I am presently 76 years old. When I was 10 years old I lost a good friend and neighbor to a gun violence incident. For over 60 years I have been asking for answers to help reduce gun violence. For every step forward it seems we take two steps back. It does not have to be like this. There are solutions that could help. I am not asking for or expecting an end to gun violence. I understand we are at a point where there are too many, way, way too many guns already in circulation. But there are ways to REDUCE gun violence. Why do we not enact those solutions? The answer to that question is the gun industry money and lobbying power. Let’s start there by stopping that. Take gun money and lobbying power out of politics. We could do it if we had the will.

Listened to your terrific interviews with Jen Rubin and Reed Galen yesterday. Both highly recommended.

Great Ohio ad. For those postcard writers in the Hopium family, Postcards to Voters just added addresses for Ohio to vote YES on Issue One. Virginia addresses coming soon.

One other thought. David Ignatius’s column yesterday was so destructive to democracy. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are running for re-election regardless of what a Washington Post opinion writer pontificates. Why are columnists like Ignatius and Michelle Goldberg amplifying Republican talking points? We as a party have far more reasons to go on offense against MAGA and their mission to end democracy. Simon is giving us those tools, and the fact that Joe Biden has been an extraordinary President, one of the best in modern times, only makes the case easier. But it’s past time we stop with the bed wetting and the “buts” - and remind voters daily that freedom and democracy are both at stake.
