New poll just came out on general election matchups in Michigan.

https://bsky.app/profile/billscher.bsky.social/post/3mrpo4dcgv22o

"MI-SEN general election poll, Glengariff/Michigan Education Association/Business Leaders for Michigan

Stevens 45.5

Rogers 44.7

Rogers 49

El-Sayed 38.7"

Incredibly concerning #s for El-Sayed

I mean if those polls are in any way accurate and non-partisan, then El-Sayed needs to withdraw today.

Obviously not going to happen, but you get my drift.

Thanks, Simon, especially for sharing the ads from Luria and Acton. Both of them are amazing.

I called Congressman Raskin and Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen to say that Trump is not in touch with reality, is a danger to us and the rest of the world, and must be removed from office. I kicked in a little bit to the Maryland Democratic Party because I think it's important to support the party where we live. I'm writing postcards to Ohio voters today.

Hi all - there's a fantastic, sobering new piece in The Contrarian on how we got here and the task that lies before us. It's an analysis of the "long game" that was the right's response to the successes of the Great Society, New Deal, etc. - the Powell memo and all that ensued. The thesis is that the "long game" was comprehensive and took decades, and that we must think on those terms, too.

From the article: "The question [now] is whether those who seek a different future are prepared to build the institutions, develop the leaders, and sustain the commitment necessary to shape the next generation of constitutional change. If history has taught us anything, it is that those who fail to understand how power is accumulated rarely succeed in changing its course." Here's the full piece: https://www.contrariannews.org/p/the-long-game

The Progressive Turnout Project reports great results from last year's News Boosting postcard project, and are doing it again this fall in Texas and Alaska. Here's another way to support our great candidates, Peltola & Talarico! Sign up here: https://secure.ngpvan.com/NPCPSG0VaUqaLw7w6AbNDg2

They still need folks to write postcards to states & key House races, too. Sign up for that here: https://secure.ngpvan.com/bcp6GpoxVEC3b1bF0GqgZg2

Keep going!

Wow, Lisa, great post today. I may have some bandwidth for postcards. I have done them in the past with my group but since everyone moved away and we basically disbanded, I have not written any. I assume there must be data that supports postcards.

I think that is absolutely right. I've been guilty of thinking that things would be ok if we just got rid of Trump. But there is no end to this project. We've always fallen short of our aspirations as a country, but we always have kept fighting in the right direction. Nothing has changed in that way. It's always a work in progress, and the main thing is to keep the fascists out of power.

Agreed. Removing Trump from power is just the beginning.

Self report: I just got back from a week in the NC mountains. I called Tillis and Budd every day, as usual. I was astonished to see a lot of Jamie Ager signs but NO Chuck Edwards signs. And NO Trump signs anywhere, and I had to take a detour through solidly red NC to get home. Not a single Trump sign! I am so happy.

This is such good news. Perhaps those great numbers Simon posted today will even hit the reddest areas.

Hope you had fun in the forests!

made the calls to my senators and messages to Cornyn and Tillis; I shared that even my R friends here in rural VA do not want anything to do with a so-called 'save' act

suspect disenchanted maga voters will not vote for dems, just not vote. still a win! also repubs sometimes stay at home when satan not on the ballot. so another gain for us. it all adds up.

also chk out Astronauts for America. https://www.astronautsforamerica.org/. 108 astronauts came together and are doing a national tour to step up voting. so proud of them! always heroes.

I just called Senator John Cornyn's DC office & left a message asking him NOT to vote to confirm Blanche. (had written previously) I'll keep calling.

I just found out about the Democrat Socialist Party platform. JFC. We're going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. And evidently, someone from the party just defended it on Fox. I am now scared shitless we can't win any of these races. All the Republicans have to do is read it verbatim -- It's got a lot of things we want, but it also pretty much shreds the Constitution -- abolish the Senate and Supreme Court, seize ownership of most corporations. I want progressives to win. I donate to them. But this is absolutely insane if we want to win.

Here's the Fox News segment - https://x.com/DSA_Watch/status/2081840681811681322. Hard to imagine why she would have done this interview on Fox other than she wants Dems to lose this November.

Yes I don't know why people who run on a progressive but less extreme set of policies would associate with the DSA label. It might just be that they moderate to get elected and they really do follow the DSA platform. I would suspect a lot of people who call themselves DSA don't actually know the facts.

Dear Simon, Marc Elias rightly so, is warning about potential implications if Trump’ appeal to SCOTUS about mail in voting is granted. Given THIS…SCOTUS has already rejected this once before, should we be concerned they could take it up this time? Does the GOP not understand such a ruling would arguably harm their rural voters most, given ballot boxes and polling stations for many of them are miles out of the way? To rule in his favor on this four months out from the election would likely cause great chaos. Hopefully, our Dem Governors, AGs, and Secs of State have a fail safe in place just in case.

Good Afternoon Simon. I made Calls to Tillis and Cornyn. Cornyn said he won't Vote for Blanche. We shall see. I will call them again later.

Awhile ago, I watched Stuart Stevens video talking about Mathew Taylor (Yoshi). Stuart was quite upset about Yoshi becoming a Trumper, since he was a friend of his. It was very interesting. Stuart was also talking about his time in Albania, when he was sick and covered in blood and was airlifted to Toronto! Stuart never mentions why he was covered in Blood, or what happened???

Simon, do you have any takeaways from the MI debate between Stevens and El-Sayed the other night? Seemed ‘tight’ between the two.
