Trump may let Todd go, doubtful, but he wants his IRS immunity. That must be stopped!

I understand a postcard effort is underway for Ohio. Where does one sign up?

Kathleen McLeroy's avatar

Yes! I recently committed to write 500 postcards to the state most in need and was assigned Ohio. I signed up here: https://turnoutpac.org/postcards/

Before 9 am I called Schumer, Gillibrand, Schiff and Padilla and urged them to do everything they can to block the Blanche nomination. Told them I was outraged that Republicans would confirm him without the total recision of the disgraceful IRS tax audit immunity of Trump, his family and cronies.Blanche is unqualified to be the nation's highest crime fighter given his disgusting handling of the Epstein files and thwarting of any meaningful investigation.

Just a note to say thank you for establishing the 'Winning [State]" funds. It's obviously convenient, but it also feels holistic somehow. In my case, I'd love to see Iowa come back from the abyss and this gives me a way to think about how to invest in that.

I know that you write a ton, so mistakes here and there will happen, but I feel certain that you did NOT mean, "but we should be giving Trump tariff authority that we all know he will abuse" and DID mean, "but we should NOT be giving Trump tariff authority that we all know he will abuse."

Just sayin'.

Looking at the strength in numbers plot that Simon shared showing the range of possible house seats after the election, i'm struck that, based on this data, the likelihood of us having a great election in the house (>240 seats) is much more likely you would think from the discourse.

Cornyn and Tillis caved, because Blanche rescinded the "weaponization fund". Looks like he'll probably go through, but we'll see.

Thank you as always Simon for keeping us focused on the important stuff. Looks to me like there's a typo/omission in your second 'calling the Senate' bullet point - it says "but we should be giving Trump tariff authority..."

I will contact my D reps on Russia Sanctions Bill, Blanche, limiting Vought in the CR.

The fourth of my emails highlighting candidates for the House went out this morning. I featured Rebecca Cooke, Bob Brooks and Shannon Taylor.

Thank you Kate. Simon has fixed that typo.

Ciao from Italy! Please help us get the word out! US citizens living, serving and studying abroad CAN VOTE! If you have family or friends living overseas please tell them to request their ballots at https://votefromabroad.org There are 6.5 million Americans living abroad - many don't realize that we can vote!

Calls made! Great weekly call w Dr. Ben-Ghiat last night; her guest was the phenomenal Renee DiResta, global expert on misinfo/disinfo. The main topic was how the regime is actively spreading health-related disinfo via Bobby Brainworms. Remember, we don't have the same propaganda outlets so our way of spreading the truth is via our relational organizing networks. Coincidentally, that's how we motivate folks to vote as well - trusted messengers have power!

Spending the day catching up on a series of lectures by Dr. Kimberle Crenshaw related to her new book Backtalkers, which addresses much of what we are doing here - stepping up to challenge the regime's false narratives about race, power, class, gender, etc.

Keep going!

Simon, thanks for the early voting graphic; that will be easy to share on social media.

I called Congressman Raskin and Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen about Blanche, Russian sanctions, and grant authority. I'm writing postcards to Ohio voters today. What's your take on Brian Poindexter who is running against Miller?

ICYMI Hopium members bought the Vote on Day 1 and Vote Early postcards from Markers for Democracy Postcard ProShop at https://markersfordemocracy.org/postcarding. There is a link to their VistaPrint site that has this card. https://markersfordemocracy.ourproshop.com/

There are no bounds to maga's corruption. Here's NPR's lastest report about dt's money laundering and consquences for ~385 Trump Organization accounts. It's entitled "Capital One says it closed Trump Organization accounts over money-laundering concerns"

"Capital One bank has asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit from the Trump Organization over the closure of hundreds of bank accounts back in 2021, arguing in new papers that the shutdowns were the product of a monthslong anti-money-laundering review — not retaliation for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, as the Trump family businesses have claimed."

What about adding Brian Poindexter to the campaigns we support? If I am not mistaken, that is the candidate running against Miller in OH.

Postcarding. I will vote in the primary today. It is a short walk from where I am and it nice out today.

DNC is a mess. Martin should step down He's failed on multiple front and the the phone throwing incident, however accurate the reporting, should be disqualifying. Fortunate local democrat organizations working hard

PS I contacted Willis's office again to oppose Blanche

Don't believe the maga lies or words of sore losers about the DNC. Under Ken Martin's leadership, the "current DNC raised the most money of any DNC without the White House in the 198-year history of the Democratic Party." For the first time in our history, Ken Martin's DNC is supporting the Democratic Party in every state so we can win everywhere! As a result, Democrats have won a very high percentage of the special elections this year, often by double digits, and are heading into the mid-term elections in a very strong position. Simon pointed us to the Substack article that Ken Martin wrote. It's entited "The DNC Is Building a Democratic Party That Can Win the Moment and Win the Future." https://kenmartin287890.substack.com/p/the-dnc-is-building-a-democratic

I am in frequent contact with our NM DNC members and am one of the SCC members that elected our current DNC members. They speak very highly of Ken Martin's leadership and express how grateful we are for the money received. I see that you are a Member of BlueCD2 NM, and I am in CD-1.

Legal AF of the MeidasTouch network, reported over the weekend on an appeal being filed in Florida regarding the Trump IRS “settlement”, that could, if won, be a springboard to the slush fund and IRS immunity being reinstated. Also, Aaron Parnas reported this morning that the initial “settlement” states that it “may be modified only with the written agreement of the Parties”, makes Blanche’s statement nullifying the settlement meaningless. Ack! What can be done?

yes, saw that critique this morning, not worth paper it's written on - that will surface, obviously,
