President Biden is definitely compassionate and he’s is good at bonding with people when he’s out and about. Inflation is world wide and we are bringing it down. Not sure how to help people understand the President of the US can’t “cure” inflation.

Richard, this is just not correct. If you look at their ads and the daily narrative from Biden world it is that these last few years have been hard, but we are getting to the other side. Dwelling on how hard it is doesn't move the narrative - we have to make the case that things are getting better, which they are undeniable are. Inflation is way down, because wages have grown so much real wages have been in positive territory for six months. When we talk and communicate it is an opportunity to tell people about the progress we've made. This is what leadership is. This ad is a good example - https://www.hopiumchronicles.com/p/the-american-people-who-are-the-heroes. To say things are not getting better would be untrue, and factually wrong. We are obligated to tell our fellow citizens the truth, and that truth is that we've come through COVID better than any other advanced economy; inflation is lower here today than any European nation; real wages have seen dramatic improvement in the last six months; in recent months the unemployment rate has been the lowest in 50 years, etc. This is all just true, and it is our responsibility to share this information with one another.

The NH poll is really encouraging. I am worried about the report that 15,000 people in Arizona have signed up with a third party. That could be a margin of difference in a state like AZ. Your opinion?

My opinion is, focus on what we can control rather than what we can’t. Let’s just turn out every damn possible blue voter we can find in AZ, and remember that a sizable portion of third party voters could very well be Rs that can’t square with Trump any longer, but just can’t bring themselves to vote D....yet. That doesn’t hurt us, it hurts Rs. Let’s just do the work 🇺🇸😎

We can try to influence even those we cannot or at least many not control.

Hi Susan,

Arizona Dems pulled off a stunning shocking miracle last election. ( are you from there?) I’m trying to find ways to support them to hang on to their gains. I’ve donated some to the Maricopa Dems and a friend and I are helping out with their High School Youth Voter Registration Project. Now we’re seeing how we can help out the newly unified Tribe voters. They all are working so so hard and they are attracting lots of supporters around the country like us bc they are just so SCRAPPY and so AMAZING! And so Inspiring!!!!

And boy have they really P’O’d the Rs who believed they “ Owned” Az. Every time I visited family there the place was plastered with djt and MAGA flags and banners!!

I love the grit and determination Arizona is showing; and so do lots more around the country! Your concern makes me worried and I’ll continue to track ( so thanks) but I’m all in with supporting this immensely determined group. I believe at this point they are in for the long haul and if they get knocked over they will keep getting back up. Just like Texas I see their brutal fight and I’m so proud of all their efforts; I will keep supporting them and encourage others to do so too🙏🏻

I understand and agree that the Democrats have to concentrate on battleground states, but I don’t understand why we essentially concede “Red” states to the Republicans. Why can’t we really engage voters throughout the country?

Imo, democracy loving people are getting engaged nationwide. The point in Simon’s post is to me that the battlegrounds are what get the $ and attention because of the electoral vote. One day if we have a national popular vote every voter can feel the importance of their vote. But even in those red states voting matters. There are districts flipping since Dobbs in special elections and even if they don’t go Blue, they are making Blue leans by double digits, showing that once ‘secure’ red is now purple.

So unfortunately, resources from the national campaigns will focus on battlegrounds. But that doesn’t mean WE have too. Ohio and Florida are showing lots of momentum on reproductive freedoms initiatives so supporting these efforts and any purple districts in red states or tight Gov races will certainly let those red voter bases know that Big Blue is knocking on their doors. Dems need to build back blue races we lost too in 2022 in like NY & CA.

So it isn’t about ignoring red states.... far from that. But as the national campaigns NEED to focus on battlegrounds, groups and individuals can support ANYWHERE they feel Blue has impact, even in Red states, cuz that sends a LOUDER message. Like Dem Mayor Donna Deegan in Jacksonville Florida. Huge win that no doubt hurt Ron’s feelings! And like Simon says “shows a real repudiation of Maga”.

Excellent points. The follow up comment is that the DNC and Biden campaign need to publicly acknowledge and support as best they can the grassroots efforts that are so important, especially in the Red states.

It is almost certain at this point that Trump wins. It is the likely scenario, and the one we have to prepare for.

We need to drop any pretense of being red, blue, democrat, or republican and work together to strengthen, protect, and defend America and Democracy from those among us who seek to destroy both.

Ukrainian-Americans comprise a sizable constituency in some areas of the country. I expect they feel this Republican betrayal keenly and will remember it a long time. So should all of us who stand with them on the side of freedom.

Strong Day 1 voting from an important county in Virginia. Encouraging. Excited to see the results from the rest of the state. From analyst Sam Shirazi:

PWC had 850 early voters today (Prince William County)

For reference, 666 voted first day in 2021 and 495 in 2022

PWC is home to a competitive State Senate race and 2 competitive House races

Certainly a sign voters are paying attention

Extending the battleground happens when we succeed in Senate defense in MT, OH and NV. Also AZ and WI which are major battlegrounds. We don't get to 55 if we don't increase our ambitions by extending. Or so I think.

This seems like an important article for understanding the potential government shut down, and in general how we’ve gotten to where we are with the economy. Simon - wonder if you agree - comments? How do we make MSM pay attention? And get this info into the voting public’s consciousness?

Simon, I believe you mentioned Voters of Tomorrow on a recent call. I have been getting solicitations from the group. It appears to be very new and though I like that it is youth led, I have been hesitant to support new untested organizations. What do you know about VOT? Thank you.

Andrew,

Appreciate your question and will be interested in hearing Simons response. I read the group just met with Biden administration this week. Start up impressive. Savvy advisors. Surprised to read about how extensive they are, having chapters in several states in the short time since they started: 2019.

Couldn’t find their finances or size yet. The new group David Hogg is just starting seems very similar: GenZs becoming politically active and focused on youth vote.

Irene, I tried to find their financials also without luck. That is why I was hesitant to support. Looking forward to Simon’s report.

Simon, did you see what the North Carolina legislature passed on Friday? It seems we now need to turn our attention there, and make a really strong push to counter this blatant fascist move!

To me winning North Carolina next year is one of our highest priorities, our most important expansion state. I talked a lot about North Carolina in the spring, and will start focusing on it again in the coming months. I have a meeting with some NC leaders this week and will report back soon....

My head is spinning! I'm in Ohio, and we are in dire straits here, too. Then there's Wisconsin, Idaho, Missouri...it's nuts! But this blatant fascist move in NC is something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. OK, I've taken a deep breath; back to work now! Thanks, Simon. As Joyce Vance says, "We're in this together"!!

Thank you Simon for helping me maintain some degree of sanity, as I watch the country I love become more susceptible to Russian/Saudi/Chinese/authoritarian influence. Is there any way we can expose the money that is flowing into our public discourse (Twitter, Fox, Facebook, Sinclair) to influence American opinions? Or has Citizens United made that nearly impossible? In my opinion, this is one of, if not the biggest threat to democracy. Included in that is the money that our elected officials are being essentially bribed by oligarchs.
