Deepak, appreciate you being a member of this community. But please don't come here solely as a marketer of work from elsewhere. If you want to engage with the material here, great. But please don't use your access here solely as a marketing vehicle for material from elsewhere. I won't allow it.
Thanks for your note. I write my own blogs and create my own maps with the goal of helping people better visualize the situation, relationships and locations.
I subscribe to Heather Richardson's blog and saw her quote you "As Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg retorted when Senator Wicker called on Biden to respond to the attack that killed three Americans “swiftly and decisively for the whole world to see”: “Wasn’t funding Ukraine and Israel the first, critical step in deterring Iran? We are in this place now due to the Russian fifth columnists in the Republican Party including Trump who slavishly do Putin’s bidding.”
I included that quote including a link in my blog along with an interactive map. Let me know if you think that is inappropriate and I'd be glad to cut back on any comments. Regardless, I admire your work and blog. Best,
Simon, thank you for continuing to push hard. I like charts and graphs. You and your team have posted some great charts and graphs. (So does Philip Bump at WAPO.) Can you all take your initial 9 bullet points and put the data into charts and graphs format. Also add national debt and deficits over time. And anything else that will make it easier to comprehend the difference in Rs and Democrats as policy makers in the realm of economics and national well being. Please and thank you.
Thanks Simon, as usual! Regarding economy: somehow it seems to have been cemented into the American psyche that "Republicans are better on the economy." Poll after poll, year after year, keep telling us that, despite all facts to the contrary. Simple repetition is the answer, and Trump is master of repetition of false claims. This one builds on a foundation of countless other lies made by others. Partly that's because Republicans drum constantly on the deficit and national debt, blaming Democrats for "out of control spending" which makes Republicans sound more "responsible," even as they do all they can to cut federal revenues on behalf of the plutocrats. Rob Shapiro says he's "a pushover for data." Me too. Not the American electorate. (Well, except when it comes to sports.) From my POV as a "pushover" for Modern Monetary Theory--which I know is not shared by Simon or even many of you--is that the national debt doesn't matter much in substance, but it DOES matter as a talking point for the public. Japan's economy is in pretty good shape in spite of their running up big national debt for decades. They, as does the U.S., have a fiat currency which keeps the wheels turning. Japan's major economic problem is an aging population, not debt per se. (Automation may save Japan, as machines take over work that has been done by younger people in the past. But you gotta have something like UBI.)
Use this interactive StoryMap to follow the locations and dictators involved with the violence in the Middle East. And the links to Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Iran, Hezbollah, China and North Korea. And how MAGA Republicans are helping Putin by sabotaging American defense and blockign aid to Israel and Ukraine.
Understood. That wasn’t my intention. I also subscribe to Heather Richardson’s blog and she had quoted you last night about the Republican hypocrisy on weakening American defense while demanding a strong response to Iran.
I referenced that quote with your name in the blog along with the storymap that I created myself. My goal was to make it easier for readers to visualize the situation.
Regardless, I appreciate your concern and will not comment to your blog unless there is a direct link. Regards.
At this point the biggest problem we will face politically is that there are literally so many legitimate attacks to levy against the Rs generally and Trump in particular that we’ll have to choose the most effective ones and kind of ignore the others or else we won’t be able to get enough repetition for them to stick in the zeitgeist. Jesus, I thought I was past the capacity to be surprised by their bullshit and malevolence, but they keep breaking new ground. Dig in.....these people must be defeated and humiliatingly so.
Ellen, we don't know if she will even make it through her primary in CO-04 in late June. Her new district is redder (by 4 - 6 points I think), so it would be even a more uphill battle for a Democrat than it would have been had she stuck with CO-03. (FYI, I do think Adam Frisch could have beaten her in CO-03 but he never stopped campaigning and fundraising since he ran against her in 2022. I also think he visited every county in the district so he has excellent name recognition there).
I donated a lot of money in 2020 to defeat (R)s that I couldn't stand (McConnell and Lindsey Graham spring to mind) and it was basically money wasted. So I have gotten a lot more strategic.
I'm in NC and donating to Democratic candidates in my state as well as Biden-Harris and the NCDP. Other than that, I am sending small monthly donations to the most vulnerable Democratic Senators up for re-election in Nov. (I also donated to Tom Keen and Tom Suozzi because of Hopium).
But, if you still want to donate to defeat Boebert despite the uphill battle, I suggest making a donation to the ActBlue Nominee Fund for that district. The money raised will go to the winner of the Democratic primary.
Tom Suozzi’s campaign is so important, and is now, via Zoom and with grassroots supporting all across the States, a national campaign. My household wrote 100 letters for Tom Suozzi and, now, almost 100 Postcards To Voters postcards for Tom Supzzi.
Democratic grassroots are also phone banking, door knocking, canvassing, text banking, doing everything possible the clock around.
Simon, could you please address an issue I am noticing among my women friends: they don’t believe Kamala Harris is a good Vice President. They support Biden, but think he’s too old ( That old chestnut). They are excited about Nikki Haley getting in the race and possibly being the gop nominee. This is dangerous in my opinion. Where as you spend a lot of newsletter time on highlighting Biden’s accomplishments, could you also give some concentrated time to a convincing argument for believing Kamala Harris has the chops to handle the job if something should happen to Biden? I feel she is held in suspicion by too many Dems.
I was just watching a video clip of Biden talking about Republican hypocrisy of touting the benefits and claiming credit for legislation they voted against in the previous Congress when Dems had the majority in the House and could get legislation passed..
He then remarked that theytheir constituents voted agains it knowing it would benefit because they "didn't want to give Biden a victory". He then followed up with "it's not my victory, it's the American people's victory". Personally, I credit Biden and Nancy Pelosi.
It struck me that I don't know if I could come up with a better contrast between Biden and Trump. We Democrats often seem to think that Biden is TOO humble about his accomplishments, while Trump is a raging, malignant narcissist who apparently actually belives that only HE CAN FIX IT and will jump at the chance to claim anything positive even if it only happened IN SPITE of him.
Keep on speaking out, Simon, anytime you can get airtime - we desperately need to get the message out that just because Joe Biden is low key and not a "performer" like Trump is not an indicator that he is a 'meh' President. Far from it!
Cheryl. Thank you so much for your insightful response. I appreciate your suggestions, as I actually have also been trying to send funds to the more vulnerable candidates as opposed to wasting the effort. Your perspective about Boebert’s new district makes sense. Not that her R opponents are in any way moderate. But it would be a great outcome to have her out of Congress. I live in Ohio, and you no doubt understand the uphill battles our state has encountered. For the first time , I am concerned about Sherrod Brown’s senate race. Trying to stay hopium hopeful and spread the word!

In a virtual Political Super Bowl, President Biden beats Trump 10-0. Check this infographic to see how.

"jaw-dropping sabotage": yes. "treason" fits in there, too.
Extreme is best word to use for the GOP. Keep using it in conversations when talking with others about the election.
Oklahoma MAGA Republicans have now censured Sen. Lankford. Another desperate move from MAGA. An extreme case of silencing their own Senator.

Any suggestions as to whom we should be supporting against carpetbagger and incompetent dangerous Boebert?

Great stuff, thanks Simon. I just mailed my Activate America postcards for NY-3.

Fingers crossed.

Another good talking point: Why is Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House in daily,
if not more often, contact with Trump? Trump is not the
President and is not a member of the House or Senate. He's an indicted
man running a campaign.
