Thnx Simon! I’ll be attending the Santa Fe County Commission meeting today in support of the resolution! Yesterday the protest was astounding! We are growing thanks to you and our community. Been following Ms Nessel for years !!
Thank you so much, Debrianna! I just called Paul Dirdak, and he will be there to provide oral testimony. I hope you will also use your voice to testify. At a minimum, you can just say that you support the resolution, and ask for their vote to adopt it. Each person has three minutes total, enough time to explain why you support it. At least seven written public comments have been submitted, and about four more could be forthcoming. I expect all five Commissioners will vote in favor of the resolution today.
I am testfying at 5:00 pm in Bernalillo County, along with four others (two min. each). Ten or more public comments that I know about have been submitted. I expect four Commissioners will vote in favor of the resolution today after it is debated by them. They may ask us questions. I hope my Republican Commissioner will either support it or abstain. Final adoption of the resolution will be at the next meeting on August 5. Santa Fe has the same meeting schedule, different time.
Thank you Simon. Other supporters of the resolution have asked me to write a letter to the Editor of the Albuquerque Journal and to contact Richard Edes of KTRC 1260 | 103.7 Talk Radio in Santa Fe (505) 424-1260. https://santafe.com/shows/the-richard-eeds-show/. I might draft a letter saying why I supported the resolution, but not until after the votes are counted. Will pass on the radio commentary but expect the same person will ask Paul to do it since they are friends.
My self-report is the same as other days. I called Congressman Raskin and Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen to ask them to get louder about opposing Trump's budget bill, especially the sale of federal wilderness lands. Those lands are held in trust for all Americans, including future generations of Americans. I also asked them to get louder about opposing Trump's actions in the middle east. It's clear at this point that he's a demented old man, tweeting out things he shouldn't be tweeting and raging at his impotence on the world stage. I knew last night he was just making up a ceasefire.
Ironically, today, he's headed for the Hague. Next time, I'll have to be a bit more specific when I petition the gods.
I'm writing postcards to North Carolina voters today.
TWO BIG VICTORIES from the Senate Parliamentarian!
NO MASSIVE SELL-OFF of PUBLIC LAND
1) Senator Mike Lee has been itching to give Trump the green light for a massive sell-off of public land. Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough has ruled that this provision violates the Byrd Rule. Meaning it can only be passed with 60 votes in the Senate. That, of course, is unlikely to happen.
2) The Senate Parliamentarian has also ruled against provisions that would have dramatically accelerated the approval of offshore oil and gas projects. With this ruling Democrats score another huge procedural victory.
Provisions that would have deemed offshore oil and gas projects as "automatically compliant" with the National Environmental Policy Act, essentially nullifying the environmental review process for these projects, have been ordered removed from the Republican megabill.
Thank you for posting this! Senator Wyden is calling for people to keep speaking up about public lands because the GOP is likely to try to sneak the sale through some other way.
Thank you. This kind of exact information is what is making it possible to be knowledgeable, effective action-takers & information sharers. Simon's interviews are absolutely invaluable and effective...I am educated every time. And sometimes even heartened. But I am grateful, as well, for the important information shared here in comments. Thanks "family". :)
According to the Star Tribune, Trump's fascist gambit in LA is actually driving up approval numbers in MN (outstate and in the suburbs.) This seems odd to me as it's not consistent with the rest of the polling.
The owner of the Star Tribune is a prominent Republican, and I will dive into the poll later today but man is this a GOP favorable poll. It's almost a joke how GOP it is.
Thanks, Simon. He sure is, and has been tanking the paper. I didn't know how to read the poll, but I thought it was weird. (At least he sold the Lynx and the Wolves.)
Oh, I agree. I think I phrased my comment badly. I was surprised by how out-of-sync it was, but I suppose I didn't want to believe Glen Taylor (the owner) would go so far as to do shoddy polls. But, here we are.
Sadly, that's why I've grown to get the most local news from abc/cbs/nbc/wgn and then go to the BBC/Guardian/substacks for anything else. The Chicago Tribune has always been too GOP/GQP but had the better writers. The Sun Times doesn't go into detail on anything and never has/but was always easier to physically hold.
Here is the testimony I am giving today (2 min. limit including spelling name, giving address). Randy Gold offered some revisions (included) and coaching. He's watching remotely from AZ.
Good evening, Honorable Chairman Olivas, Vice Chair Barboa, Commissioners Barbara Baca, Frank Baca and Walt Benson. I am here because the citizens of Bernalillo County are being hurt by the unconstitutional orders, illegal actions, and willful misdeeds of the Executive Branch.
Our Attorney General, Raúl Torrez, has filed many legal arguments in lawsuits against the administration. Members of our NM Congressional Delegation have listened to their constituents about how they have been adversely affected. Their findings are featured on their websites and have been presented in Congress.
We the People of Bernalillo County are called at this moment in time to speak out, to defend our U.S. Constitution and our rights, and to uphold our responsibilities. We are reminded that during the revolutionary period, local jurisdictions passed declarations of disapproval for harmful decisions that were enacted without the consent of the colonies. In that historical spirit, the resolution will support our Congressional Delegation in their role as members of a coequal branch of government, and to help ensure the Separation of Powers -- and that our U.S. Constitution is upheld as the supreme and defining law of Our Country.
I respectfully request your vote in favor of this resolution.
Apparently Connecticut is doing something right since the Feds think, without proof, that we are a sanctuary state. We are warned that we could lose Federal funding. Earlier in the year we were warned that we weren't having enough babies so Federal transportation money was on the line. I wonder where all this money that we aren't getting is going to go?
This is fantastic! Thank you for standing up to trump and company. I jealous, as i am stuck in maga Indiana the test kitchen for all the horrors concocted by Heritage and....Rokita. ~sigh~ Yes, lack of concern thrives in the fungi infested regime. Our government has been infested withe Dumb and Dumber syndrome 🙄
Thank you for another excellent interview, Simon. How fortunate to have Dem AG Dana Nessel in service to The People of Michigan. When working together with the other 22 Dem State AG's, even though their lawsuits have been successful 100% of the time, there is no denying that 47 regime continues to push the envelope toward complete abandonment of our Constitutional order.
Simon, thank you for using the word, ABANDON at the end of the video. This is surely the case in all red state legislatures.
Rep. Robert Garcia won ranking member of House Oversight Committee! I wanted Jasmine Crockett but Garcia was my 2nd choice.
I am very happy the spot did not go to another 70+ year old because my leftists and progressive friends would have done another victory lap with their “Democrats suck” narrative.
As it is they’ll just filter it out or pick apart Garcia’s record to conclude he’s a centrist.
But I’m happy with the choice of Garcia for the spot.
Thank you for this interview with AG Nessel. She is my AG and I am so proud of the work they are doing. So many people complain that Dem’s aren’t doing anything and this is a prime example disputing that. Absolutely so smart of the group to start working on this during the campaign.
Cant help but think about that Trump video clip, that it's all still projection. He should be looking in the mirror when he screams " You don't know what the F your doing!!!"
Called my Senators, Called my Rep to 1) vote against the reconcilliation bill, and 2) insist that ICE agents are unmasked and nametagged.

The Dolos “Peace Process” is simply another TACO moment. Notice that it was out of Qatar (i.e. of the used Boeing 747 gift to #47 fame) that the Iranian side was finalized, and Israel was able to cease after some US pressure. In the last 36 hours, it should be noted that there was a discrete call with Dolos, the President of Iran, the President of the UAE, Bibi, and the Tsar (timestamp - 1:15 and 2:20): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6aVChntzc8 . Supposedly, Russian nuclear plant workers were given passage out of Iran in the middle of last week.
Ask yourself why #47 was the first President to allow Israel (i.e. Netanyahu) to pull the trigger on Iran? The answer is always “narcissistic supply”. So, please read my note from yesterday per the analysis of the former professor Vlad Vexler of Dolos.
The arsonist always gets a rise out of watching the fire that he started. He could get burned after all. When the fire is extinguished, the arsonist needs another fire. P.S. : DEMOCRATIC officials keep mentioning (and showing) Jan. 6 and the PARDONS relative to the current “law and order” push by Dolos and his associates. This is a simple but strong contrast. Use social media to promote testimonies by former “January 6 Commission” members and witnesses. YES, re-litigate Jan. 6 - again and again and again. Dolos needs to realize that he lives in a GLASS HOUSE. Go on Faux News Channel because it is just like an “unrepresented” Republican district - i.e. plenty of visuals devoid of facts. The VISUAL EVIDENCE IS NOW ON YOUR SIDE. GO ON ESPN (a male-leaning channel) and express concern about the viability of the pending World Cup with actors like Dolos and Miller in the mix. With measles rampant and anti-vax officials influencing policy, will tourists want to visit the USA (weak ticket sales?): https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/soccer/heres-what-fifa-president-gianni-infantino-said-about-ice-cbp-agents-at-club-world-cup/ar-AA1GwUkA ?
P.P.S.: Do the following now! FIRST, TEACH CIVICS. Second, register voters. THIRD, TEACH CIVICS. Rinse. Repeat.
P.P.P.S.: Every local office of the Democratic Party and of the elected officials (including state representatives on up) must become a site for civic teach-ins and a clearing house for needed services (with Federal departments being sabotaged). The fact is that Democrats believe in the value of government and of government service, and the other side (i.e. the MAGAts and the illiberals) simply doesn’t. This engagement process will make registering partisan voters and teaching civics much easier.
Great, positive, energetic interview, and SO SO SO important for everyone to be able to hear how hard the Dem AGs are working, and how quickly they hit the ground running to combat the full frontal...Thank you, Simon. And thank you to AG Dana Nessel for taking time for this interview.
Our County DCC’s Treasurer’s pickup was vandalized, paint poured and smeared on windows and doors, two nights ago while parked on her daughter’s property. Her daughter is the chair of the committee. We are, as I’ve said many times, in a Ruby red MAGA stronghold of California’s Gold Country in the Sierra Nevada. This act resonated with Heather Cox Richardson’s assertion yesterday that:
“Republican dominance politics began in the 1950s as a way to prevent the federal government from protecting Black and Brown civil rights. Since then, it has reinforced the idea of asserting power through violence. And it has always reinforced the power of white men over women and racial and gender minorities.”
After reading MAGAt Congressman Tom McClintock’s tone deaf paen to Trumpenomics, in which he expresses displeasure over the Senate’s meddling and quotes Benjamin Franklin, which his minions sent in response to my barrage of displeasure over the MAGA Murder Bill, and seeing photos of the mucked up truck, I am feeling like engaging in some dominance politics myself. But I’d be killed in a heartbeat. For real.
