprecedentedly challenging time. Very proud of my president and party today ❤️‍🩹🇺🇸
