Every one of us needs to use our network channels to support Biden/Harris. My latest post is about a simple equation. v(i + r) = MAGA

Voters(Ignorance + Racism) = MAGA

And MAGA = Making America Gross Again

This is wonderful because it's the new reality that not all representatives are not lemmingly behind the Trump. The 118th Congress can still push forward the bipartisan immigration bill. This legislation could stil become lawl.

I think it’s very possible this will happen. The damn, so to speak, has burst, and I think more and more Congresspeople who are not Marjorie Greene or her “FART” crew will want to govern, and have more of a chance of winning elections, and not be tied to the anchor that is Broke Loser Donald Trump.

Think about this : Lindsey Graham just said on television that this passed BECAUSE of Trump.

Worthwhile article with key background information on what led Speaker Mike Johnson to finally stop his six-month-long obstruction of critical aid to Ukraine. Fortunately, better late than never.

Thank you for this link. Helpful and important info. “President Biden's national security team, most importantly CIA Director Bill Burns, methodically walked Johnson through the damning intelligence.”(Also outs the R committee chairs and Stefanik voting no.)

And praise for our man Jeffries.

Here's where you can check and see how your House representative voted on the Ukraine aide package:

https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2024151

I have to admit that I am shocked that 6 of the 7 GOP Representatives in NC voted in favor of Ukraine aid - along with all 7 Democrats (which was NOT a surprise).

The one nay-sayer in NC was Dan Bishop (NC-08) who is a MAGA Trump boot licker and the person who authored the Anti-Trans bathroom bill back when he was in the state legislature. He is currently running for AG in November against my current House Rep, Jeff Jackson who was gerrymandered out of his seat.

Let's all work to flip NC Blue - or at least as blue as is feasible with the extensive gerrymandering!!

Significant shift that Mike Johnson bucked the ultra-extremist wing of his house members to bring the Ukraine bill to the floor, and that more and more Repubs are speaking out against the failure to govern. With continued hard work those seats can get filled by either Dems or Repubs who care to govern.

Expand full comment
Marcia Naroditsky's avatar

"There is hope!"

The outcome I hope for is Dems winning decisively in Novemeber.

I'm not sure that we can trust Mike Johnson to maintain his backbone - or his job for that matter! With the "normie" Republicans retiring in droves, I wouldn't want to speculate who the GOP would recruit for their 3rd speaker of the year...

As someone who used to work [in the lowest tier] of a Congressional office, I can tell you that your communications DO matter. Even the Neanderthal members count their incoming letters, postcards, calls. No one is "won over" by the artfulness of your arguments and prose; they just imagine you at the voting box.

So save your time, write something, and encourage others to do so. We've seen that it DOES matter.

Please educate me — what should the Trump campaign have done to avoid the cancellation of the rally? I want to understand their planning. Did they not watch the weather? Did they not have an alternative place? Do they not have an adequate advance team?

Expand full comment
Jeanne Keller's avatar

Probably all three of those, plus they don't have enough money to rent places, and given that he can't fill auditoriums any more, small crowds won't look so bad when the pix are outdoor locations. IE no empty chairs.

That makes sense. Not enough money and not enough interest, therefore, rallies at airports.

I'm in NC - albeit 200 miles from Wilmington. We have been having some wacky weather with huge temperature swings, lots of severe thunderstorms, and quite a few tornado warnings. So likely it wasn't called off for a few raindrops - but as Jeanne pointed out they were too cash strapped to find an indoor venue.
